  • American black vulture (Coragyps atratus). / Manatee Springs State Park; Levy county, Florida. / 12 March 2008. / Nikon D70s. This brave black vulture staked a claim on a stretch of parking lot at Manatee Springs State Park, refusing to budge and forcing us to drive around him/her. Tough one, that black vulture! I have to admit, black vultures are quite lovely when you stop and look at them a little more closely. Quite lovely! Janson, / http://floridana.typepad.com

  • (Cygnus atratus) / Nelson Park, Alexander Headland, Qld. Australia.

  • This little family unit of Cygnus atratus (Black Swans) on parade was photographed in the Belmore River Wetlands, east of Kempsey, NSW, Australia, on an early spring morning under grey skies. In the background are many native ducks feeding and in the near background a very large feral domestic goose. Three of us from my camera club had driven up from Port Macquarie to Kempsey to visit another mate who had recently move house. We toured his new home, drank his tea and coffee, ate his biscuits, said “hello” to his wife them kidnapped him for the morning for a tour of the wetlands and the surrounding countryside. S great time had by all. Fuji S9600: Fujinon 28-300mm lens, 1/250sec @ f/4.9, Manual Focus, full zoom, hand held. / Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop CS3 with minimal tweaks.
