Hey everyone!! The wonderfully creative Jo O’Brien has just begun a chain of interviews to bring all of us closer to some of our favorite artists!! The first ball was given to MuscularTeeth who interviewed the famous Karin Taylor and Butchart. Karin then proceed to interview me and Mui-Ling !! What an honor!! Yay!! So now presenting Midori Furze!!! ....................................................................................................................................................... How does being a creative person and pursuing your creativity affect other aspect of your life? I carry a timer set up as an alarm clock. / When I am in the mode of creativity I often forget the time, so I set the timer for whenever my next important time will be e.g. picking up children, start cooking dinner or phone call someone. / When the bell goes, I switch myself and remember where I am and do what I’m suppose to do so I can manage my days on this planet. / I also have a diary which tells me what I must do on that day. / If the diary has a blank space, I smile and go straight to my studio and stay there all day but these days I always have something on it. : ((( / I am lucky to have a husband who accepts me as I am. I hope he does. / He might believe that it’s normal because I am Japanese. Hehehe… / By the way I thought he was a bit different from others but I liked him as he is and I thought “Well… he is an unusual guy. I guess because he is an Australian!!” After we moved to Australia I realised he IS a unique, even from others in Australia. Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful I am a great fan of Karin Taylor and Frozenfa. I know many wonderful people on Red Bubble and I love them too, but Karin and fa are soooooooooooooo special to me. / They are special to many people on RB and I am proud I know them too. / Oh, it has to be one person? / OK then, that will be TIM ( the Twisted Inner Monster is a Frozenfa’s creation). / I know he isn’t really a person, but I think he is close enough. / He makes me smile. / He makes me laugh. / Hug~! Show & tell us about five works on redbubble that have moved or inspired you I have been on RB for 6 months, and I have met a lot of wonderful people and seen great artworks. It is very difficult to choose only 5 works. Can I put 50? No? Oh, it is soooooooooooooo tough!! OK, here it is… / The Band! by Ellen / Ron Carter 02 by Jean M. Laffita / Shoreline by kafka / Dead Friends 5 by John Douglas / Imaginary Life 2007 by Paul Ruiz If you see their works, you will understand why I choose them!! / I’m also inspired by these lovely people and their works, – hahpistuff, Ken Mucke, Tine Wiggens, yanmos, Matt Tworkowski, vladstudio, girlinthestars, Cailean, Ronald wigman and of course Karin Taylor and Frozenfa. Sorry I can’t mention all of you. : ((( / Thank you for reading. / Lots of loooooooove and a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig hug! ....................................................................................................................................................... Thank you SO SO much for your time and effort, Midori!!!! Thanks for letting me do this interview with you! Hugs!! XD / I think Midori is a wonderful artist who’s great in both painting and digital work! you should really check out her gallery here Have you seen her portfolio of the exhibitions she’s been involved in? I think she’s really great, not to mention so very kind and friendly!! Thank you so much for doing this interview with me, Midori!! =D And of course thank you everyone for reading!! do me and Midori a favor and help journal about this interview to let all your friends know, will ya? am quite a small fry with not many ppl watching me, so it’d be great if others can read this interview too! Hell, am so broadcasting this interview into my blog for everyone to see. Is it ok, Midori? =D PS: Tim is squealing like a lil school girl in my head, it’s so funny.. ahahahah.. XD / Tim: Am NOT SQUEALING!! squeal!!! oooh i’d so glomp Midori-sama!!! XD

