Fourteen photos were used in this photo manipulation, and it took seven hours to create. With this piece, I wanted to create something elegant but also meaningful. There are connections between all things in our lives. Our parents and ancestors connect us to other people. Our regions, schools, clubs, workplaces and even Internet groups connect us to others. Life connects us to one world, death to another. One day, we will be dust. We are connected, rooted, to these and many other parts of our existence. *My work was featured in the group Video Montage / ( Thanks Muscular Teeth and Butchart ) Excerpt from “Abigail’s Friends” written by Anthony Hedger illustrated by Carrie Glenn. ...“I think we better go back now.” She whispered to the butterfly. / “Why?” The butterfly asked. “It’s only my friends and they are having a special tea party just for you, come on and I’ll introduce you to them.” / “Er, ok, if you think I’ll be alright?” / “Of course you’ll be alright.” The red fox called to her. “Come on your tea is getting cold.” / So for the next two hours Abigail sat with Mr. Fox, Mr. Bear, Miss Rabbit, Ms. Blue bird and a hundred different butterflies and had tea and cake and chatted as though she had known them all her life. A beautiful poem written by my wonderful, talented friend Lina…you inspire us all! / / Tree Nature / She kept growing beyond her means / what I mean is, / she kept growing beyond what she desired yesterday, / she thought / if only, / If only I was … better at this…. Problem was she did become better at everything / she desired to become better at! / and still, more / would call her forth like a tree in the forest.. / she fell so many times / yet, none seem to hear her falling / her pain / her fears except maybe her own heart. That felt lonely. Until, / One day she looked deep within / And it was here / She saw and felt / Her tree nature appear / Like a totem / A solemn answer / To the questions she brought / forth She branched out within herself / And the expectations began to subside / What she discovered was / She was best at growing / Some would call it expanding. If she could learn to live in the moments / Between desire, expansion desire.. / She thought perhaps I could find a balance / Of sorts, / Contentment at best / Liberation from her limitless / Limits!! After all, she was like a tree / Happiest when she was in the process / Of Becoming!! / It was only in the thought that she needed to arrive Anywhere That pain seemed to preside / And fear would rear So she planted her feet squarely underneath her and / Allowed her tree nature to shine through. All manner of miracles happened then. / She discovered the art of / Allowing / And her Art, the very core of all that she was and is, / Flourished / Because she knew, She, / Like a tree, Just kept on growing, / Until growing became knowing Knowing, We are never finished and we are never done.
