I tried to make the Aster look a little soft.

Photographing the Milky Way with a standard DSLR camera
Featured in A Beautiful Blur October 2, 2008. Only a bit of sharpening and the removal of a spider’s drag line on this one … all the rest is as the camera saw it. These asters are about 2 inches in diameter … I think??
pretty purple Asters..
This butterfly ‘landed’ on this flower, but if you look closely, it is really just holding on by the most precarious of grips. Its back feet are kind of on tip-toe and its front feet are barely touching the flower. Masterfully balanced, it makes the whole thing look easy. LavenderMoon~

Having fun with short dof on one of the pretty asters in my garden on an early morning in September of ‘08. Hand held Image taken with the Nikon D40x and the 60mm macro/micro Nikon lens. Shutter speed 1/400, aperture f/5.0, exp. 0.00, iso 200. As Is.
One of the coldest places in the universe grows the most beatuiful form of Asters I have ever seen. Chalis IX has a variety of plants that bloom under and in on the ice tundras. Who would have thought this possible? I think I will stay in warmer climes to garden thank you. :o) Created in Apophysis 3D Hack. Postwork in Photoshop. Featured in: Flame Apophysis Sept 2009
This male hover fly (Toxomerus geminatus) was so intent on getting a taste of the pollen on this purple aster that it would not move off for any reason. Photographed at the Cranberry Peatlands Interpretive Trail – Alberton Township, near Fort Frances, Ontario. Minolta 7D with my Tamron 90 mm f2.8 macro tripod mounted. I love these flowers – sort of like little daisies with their white petals and the way they command a field and empty garden if left to do so… it’s amazing! Little but powerful – I do love these! Used Redfield’s fractallius to give these babies a punch .. and painted look!