Yay!! And so yesterday i’ve managed to interview Midori Furze!! am so so thankful that she’s willing to take the time to answer. Please do read her interview here!! =D Now presenting one of my favorite artist on RB, BarbBarcikKeith!!! / / ......................................................................................................................................................... My Creativity How does being a creative person and pursuing your creativity affect other aspects of your life? You know, the first thing that popped into my head with this question is “don’t clean the house very much”!! I do what I have to do only.. nothing extra. The house still manages to get clean (with only 2 of us here, it’s not that hard!) though. / Actually, I don’t get out much. I have deadlines and things that I have to get done so I’m at the drawing board as often as possible. I do take breaks because my hands won’t allow me to stay at it as long as I would like to. BUT.. I am married to a man that does the wash.. cooks the meals.. does the shopping and even runs the vacuum every once in a while and THAT really helps a lot. He does hate my headphones though… Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful One person??? You must be mad! I’ve been on RB for about 8 months now and I don’t think I’ve ever met a more caring, considerate or complimentary group of people in my life! The encouragement is wonderful and the camaraderie and extremely helpful. I’ve recommended the Bubble to other artists on other sites as well and the ones that have actually joined have found it a lot like home… Show & tell us about five works on redbubble that have moved or inspired you / In no particular order: / The Letter by Roz McQuillan touched me with the way the painting is done just enough to let you know that something important is happening. Love the way she did it.. and find it inspiring in many ways. / Temptress by Lindseyh blew my mind the first time I saw it! I thought the execution exceptional but the idea of it all was just too cool.. (you sure I can only have five?) / Then there is Falcon Studies by eric shepherd is simply PERFECT! I love the way he put all if it together.. the colors, the background.. everything about it is inspiring.. / I Drew Drew by alleycatsgarden which is really superb pencil work and has given me a lot of ideas for future works. / Ruffled Gold by John Houle shows what you can do with a simple pencil. The way he did the feathers.. mind-blowing!! Now, I would like to mention some others that have equally inspired and awed me: Brian Towers, Carlos Solorza, Terry Dunnett, Matthew Thornburg, L.K. Southward, Randy Jones, Bec Winnel and I could go on forever but there’s only so much space. / Numerous artists, photographers have made a difference either in me or in my art. This is a great place to be!! / ......................................................................................................................................................... Thank you so so much, Barb!! Thank you for the honor. i really love your works! i’m especially touched by how you’re helping the Noah’s Lost Ark Animal Sanctuary.. and i really find you an inspiration because of how you can create such magical piece even with all the pain in your hands. it’s really encouraging. i believe anyone who’ve had RSI or is having one will be amazed to see how strong you are. Everyone, please do check out her wonderful drawings!! And do check out her shots and drawings of some of the Big Cats saved by Noah Ark, they’ll sure to blow you away !! So sorry i can only interview 2 person.. i have so many fav artist here on RB and i can only interview 2?! waaaa… T_T i can’t wait to read the interviews of the rest of you!! I think Jo will be coming up with some forum to gather all the wonderful interviews together. that’d be awesome eh? Love you all!!! (= ^ . ^ =)

I am very happy that the Blooming Trees group has made me a featured artist. Our wonderful host Kalaryder asked me if I could answer some question for an interview. I was very surprised and very happy because I never thought I would have this wonderful chance. I would like to say, THANK YOU SO MUCH to the Blooming Trees group for supporting all amateur artists. / Here is my first interview!! :)) We take pleasure in introducing another member of the Blooming Trees Group – Rainy has a truly delightful portfolio which can be viewed here / 1. What drew you to photography? / Memories, I would like to keep everything that I love, and only photographs help me keep all my good memory. / 2. What is your favorite subject to take photos of? / My favorite subject for taking photos is nature. I love it because I think nature is beautiful by itself, people can’t really create it. / 3. What camera do you use? / I have two cameras to use, the small one is Sony DSC-P200 and the bigger one is a PENTEX K 200 D. / 4. What editing program do you use? / I either use Photoshop CS2 or Picasa 2. / 5. What is your favorite image in your own portfolio and why? / My favorite artwork of mine is “Phuket Island” – the reason is, it is the first photo I put on RB and it shows a beautiful place in Thailand. / / I love all of them because each of the photos brings back a different memory, and they all have their own special beauty. / 6. What is your favorite image of your own in the Blooming Trees Group and why? / This question may have the same answer as the last one, but if I had to pick one, I would say my favorite is “Golden Shower” because it has a very good meaning. It means a POWER and LUCKY. / / 7. What are your favorite three images of other people’s work in the Blooming Trees Group and why? / The first of my favorites is Jacqi’s “Cherry Blossom Time” the reason is because I’ve never seen Cherry flowers, but would like to someday. / / The second is Gene’s “Velvety Magnolia Blossoms”. I love this one because it’s a very crisp and clear shot. You can see the detail of flowers and it has a very beautiful sky background. / / The third is Magee’s “Clusters of Pink”. I think they are very unique flowers and I love the colors, very sweet pinks and yellows. / / 8. Where would be your dream place for a photo shoot? / The place for taking photo in my dream is the North Part of Thailand. That place has a lot of beautiful mountains, flowers, waterfalls, and culture. Most important to me, is that it’s my country, my home. / 9. Last, but not least, would you like to tell us a little more about yourself and where you live. / My name is Roong Brand. I live in Lopburi Thailand. I am married to my lovely husband “Mobii”, and we have two wonderful daughters, Palmiez and Pukky. I am a government officer, my position is Chief Administrator of SAO. I work with our local government and am also working on my Master’s Degree. Mobii says he doesn’t like being referred to as “lovely”! / Have a great weekend, and thanks very much again for this chance to talk to all my friends at RB. / Rainy Now for my favourite photo in Rainy’s portfolio / Thank you from Kala and Skyhorse

