  We all have artists on our watchlist that we think are wonderful, but who may not get the recognition they deserve or their work just gets passed by in the influx of daily work here on Redbubble. I would like to form a journal entry here that serves the purpose of bringing awareness and traffic to these underappreciated artists, so my proposal is that anyone who wished to come into this journal and post 1 or 2 links to artists on their watchlists whom they absolutely adore. This idea was originally begun by JULIE LANGFORD so please be sure to visit her journal HERE too for more amazing work! Also feel free to link to their images as well, and try not to repeat the same artists as have already been mentioned and promoted. This way we can get the word out about so many of these tremendous hidden talents here at Redbubble. I have two artists I would now like to introduce to you that I have on my watchlist: David Linkenauger and Shelley Spillenaar David is one of my fellow home state photographers and takes really nice waterscape images, and Shelley in my mmind has a wonderful eye and a keen sense of capturing the right moment with animals. Please go take a look at the wonderful work of these two artists, and if you like what you see be sure to tell them so and maybe even add them to your watchlist! Also, be sure to scan your own watchlist for someone who you think deserves more attention than they are currently getting in the world of Redbubble! Let’s make this a huge success!

  An interview with the very talented artist – Jennifer Woodward / Jen is one of the co-hosts of the Space 2008 and Beyond group / ..................................................................................................................................... / How does being a creative person and pursuing your creativity affect other aspects of your life? / ..................................................................................................................................... / If I can’t express myself creatively, I wither and fade away. It’s a fundamental part of who I am, and it’s only been over the last year or so, I’ve begun to understand just how important this part of my identity is. I think the things that come naturally to us are sometimes the hardest things to do. When it comes to our careers, I feel there is a certain guilt attached to finding a job that we actually enjoy. This seems ever more apparent in the field of the creative arts. It seems the more we find something enjoyable, the more it is viewed as a hobby. And how can a hobby be a job? Easily… because it’s what we’re interested in, and it’s what we’re good at! It’s very easy to go through life pursuing the grass that we think is greener, especially if others keep telling us it’s the only place we can find a living. But what we all should be doing, is working with our strengths, and improving on the things we were born with. We each have our own patch of green grass, and it’s up to us if we decide to start growing flowers on it. And if we nurture them, they might even be pretty enough to sell. I’m not the kind of person that gets bored easily. My mind is always on the go, and I sometimes daydream so much I forget where I am! This can be a problem when travelling on public transport. I once travelled 30 or so miles by train in the wrong direction before I realised. Then I got fined when I got back for not having a valid ticket! I can live in my imagination at times, and this was particularly the case at school. I was certainly the daydreamer of the class. / ..................................................................................................................................... / Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful / ..................................................................................................................................... / I can remember when my first work, santa, got featured on the homepage. There was a beautiful story to go with Julie Langford’s extraordinary image, by the very talented writer and photographer, ECGardner Unfortunately, it seems to have been removed. It was about about an elephant’s demise at the hands of poachers. It moved me to tears. Muriel’s Tears Robert Mullner’s work, Monkey Day Spa, really made me smile. A perfect capture of a tender moment. I remember when I first stumbled upon Robert’s portfolio. I’ve never been on such a visual journey! Simply stunning work. Monkey Day Spa RED HAIR TALE by “botticelli”: fires my imagination and makes me want to write about far away lands by the sea… Sande Elkins Sunrise Sunset is simply stunning, and immediately connects me to the horses I know Sande has so much love for’ This image by Ken Mucke reminded me of when I went to the ballet for the first time. I knew I’d cry! I also admire Paul Vanzella’s approach to portraiture with his signature style and the concepts behind his work; kcranmer for her beautiful imagery and more recently, her portraiture and collaborations and many more!   