My work was the WINNER of the Faerie World groups competition , “The Brothers Grimm”. Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote for me and those that support my work! Excerpt from Grimm Brother’s, Cinderella Story “Now that no one else was at home, Cinderella went to her mother’s grave beneath the hazel tree, and cried out: Shake and quiver, little tree, / Throw gold and silver down to me. / Then the bird threw a gold and silver dress down to her, and slippers embroidered with silk and silver. She quickly put on the dress and went to the festival….read more This is my artistic depiction of the Grimm Brother’s Cinderella. I used artistic license to add the fairies to the tree, the flowers and her dress. I even created a special fairy showering Cinderella with magic creating her dress, her crown, the carriage and horses. Oils on stretched canvas 1.02mx1.02m 2004 / Collection of the artist. This painting represents my interpretation of the Celtic Horse Goddess, Epona – a blending of the feminine within what appears to be a masculine horse, the woman’s silhouette in black combined with the white of the horse, yin & yang. Her hand & hair flow into the mane like tree roots, she is part of the earth, yet also the air – mythical, magical yet also a part of Mother Nature. Look on top of the mountain – for the snowline is in the shape of a horse lying on its side. My inspiration for this painting was my love of coloured horses, actually one of my own blue-eyed Paints. No two Paint Horses are alike, each has it’s own unique colour & pattern. Often where the hair colours meet the markings will have an outline which is known as a ‘watermark’. This one is grey – (black blended into white). A series of creepy creatures….......... Too colorful for most and the face forward portraits are the least appealing…..not many people want to hang these because it always feels as if you are being watched ;) I have sold some of these But I’m not hanging any of them myself, in fact my home decorating style is in complete contrast to what I do. It would be a lot cheaper if I would just produce the type of art I typically buy but I seldom feel inspired to do so LOL. Colored pencil on thick smooth art paper 11×14 / & black sharpie. I might have to retake this…........I’m not sure I like the lighting
