Total lunar eclipse – August 28th, 2007 As the moon disappears into the shadow of the Earth, reflection from the moon changes from grey/white into blood red/orange. Something that we do not normally see every month or years.

THIS SHOT IS THAT OF AN “AUGUST 17, 2008 SUNRISE”, WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT THE BAIT STORE IN SUISUN CALIFORNIA GETTING MY STURGEON BAIT. THE SUNRISE WAS THE ONLY GOOD PART OF THE FISHING TRIP THIS MORNING, AS THE STURGEON WEREN’T BITING AND THE LITTLE STRIPERS WERE TAKING MY STURGEON BAIT. I DID MANAGE TO CATCH AND RELEASE 7 OR 8 STRIPERS THAT I LIKE TO CALL, FISH WITH SHOULDERS. THEY AREN’T BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP, BUT THEY THINK THEY ARE BIG ENOUGH TO PUT UP A FIGHT. WELL, SOME OF THEM DO AND SOME OF THEM TRY. ANYWAY I LOOK AT THE FISHING TRIP, IT WAS A NICE DAY AND THE SUNRISE WAS WELL WORTH THE LITTLE EFFORT IT TOOK TO GET THE SHOT. I ADDED A LITTLE BIT OF EXTRA RED IN THE HIGHLIGHTS AND DARKENED THE IMAGE TWICE TO GET THIS LOOK. I LIKE DRAMATIC LOOKING SKIES. EVEN AN UNTOUCHED IMAGE OF THIS SUNRISE LOOKS EXTREME.
“The only safe ship in a storm is leadership” Faye Wattleton The name of a hurricane playing havoc in Florida, the southeasternmost tip of the US – a name derived from the french fee’, meaning fairy, also used as a shortened version of FAITH. / Few people argue with her, and those that do are unlikely to do it more than once. She’s quick-minded and more than capable of using her clarity to come up with a stinging and fierce retort. / She’s a teacher with a voice that explores conceptual variety and diversity, more towards precision, not vagueness. / Intuitively, she’ll invest in a movement or change, over possessions, and her prosperity arises from symbols and superstitious musings and quirks. / She enjoys a good challenge and is a staunch defender of the underdog, eagerly using her forthright nature to help others in distress. / Communicative energy and abilities are evoked with the nature of her being… / Interpretation by tkrosevear 8/22/2008 / / /

Red custom at the 2008 Hot August Nights event in Reno, NV. /
It was not long before dawn and there was an eerie silence around the lake. The lighting was changing by the minute and every photo had different qualities. I ended up choosing this one over the others to process because I really liked the reflection I got in it.
August 2006 I drove from Halifax to Winnipeg the drive was 56 hours long. The Trans Canada Highway isn’t always the best place to pull over, especially when people might be tired, however I couldn’t resist capturing a few shots. Northern Ontario is very sparsely populated, between Sault Ste. Marie and Winnipeg (14 hours of driving) I doubt there is 500,000 people. So you don’t want to accidentally get hit by car while shooting at dawn on a highway.

Red August sky in Estonia. You must just look out from your window! /
1935 Hudson Terraplane. As seen at the 2008 Hot August Nights event in Reno, Nevada.
This was taken moments before the sun cast its first warm rays against the mountains. Watching a sunrise in the Sierra Nevada mountains is hard to beat. It isn’t called the Range of Light for nothing. The quiet peacefulness before dawn slowly escalates as it gets lighter and the animals come alive. This is an HDR created using Photomatix Pro.