  • Xmas Tree Hugs to everyone!!! The Season is truly upon us hey….busy people bustling everywhere, the heat’s a shocker in these parts too, and the only joy I find in shopping is the air conditioning !! My car has no air cond…so I look like a drowned and cranky rat by the time I enter the cool interiors of the shops…and I am sure the retailers look upon me with suspicion as i loiter in cool doorways pretending to be interested in Christmas goodies…lol / Tree Hugs Oh how I yearn for a wintery Christmas, just once!! just once!!! oh puleeeeeze, this heat is killin’ me…. at least I have air con in my studio….so it’s an enticement to create more art than usual….perhaps I will be more productive as I slink out into my studio for some much needed cool refreshment….oh if only I had a loo out there (and a bed might be a nice addition too) however I do have a lounge…upon which I found a lovely redback spider crawling just 2 day ago….so i doubt i’ll be getting tooooo comfy out there any time soon!! Also i would very much like a drip feed for coffee…anything that helps prolong my stay in the shed….of course i can make coffee out there…but the constant trips back inside the house to the loo are somewhat distracting….one, i need the coffee to stay awake, I need the cool air to keep me alive and moving, but both these things cause too many toilet trips…so Santa….what say you to some plumbing??? / Tree Hugs the unadulterated drawing now the real reason for this journal, to thank you delightful NinaMosi for purchasing a card of Tree Hug * Please visit Nina’s portfolio if you’re ever out her way in bubblyland…she does fabulous encaustic artwork that will not disappoint… it’s gorgeous stuff…plus she’s a sweetheart… you may wanna get to know her too :) Thank you Nina, and thank you everyone, and thank you Santa for listening if you’re out there….looks like a big storm over my place is gonna bust the heat right outa this joint PS:* QUESTION What are you guys doing for Christmas this year? Is it hot or cold where you live right now….what sort of yummy food will you be eating, family traditions, etc? bfn / luv yas / KT

Good Morning boys and girls! / The image has been with me for long time finally came in shape this morning. / Although it doesn’t mean I can paint it as artistic as I see it in mind, I feel confident to make it better than I did before. / It comes closer to the image in mind each time. It is important to be patience. When I lose patience I lose images. / I usually am reluctant to try but as I go on my confidence come back and I can see the art-work is coming together. / It is hard to determine which is more important confidence or the patience. I decided the both are essential. / It takes years of discipline to bring them together. / However, I am enjoying this precious Saturday morning. / Yesterday is long gone and tomorrow is far away, surfing RB without interruption. / Although, I love to receive comments beyond words I love to comment just as well and furthermore to receive reply. / I don’t use adjective too much because I want to describe my personal feelings toward your art-works accurately but it doesn’t mean they aren’t beautiful. / Just so you know:D:D:D / I love you all, tokiko