I’ve finally had a chance to add a few images to my portfolio, so far only a few of them are available for sale because I need to take bigger pictures or ones of the final artwork that actually has my signature on it. A few images will remain as “not for sale” because they are commissioned artwork that I do not have permission to profit from print sales. In addition, have three new dog acrylic paintings nearly completed that I will be adding later this week, hopefully. Yep, as you can probably tell, I’m mostly a dog painter. Some people see dead people. Well, I paint dogs. And other animals, specifically pets such as cats and horses, because I am a pet portrait artist, but dogs are my usual subject matter and the major inspiration for my artwork. SM – I’ve always had an urge to create. As a child, I sketched; as an adult, I thought up poems and stories; many of them never making it to paper. Now that I’ve retired and gone back to photography, I think creativity has become my life in a way. In day to day living, I find myself looking at things with an artist’s eye: the capture of an image, the reworking of that image, and the display or presentation of that image or piece. I’m socializing more, making plans and taking photographic day trips. I am more inclined to initiate a conversation, than be drawn into one. I’ve had two showings of my work with a third coming up in November. These are things that I never visualized I would be doing in my latter years. In all, I think I am a better person because of this pursuit. I am less intense and more relaxed. / ...................................................................................................................................................... AV – Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful. / ...................................................................................................................................................... SM – I would have to say that that would be you. I’ve always been a Trekkie, so to speak. Star Trek, Star Wars, anything futuristic and otherworldly interest me, even the books I read. David Weber can not write fast enough for me. Until I saw your work, most of my photography dealt with the actual subjects and their final presentation to the viewer. It was all about what I visually saw, with a few embellishments to improve it. When I came across the group Sci Fi – Multi Genre, now renamed Sci Fi, I was fascinated. Your work in particular, giant alien vistas, suddenly made me realize that there was more I could do with my photographs. I began to see my earth landscapes with alien skies. My earth landscapes transmuted into alien landscapes. I guess this was the ultimate goal of a friend on mine, Sassafras, who persuaded me to join RB knowing I had become bored with my photography. / I mean how many pictures do you take of statues? How many do you take of buildings? They are all alike. No they are not! Each is a moment in time, different lighting and different shading. Then after viewing your creations, I saw that they could become different settings on different worlds. / A building could even become a spaceship traveling through space at warp speed. I thank you for that, for letting me see that a door was not closing, but opening. / ...................................................................................................................................................... SM – That’s a hard one. There are so many accomplished artists here on RB, producing so many fine works. 1 Cheri McEachin Her portraitures are nothing less than magnificent. Mystery, Secluded, Wicked, even God Bless, are all inspiring work. I can’t pick any one picture. She showed me what one of my mentors has been telling me for a while; move in on your subject! / ...................................................................................................................................................... 2 Sports Photography Oddly enough, a group not an individual, inspired me to do a piece in my Journal entitled A Race Well Run. This group was Sports Photography. Everyone captures that excellent athlete, the jock as it were. I wanted to show that a race, just like everything in life, has many different components, and many different people participating. I think the human race is better for it. / ...................................................................................................................................................... 3 Jim Worrall His sky and cloud vistas taught me to push the limits of my skies. / ...................................................................................................................................................... 4. AlienVisitor Ice World, Blue Horizon, and other works from the artist, AlienVisitor, made me look at scale, balance, and color. I continue to see things that I need to experiment with on my own work, hopefully to improve my images. At this point, I really can’t boil a few artists down from the many that I have seen and wanted to emulate in some fashion. I’ve seen different artists in different genres that I’ve admired. If you look at my gallery, you might think that I was having an identity crisis. You find pictures of almost everything in my gallery. I would also like to say that I am very happy to be a part of the Red Bubble community. It has allowed me to see the works of people all over the globe, beauty of which I would otherwise be unaware. Here is his insightful interview Tell us about yourself and your background I am is a self taught, weekend new Oil on Canvas Artist, Lecturer, Scientist and Consultant lives in Sydney , Australia. I hold Ph.D in Physics and Masters in Internetworking from UTS. I have found art to be very refreshing to creativity and have a profound impact on people to convey a message easily and effectively. Describe your artistic journey. How does it affect your life? Well I am a keen observer with high level of imagination, intuition, and excelled in Art work and drawing in my H.SC. But persued the science stream. But I did realise there is something else I want to devote my talent and share with the world to make a positive difference in the life of people. Only 3 years ago, I was given as one of surprise gift as a set of small canvas and set or colors on my birthday and I just painted the first portrait and started from there. I do my day job as a employment