  • Where is he going? / What is he escaping from? / Why is he climbing that wall? / Where is he? / What is up there? / Where is the light coming from? I know the answers, but I’m not telling. You figure it out….

  • Croagh Patrick mountain, County Mayo, Ireland sacred to Saint Patrick

  • Taken inside the former Operations Room of the now-abandoned Red Cliff Radar Station. The ladder actually leads up to a section of the second floor that has no other discernible access. The ruins are in complete disrepair, but are used frequently by both hikers and paintball enthusiasts. More from this series For more information (and photos dating back to the 1950s) of this historic site, please visit the Red Cliff History section of the Unofficial Logy Bay – Outer Cove – Middle Cove website.

  • Climber, West Ridge, Forbidden Peak North Cascades National Park, Washington

  • Macro shot of rust on the side of an old barge “Miss Morgan” at Apalachicola, Florida. This is one in a series of shots of this derelict barge that is rusting away at the wharf. Sold a framed print at a local Gallery where I had a show of 13 abstracts. Nikon D80 on Tripod 75mm 1/60s f/5.3 ISO 100. Featured in Rusty, Crusty, Falling to Bits group March 09. / /

  • One for all the climbers out there. A 900 Newton mountain climber scales a 100 metre cliff. How much work is done by the mountain climber? How long did this take in minutes if the climber used 88 watts of power?

  • A colour macro photograph of a ladybug walking on a blade of grass. Canon 5D/2.8 100mm macro

  • Vast and immobile, formless and marvellous, / Higher than Heaven, wider than the universe, / In a pure glory of being, / In a bright stillness of self-seeing, / Communing with a boundlessness voiceless and intimate, / Make thy knowledge too high for thought, thy joy too deep for emotion; / At rest in the unchanging Light, mute with the wordless self-vision, / Spirit, pass out of thyself; Soul, escape from the clutch of Nature. Sri Aurobindo

  • Okay, here goes… first work on RB. Just want to make some pleasing images inspired by the planets and the astrological archetypes they represent. (Hey, I like both astrology and astronomy, go fig!) Luna is the yin to Sol’s yang. She is feminine, ruling the cycles of fertility the world relies upon to survive. She is the brightest guide in the night sky. I’m doing a lot of experimentation with figure textures and renders using my poor old Poser 5 program. I don’t like to use Poser too much and do a lot more hand-done post work rather than relying on Poser to create the image holus-bolus. The figure was the only aspect made with Poser. “Luna” has been a featured work at the “Peace, Love and Tranquility” group, 22-8-09, and “The Divine Feminine”, 30-10-09.

  • This is just one of the views of the first part of the ascent up to Ben Nevis, the highest Mountain in Scotland and the British Isles. / This was the first Mountain out of 3 in 3 days, the other 2 were Scafell pike in England and Snowdon in Wales. / As you can see the light wasn’t the best and it only got worst the higher I went up. / Shot with a Nikon D300 and 18-70 mm lens /

  • Another shot of one of the views of my ascent up to Ben Nevis, the highest Mountain in Scotland and the British Isles. 1344 metres. This was the first Mountain out of 3 in 3 days, the other 2 were Scafell pike in England and Snowdon in Wales. / As you can see the light wasn’t the best and it only got worst the higher I went up. / Shot with a Nikon D300 and 18-70mm lens. /

  • This is the last shot I took on my ascent of Ben Nevis, the highest point in Scotland and the British isles, this is a shot looking into Glen Nevis and beyond into the Scottish Highlands.. / This is my last shot off this walk as the weather really turned nasty just after this point and I had to pack my camera deep into my rucsack to prevent it getting a soaking, it still got soaked but that’s another story. / Shot with a Nikon D300 and 18-70mm lens. /

  • Shot from my ascent of Scafell pike in the English lake district national park, Cumbria. / MUCH BETTER VIEWED LARGE / At this point the weather started to turn nasty again before I reached the summit which is the highest in England at 978metres high. / Shot with a Nikon D300 and 18-70mm lens / f13 1/100sec shutter speed / ISO 200 /

  • Sold as a mounted print September 2009 / Views of a small part of the English lake district national park as seen from my ascent of Scafell pike ( the easy way ;-P LOL ). / Shot with a Nikon D300 and 18-70mm lens. /

  • My obsession with the sea will never stop. Memories of years spent searching the shores and shallows of Florida were the inspiration for this image. The first layer is peeling paint on the outside of an old wooden boat, the second layer is a close-up of driftwood, and the last….a relic from my saltlife reveries…

  • Mermaid ascending into the unknown / Available as an art print, card, canvas, mounted print and poster. 3D and Twisted Brush natural painting medium program / Image copyright © 2009 Shanina Conway. / Copying and displaying or redistribution of this image without permission from the artist is strictly prohibited /

  • North Conway, New Hampshire / Cathedral Ledge / Nikon D40, Nikkor VR 55-500mm lens / October 2009 “Rock climbing is a sport n which participants climb up or across natural rock formations or man-made rock walls. The goal is to reach the summit of a formation or the endpoint of a pre-defined route. Rock climbing is a physically and mentally demanding sport, one that often tests a climber’s strength, endurance, agility, and balance along with his or her mental control. It can be a dangerous sport and knowledge of proper climbing techniques and usage of specialized equipment is crucial for the safe completion of routes.” / ~ Wikipedia