Happy New Year everyone!! Thank you to everyone who supported and encouraged me in 2009, for those that were there in the hard times I’ve really appreciated it guys and to show that appreciation, in 2010 I’ve started a new blog: / / Please bmail or email me (karintaylor@exemail.com.au) if you suffer from anxiety, depression, stress or other illness and you find drawing relieves the symptoms. I’d like to feature people on my blog, but i need you to answer the following questions, along with links to your drawings or small file attachments (your work will only be used for the purpose of the feature and for no other profitable means) The questions are as follows and I’ve included my own (sample) answers to give an idea of what I’m looking for: 1. Why do you love drawing? / eg I love drawing because it takes me into another dimension where I am weightless, buoyant and lifted from all earthly and wordly troubles and i get to express myself in a very special way, I feel fulfilled and whole after I complete a drawing, much like swimming laps or completing an exercise routine, there is a feeling of achievement. / 2. Has drawing helped to relieve symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress or illness? / Yes, whilst I’m drawing I’m on a different plane, and rarely think of or notice physical symptoms, headaches disappear, stress is gone, depression disappears for the moment, I am unaware of my anxiety and it’s a very good feeling….once I’m back from the drawing, symptoms return, but somewhat less….and I do feel much better. / 3. Where is your favourite drawing place? / I like to get cosy on my bed to draw, legs crossed or use my legs as a balance for the drawing board…i have a pile of pencils, erasers, etc…in an old cellophane fruit container….and my big pad of paper….and that’s where i feel most comfy and happy drawing ..... / My own drawings are being uploaded to the blog also as this year I will have an excess of drawings and probably not upload all of them here to the bubble, as I’m only uploading one artwork per week here, as is my New Year’s Resolution to take life easier, and I will use the blog as a way of finding wholeness and wellbeing through focussing on what works and helps keep depression at bay, according to you and according to whatever i learn through experience or research, that may include comedy, music, cognitive behavioural therapy and other things that i find helpful, or things you bring to my notice….i want to be able to tell your stories, in order to encourage myself and others in 2010 / ..... Thank you for listening! I look forward to hearing from you…Happy New Year !!! / ps…there is a link to my new blog on the front of my portfolio here at redbubble, so if you can’t find where to go or lose sight of this journal…don’t forget to look on my front page! :)

  • Christmas Joy & New Year Excitment
    by Carrie Glenn

    I hope this Christmas found…

I hope this Christmas found you and left you with much joy along with the excitement of a New Year! / A special “Thanks” to each an every one of you who purchased my artwork and apparel for Christmas gifts for your loved ones this year! Thank you to all who purchased my “New Years” greeting cards and I trust everyone had a safe and exciting New Years! There was much for me to be happy for this year as it was my first year back in California and I was able to celebrate with family that I haven’t been able to with in a while. The weather alone was a Christmas gift for me; it was clear and 75 degrees, a Holiday paradise! While it wasn’t a White Christmas it was indeed a Bright Christmas, (literally…I needed sunglasses!) I simply love everything about Christmas. Decorating the tree, the incredible smells, like pine, cinnamon and clove and baked goods. I also adore creating special presents for friends and family and wrapping them up to look irresistible. This is something I share in common with my Grandpa I recently found out, we both go nuts and all out for all Holidays. Give either of us any excuse to celebrate, enjoy seasonal food and decorations and we are all over it! I always make sure to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day, carve a pumpkin on Halloween and decorate eggs on Easter…and it doesn’t end there mind you! There is just something so wonderful about getting into the spirit of the season, especially if you are a creator. This new year was just as happy for me. I spent it at home curled up in a blanket watching movies, and made it to the countdown by watching Kill Bill Vol.’s 1. And 2., with homemade popcorn. Aaaah, and that is always a recipe for happiness for this girl. There’s something about a countdown that makes my heart leap. Unfortunately that also happens to me on those late night television sales pitches, there’s just nothing like a ticking down clock to create intensity, luckily, I am aware of this, and can avoid them as to prevent irrational purchasing of useless items! Oh, but on New Years to be counting along with so many others at the same time always brings more than a touch of nostalgia to my heart. Connecting with others is something that will probably always get to me, like the way RedBubble brings so many of us together from so many parts of the world, it’s a beautiful and wonderful thing! / Now that this New Year has arrived with much joy and anticipation from me, it is now time for something new. It’s time for me to clean up and put away all of my Holiday Festivities and move forward into this new year with a clean slate, chalk full of new ideas and creations.