consultant helping unemployed people to find work and mentor & as a life coach; to over come their barrier like no family support, lack of education and training, lack of money, no experience, loneliness, loveless life, addictions – Drinking, Gaming, Drugs, mental health etc. I found it challenging and realised that the people are just struggling badly and need sound & holistic support services and strategies to empower them to stand on their own two feet. Other than that, I do spend my evenings, nights & weekend with non-stop painting and I felt great, over the moon, with sheer joy, no stress at all.. What inspires you to paint? Perhaps the helpless people in the society forced me to paint love art. My Love Art work is to enhance love , life and bring back Romance to energise our life and is being used as “ Love- Art- Therapy ( LAT) ” successfully, which transform the people into a heavenly state having sheer Joy, Happiness, Bubbly nature, a great Hope, Confidence and overcome anxiety, depression, helplessness as people view his art work Sunil sees this world as a small village having mutual dependence among the People, Animals, and Nature; and has identified a set of values. For Atheist my definition for God or Goddess in Superman or Superwomen, I am providing my views and experiences to help people if they can follow nature and natural laws. I believe that natures way is a way to go and it will help people to stay healthy and disease free God (Love, Romance, Righteousness, Humility ) gives pure pleasure and sooth our heart , on the other hand Satan (Selfishness, Narrow Mindedness, lust, Greed) gives us sheer grief, miseries and heart ache. The people have to decide, NOW ! what do I want in my life in long term and it will come. / Yes ..You are a God or Goddess NOW….Take a big breathe….focus on yourself…You are a role model…You here to enjoy, cherish loving experience. You have decided to be a God or Goddess with a flick of finger… Congratulations! / In order to achieve and enjoy Godliness, the challenge is to integrate The Body, Mind and Spirit in cohesion and make a purpose of life to Live , Enjoy, Love, Romance, spontaneous and bubbly. / Our body needs Oxygen, Water, Food, exercise and cleaning to function at optimum. / Morning Ritual: / Take shower daily with cold water round the year for heath , vitality and live disease free. No Bacteria can withstand cold water and will die immediately and will never return back. To given you additional immunity Use Tea Tree oil one capful in a bath tub, as disinfectant as it is antifungal , antibacterial and antiseptic . Exercise and Dress up for the day ready to enjoy every moment. / Oxygen : / Let me first teach you how to BRAETH correctly which is fundamental to our life existence and cause to all deceases and ailments. Relax..Allow the heart & chest to relax, take a deep breath by inhalation, pause a second and slowly release till the last bit hold a second and continue inhaling. The cycle should go on as Body and Mind needs oxygen to function. Focus on your breath long inhale. / Water: / Our body continuously needs water to transport nutrients through the blood and remove impurities from each cell of body. The lack of water in the body will shut down the natural cleaning process and toxins will deposit on body organs and will lead to diseases. We need a glass of Luke warm every 2 hours while awake. / Food: Healthy Food / Eat Healthy and fresh food and a variety of food to cover 103 elements found on the mother Earth. Describe your artistic journey. How does it affect your life? Well I am a keen observer with high level of imagination, intuition, and excelled in Art work and drawing in my H.SC. Only 3 years ago, I was given as one of surprise gift as a set of small canvas and set or colors on my birthday and I just painted the first portrait and started from there.   The ocean wild and free, depicts our own freedom, under the law, but free in spirit. To make a Seascape come alive, the best medium to use is oil. 4 layers of it. To imaging yourself on the bottom of the fathomless sea, then ascending, using the colors accordingly, from the darkest to the very lightest on the surface, no white colors whatsoever to be mixed into these pure colors, that way using the opaque colors on the bottom of the ocean and the transparent on the surface, you will get a seascape, of clear water, three dimensional, where you can actually look into the depths.

  Now that ive got everybodies attention. / Very warm welcome to Christiaan Art Gallerie, sit back and enjoy my world of paintings. / Im new in this and, so i need people to see me and help me make a decent living.Advice is also welcome aswell as critic.Years ago when someone would tell me that he/she has a passion for a certain thing, i would think, how can someone have a passion for a certain thing, if there are alot of things and hobbies etc. to do in life! And then, i ask myself: What is passion in my life? Well i had alot of passions i thought, and had to decide on which one i like the best, because all my passions took to much time, and left me frustrated. I always know that i love to paint, but i didnt thought much of my paintings and as the time passes, i got better and i developed a certain style. And now i cant wait to do the next painting, and i know now what passion is. I think if you found passion in life then your on the right track. I believe that the beauty of art is good for the sanity of the mind,. You can escape from the present for perhaps the moment and travel to another world. It enables expression of the soul, the urge to be free of all bounds. Encourages exploration. Reflects our perceptions, our values and emotional reaction towards the paintings we creat.
