Vast rows of deciduous trees can be seen in perfect columns, displaying their autumn attire, at this tree farm in eastern Oregon. Tree farmers sow rows of trees in varying stages so they can be harvested at different times and therefore produce a constant yield to maintain a consistent gross. Eastern Oregon October 2007

This painting was inspired by a walk in the Aspen woods around park city, Utah. To me Aspens are the supermodels of the tree world – all slender trunk and tiny branches. Get them at the right time and the ground really looks this colour….. to further explore the theme

With this in mind, I often try to capture more than a documentary view of place by listening to the whispers of trees and grass which guide me to the path between reality and a spiritual connection. In this image the living mystery of Spring emerges.

Autumn Travels Shot in Alluvial Fan area of Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado What a scene that just glowed…and I mean GLOWED. It made your jaw just drop open. I am fortunate in that no one else was there, and was lucky to be able to take about 100 shots of this scene alone, playing with composition and such, and custom white balance settings, and in this one, something similar to a sunset setting was used. The Aspen Stand This shot got some really good feedback over on FredMiranda.com so I thought that I would go ahead and share it with you all here as well. Photographed in Rocky Mountain National Park, this is the type of Fall Aspen shot I have wanted, but for some reason, whenever I have shot these kinds of shots in the past, they just never really have come out. Well, I think it did this time. It is almost to much of an iconic Colorado in Autumn photo, but I think one thing makes this one stand out from others. The lines. If you notice the black areas of the bark on the Aspen, that is actually where the Elk have eaten away at the bark. However, I like how it creates the line from left to right, going up higher as it goes to the right. I didn’t even notice this until I was processing the shot, and I suppose you can blame that on negative space. I suppose you can say that I am happy with the shot, I finally got the Autumn image I have always wanted. For those of you who don’t know how beautiful the Colorado Aspen’s are in Autumn, just ask Judy, she will be glad to tell ya! Let me know what ya think! / —-John

Based on the campaign poster for Hunter S Thompsons run for sheriff in Aspen. A two thumbed red hand holding a peyote. Has a distressed effect I have one of these myself and it turned out spiffing I must say.

pencil on paper drawing – image size: 30” wide x 22” high (ORIGINAL SOLD) The title is a play on the word and the physicality of the drawing itself. If you turn this drawing on each side, and upside down, you will see the same face looking at you. (All ways) It also is a memorial – to commemorate some friends and family in my life who passed on but who I’ll remember and want noted for “always”. There are names in the trees and bark, and there is even a tiny little poem in the grass. Good luck finding it. I can only when looking at the original. This lake is located in Black Forest, Colorado. The mountain peak in the background is Pikes Peak, ele. 14,110 ft. A storm was approaching from the mountain. The trees that are changing are called “aspens.”
