The Chicago Tribune newspaper conducted a survey among World War II veterans as to what they remembered most about the war-time period. The responses received most often were Glen Miller’s band, and the Varga Girl. / Atomic Bombshell is my tribute an adoration to the beautiful imagery of the Varga girl.

    by BySilent

    US$3.58–US$95.38

Plenourium Inarticulatus the capital of Terrigenous Myxedema after a Whistie raid destroyed most of the major population centers of the planet. Terrigenous Myxedema was a thriving financial center on the frontier between the Fartherthantruth Alliance and IPUP. The Whistie leader targeted Terrigenous Myxedema because it would not convert to their dogmatic faith, the Lite Weight Church. Just before the raids the governing council converted all their financial resources to IPUP Credits and stored them on Jorelton Prime. The Planet broke away from the Alliance applied to the IPUP for admission was accepted and began the rebuilding process with the IPUP 18th Fleet patrolling the area for security. The planet took 1.5 dreens to recover from the attack of the Whisties. • Nassam
    by BySilent

    US$3.58–US$95.38

On Yenohedam the city of Nassam lies in ruins. Nassam was the center of the Church of Truth Lite. It was attacked by the Lite Weight Churchs militant arm the Whistful Ones (Whisties or Joanies as they are called across the Fartherthantruth Alliance). The Whisties have a doctrine of Irresponsible Retribution Always (IRA) in the name of their faith. The Lite Weight Church was a splinter group from the Church of Truth Lite that followed an ancient belief that the Godhead (Eusamot) would come to them in a vision while they were experiencing the traditional Dne of the soul. This attack was just the latest of brazen attempts to force the Fartherthantruth Alliance to convert to their belief system. They strike without warning or provocation even the main church hierarchy has publicly denounced the Whisties but most of the Fartherthantruth Alliance Defense Force have doubts as to the sincerity of the denouncements. / / Source: Ipedia of Worthy Content (iWC); Volume 17, page 31. In the world the former Soviet Union and the United States have accumulated massive arsenals of nuclear weapons. A large percentage are now reaching an age where the nuclear warheads are long past the time they were expected to be in service. Aged Nuclear Weapons could go off without any warning because of decay in the safeguards of an antiquated infrastructure. / / Makes one wonder about the priorities of the people responsible / / How Aged Damnation looks like as a mounted print: / / . / Some other groups you may find of interest as well: DaDa Land / Boolean Art / Human and Nature / Fantasy Art / Light and Reflections

  • The Conscience of a Hacker
    by neuromancer

I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual, but you can’t stop us all… after all, we’re all alike.

The Conscience of a Hacker (also known as The Hacker Manifesto) is a small essay written January 8, 1986 by a hacker who went by the handle (or pseudonym) of The Mentor (born Loyd Blankenship). It was written after the author’s arrest, and first published in the underground hacker ezine Phrack in Volume One, Issue 7, Phile 3 of 10. Today it can be found on countless websites. It is considered a cornerstone of hacker culture, and it gives some insight into the psychology of early hackers. It is said to have shaped the hacker community’s view of itself and its motivations. The Manifesto states that hackers choose to hack because it is a way for them to learn, and because they are often frustrated and bored by the limitations of standard society. It also expresses the satori of a hacker realizing his potential in the realm of computers. To this day, the Manifesto acts as a guideline to hackers across the globe, especially those new to the field. It serves as an ethical foundation for hacking, and asserts that there is a point to hacking that supersedes selfish desires to exploit or harm other people, and that technology should be used to expand our horizons and try to keep the world free. The article is quoted in the 1995 movie Hackers, although in the movie it is being read from an issue of the hacker magazine 2600, not the historically accurate Phrack. It is also reproduced inside the CD case of the computer game Uplink. “A Hacker Manifesto” is also the name of a book written by media studies professor McKenzie Wark. The Mentor gave a reading of The Hacker Manifesto and offered additional insight at H2K2.

  • Atomic Dome at the Peace Park in Hiroshima. One of my first attempts at a HDR shot.

  • Location: Sacramento, California / Technique: HDR

  • Bob Dlyan penned “A Hard Rains a-gonna Fall in 1962. Despite many thinking the lyrics referred to nuclear fallout, Dylan has always maintained that the rain reference was not necessarily atomic, but rather referred to “something” that’s just gonna happen. I used the feathers as a antonym for hard.

In today’s world there are estimated 5,000 nuclear warheads in the United States arsenal alone

In today’s world there are estimated 5,000 nuclear warheads in the United States arsenal alone. One out of three warheads is past their “expected” life expectancy and as time goes on pose extreme environmental issues as to where to put them as they are rotated out of the arsenal. Not to mention that the delivery systems may be brittle due to rusted decay, corrosion, and other maladies of age.
