Medium : Acrylic on canvas / Size : 2’ x 4’ / Year competed : 1992 / This painting is part of the collection of artwork I did during my military service, this collection is entitled : The Army Years. / This painting is the second spiritual paint, I did, the first spiritual painting i did ,was the first version of this one, but I did a somewhat mono chromatic blue version. This painting , and the Victory Through Prayer paint, won prizes in a army post art show, at Ft. Lewis WA. The army had three professional artist to judge the show. Living Water took 1st place, and Victory Through Prayer took honorable mention. / This painting illustrates how God gives life to the dead, we with out salvation through Christ, are the living dead. For Life is to know, and commune with God. / understanding the symbols: / The desert = a cursed world with decay and death / The skull = the result of sin, we will all face death. / the cross = the price that Christ pained, that man may be freed from the penalty of sin. / the water fall = eternal life for all who will repent from sin and live their lives in service to God through faith in Christ. / The floral covered hill = the redeemed creation, the future new earth and heavens God will create, that will have the absence of the cruse of sin, no decay or death will be found. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is my paintbrush.

Lakewood, New Jersey / Oct 2009 / Nikon D80 w/24-120 mm VR Lake Carasaljo A man-made lake in the center of Lakewood Township, New Jersey, Lake Carasaljo and its sister, Lake Manetta, were created by the damming a northern tributary of the Metedeconk River in 1883, when Lakewood was the site of the Bergen Iron Works. Lake Carasaljo is named after the three daughters of the owner of the Bergen Iron Works, Joseph Woolston Brick, for whom Brick Township, New Jersey is named. His daughters were named Caroline(nicknamed ‘Carrie’), Sarah (‘Sally’) and Josephine (‘Jo’). Brick’s wife Manetta lent her name to its sister lake.[1] Local legend is that the three girls drowned in the lake, which was subsequently named after them. Historical documents show the three girls were alive when the lake was named. Another man-made lake, Lake Shenandoah, is also found along the same branch of the Metedeconk River and is part of the Ocean County, New Jersey Department of Parks and Recreation. Georgian Court University, which is on the grounds of what was once an estate of George Jay Gould, is on the northern shore of the lake. The lake is bound on the north side by North Lake Drive, on the south by South Lake Drive, on the east by U.S. Route 9 (also known as River Road) and on the west by Hope Chapel Road. It is separated from Lake Manetta by the Central Avenue Bridge. According to former E Street Band drummer Vini Lopez Lake Carasaljo is one the places that contribute to the vocal story of the Bruce Springsteen song Spirit In The Night. Springsteen; a Freehold native, wrote the song about a group of teenage youths spending a wild night out at a fictional place called “Greasy Lake,” which was located a “Mile down the dark side of Route 88.” Lopez also states that an unnamed lake in the south end of Lakewood near Exit 88 of the Garden State Parkway is the other location that helped forge the song. The song itself appears on Springsteen’s Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. album, and has become one of his most popular songs.
