Eilean Doan Castle one of the Iconic Scotish Castles was just a magic place to visit and photograph. I spent close to 6 hours taking in the surrounds, the atmosphere and the serenity and of course the odd photo or two. Here is one of my favourites, I really like the balance of light and the reflections. I hope you like it too.

The little jetty, trees and shoreline, just below the Charlemont homestead are all mirrored in the waters of Thompsons Creek, in the stillness of the morning, just after dawn.

This weekend I did something very very silly…. / I took my new camera on a jet ski in a plastic container (i.e not waterproof housing) and got some snaps of Port Phillip Bay. We only nearly fell of the jet ski, hmmm…. repeatedly. I hope it was worth it! Thanks to my Jetski driver and all round relaxing company James / Check out joobrien.com.au

As Autumn begins to give way to winter, the morning sky and light becomes more soft, as Mother Nature takes a turn and starts her winter hibernation. This sure was a different styled shot for me. I actually intended to get down to Washington Park and shoot the sunrise but instead was greeted with something that seemed otherworldly. The sun backlighting the clouds and the dampness in the air made for quite a surreal feeling, standing here in absolute solitude, not a sound, not even the Geese you see in the water made a sound…it was ominous. I figured I would try something really different for once and got out my tripod and put on my Minolta 28mm F2.8 lens for this shot ( I am LOVING that damned lens BTW, sharp as a tack!) and started firing off shots, then it hit me,—-why don’t I try a few long exposures, and well, this is the end result. 10 seconds. Personally I kinda like it, an odd impression it gives with the Geese in the water, reminds me of a painting, and surreal as well. Does it work?? I am not entirely sure, you be the judge. I would love to hear what ya all think of this shot. I have gone ahead and submitted it under the surreal category, a category I don’t think I have ever submitted to before…. Anyways, I would love some feedback on this! / Thanks all! / -John / -—-—-—-——- See more on my website jdebordphoto.com / All artwork is © John De Bord, All Rights Reserved. Carew castle Pembrokshire South Wales is a fantastic location, I walked around this castle a lot last week as we were staying close by. The reflections were superb and here photographed as the sun was going down in the stillness of a warm summers evening a magical and mysterious time. Hope you like it.

Fishermen at the Silvrettasee (Silvretta Lake), Silvretta, Austrian Alps. / After a day-long hiking through the Silvretta mountains, I was deeply impressed by the peaceful mood and green-grey beauty of the Silvretta Lake. Ice-cold waters rushing from the glaciers of Piz Buin and its neighbours created an amazing abstract form of the lake shore.

Country Lake Thunderstorms One of the things I have come to really value about living in Colorado is the ability to be able to get a little “off the beaten path”, as we say, in the matter of no time. You add that in with the element of having some of the changing weather anywhere, and you just never know what you will happen upon. Take this scene here, the clouds, so dark, came out of no where and fast, with the rumble of thunder, captured outside of Evergreen, Colorado, this storm would later be the very same storm which caused havoc with Tornado’s and ripped the town of Windsor to shreds. Glad I wasn’t around anywhere when that happened, considering how much they scare the heck outta me! It was a much calmer scene when I photographed it here, and an lake/pond that was not named. It ws actually quite serene and tranquil…. Processed in HDR, output through Lightroom/Photomatic/LucisArt/Photoshop / Thoughts welcomed / —-John

The Mo-Kan train bridge…connecting the 2 states…..on a beautiful foggy morning that is so rarely witnessed here…ESPECIALLY this thick. / Currently? The flood waters are almost up to the bottom of this bridge…which is one of two crossing this spot.

Painted from an 1880’s photo, of the fishing port of Whitby on the North East coast of England. Here, laid up, is the collier brig, ‘Opal’ The ruins of the priory, immortalised by Bram Stoker’s Dracula, can be seen on the hill. My first pen and watercolour work. Watercolour washes over a pencil drawing, then finished in ink. Hannemuhle, 200lb paper 7”x 8”.

To give an indication of the sheer size and scale of this cloud mass, on the bottom right of this image there are some full-sized pine trees and that small white dot next to them is a huge lighthouse sitting on the end of an island. . . Digital Camera

Gallery 1 / Gallery 2 / Gallery 3 / Gallery 4 / Gallery 5 / Gallery 6 ====================== / Best viewed in large view for details Bad Nauheim is a town in the Wetteraukreis district of Hesse state of Germany. As of 2004, Bad Nauheim has a population of 30,365. The town is located approximately 35 kilometers (22 mi) north of Frankfurt am Main, on the east edge of the Taunus mountain range. It is a world-famous resort, noted for its salt springs, which are used to treat heart and nerve diseases. In the old town center of Bad Nauheim is the tithe barn at the gate to the castle: The barn was used by Elvis Presley as the motif of a record cover. Elvis Presley lived in Bad Nauheim during his time with the US Army in Friedberg. Other famous people whom have stayed in the town include Franklin Delano Roosevelt (As a boy, FDR had been taken for several extended visits to Bad Nauheim where his father underwent the water cure for his heart condition) and the Saudi Arabian football team during the 2006 FIFA World Cup. In addition, during World War II Hitler had a command complex in nearby Langenhain-Ziegenberg called Adlerhorst, “the Eagle’s Nest” (not to be confused with Kehlsteinhaus of Obersalzberg, which was never referred to as “the Eagle’s Nest” by the Nazis).
