  • Being an artist allows me to experiment in different styles. From abstract to impressionistic, from rennaissance to realistic, from naive to contemporary….. But it is impossible to completely hide my recognisable style when the artwork is finished. You will find it in the eyes of people & animals, and the bright colours I so love. I have found though that my style changes with each commissioned painting I do. I tend to stay with the style of the last painting I painted until I do another commissioned painting. In this calender I chose a variety of styles I’ve done so far. You decide which style is your favourite!

  • The Little Ghost I knew her for a little ghost / That in my garden walked; / The wall is high - higher than most - / And the green gate was locked. And yet I did not think of that / Till after she was gone— / I knew her by the broad white hat, / All ruffled, she had on. By the dear ruffles round her feet, / By her small hands that hung / In their lace mitts, austere and sweet, / Her gown’s white folds among. I watched to see if she would stay, / What she would do—and oh! / She looked as if she liked the way / I let my garden grow! She bent above my favourite mint / With conscious garden grace, / She smiled and smiled—there was no hint / Of sadness in her face. She held her gown on either side / To let her slippers show, / And up the walk she went with pride, / The way great ladies go. And where the wall is built in new / And is of ivy bare / She paused—then opened and passed through / A gate that once was there. Used 3 layers, with alpha layers, made about 50% transparent with erase tool, and completely erased backgrounds. Decreased saturation to make girls B&W, and colorized the gate. Copied and pasted images into base photo of garden using GIMP2. All artwork is © Rhonda L. Hall, All Rights Reserved. • It’s a well kept secret, not many people know about it, but it is a dragon artist who paints all the fiery colours into the trees in the fall. Composite made of a smoke art photo that I had previously modified to emphasize its resemblance to a dragon, see the original Smoky Dragon for more details. I duplicated the dragon layer and blended in multiply mode in order to make it pop out a little more. Next, I added an autumn sky texture on which I applied an Orton effect, then painted in a few birds with a set of brushes that I made from my photos of seagulls. Featured in the Dragon’s Fire group on April 15, 2009 The little dragon is also available on a plain white background /

  • I was walking down he Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio with my camera in hand when I came upon this seemingly mundane scene. I quickly realized, what a interesting moment in time this would be to capture. Shot using my Canon 35mm.

  • / / Here’s the Magic Mood Chart, my question is what mood will you choose? the 5 moods I’ve chosen to express here are: / just right / a little blue / somewhere in between / bright as a button / warm and wonderful the 6th mood is up to you, or the person you give this to.. I’ve left a space for them/you to draw your own face, with the mood you choose :) It works well as a poster, card, laminated print or canvas…. i love the idea of the canvas in particular, and the laminated print, because you can use non-permanent texta/whiteboard markers to draw your face, and then wipe it off and change it whenever you like … / here’s what the poster looks like There’s been a lot of talk around the bubble lately about balance and moods, I guess it filtered through into my art. Sometimes children and grown ups find it hard to identify how they’re feeling…this little chart helps identify just a few of the many trillions of ways we could feel each day or week. This chart is meant as a reminder for myself and kids everywhere to more openly discuss moods, how we are feeling, how we are affected by them, how they affect the people around us, and mainly to help open up a discussion about moods. It’s helpful because then we can learn not to be too upset, when someone else is grumpy, or sad… we can find a way to stay ourselves and be supportive and friendly, without taking on the other person’s sadness or feeling to blame for their moods, etc. Sometimes little children have no idea that they are not to blame for grown ups anger or sadness, and they tend to believe they are the cause of it, which can have very negative effects on childhood development and continue to affect their adult lives. Often when I ask someone how they are feeling, they don’t know. Sometimes this happens with little children…they just don’t know. This is a little chart to help identify the mood we’re in, and there is a space at the bottom right to draw our own mood, in our own colours…as a reminder that we have the power to choose our own mood, regardless of the circumstances we may be in…. phew… i hope you like it :) I really wish I’d had a chart or a little book like this when my children were between ages 3-7, maybe one day, I’ll turn this into a little book… Hope it brightens your day and lifts your spirits…
