Do I really need to say this? We can profit from our art on Redbubble. I get the feeling people are not understanding this concept. Redbubble is merely and only our personal art gallery. It’s not a static destination where you stop and stare, but a dynamic gallery of photographs forever showing art that best represents what we’d like the general public to purchase. From Cards through to Framed wall-hangings, our work is available to purchase online. Redbubble provides a slick website that is so easy for choosing frames/laminates/cards/t_shirts/etc, purchasing the product and easy-delivery system. They make it amazingly easy to be a small-business owner. Or at least make a small to moderate amount of play-money on the side. I encourage all Artists to use Redbubble to get started, but don’t let it stop you in your tracks. It staggers me how many people are sitting behind their computers with tapping fingers saying, “OK, Now they can see me, they will come here any moment now to purchase my art!” “No they won’t!! You have to find the customers yourself. Redbubble enables you to purchase your own work … and then on-sell it. / My Redbubble Business In August 2007 I purchased thirty cards via Redbubble. I gave five as gifts to very close friends, simply blank cards without messages, but with a simple note … do what you like with this. / Some people kept them, others used them within minutes to send off as Birthday cards. Most asked where I got them from and can they have more? The remaining cards sold within 24hours of arrival from Redbubble! Then I emailed those people, other friends and family, showing them my RB gallery. I have repeat customers because of this initial free promotion. We order $150 worth of cards and other stuff each fortnight, either in pre-orders or for stock. I have a box of about 120 card-ographs in stock at anytime. My lovely wife keeps a very intricate and statistical ledger of all cards in stock, those sold and those on order. Clients choose from the gallery (telling me which ones they like via email, with the name of the artwork, the style they’d like it presented _card, laminate, etc and how many of each_), we order and receive, then we take it to the customer. About a two-week turn-around time. I’ve also purchased a dozen 12”x8” of the ‘prettier’ of our photographs on each of our galleries, which are easily viewed in an A3-portfolio. These are used to determine the appropriate frame and matte colour when clients choose them. Now that Christmas is gone, I can reveal that White Gums II was picked off my gallery by a work-friend’s mother here in Adelaide, I had it framed locally, and it now sits pride of place in their lounge room! I’m very proud of that!! From the corporate world through to the suburban billiards room, everyone wants a suitable image to hang on the wall. Because I have clients who prefer not to purchase online, I’ve made it my responsibility to acquire the final product and deliver it to their offices and homes. And this system works beautifully. (More about this in the next four weeks…) To parody and plagerise a famous quote: “Give someone a fish and they eat for a day, give them a camera with with a zoom lens, and they can shoot the most beautiful carp every day of the week!“

ALL profit will go to the flipzfoundation which will officially be launched on Dec 6th to support rural women with Cancer & the ultimate goal of the foundation is to support all adults who live in rural areas with Cancer & or Mental Illness with the basic necesseities such as, hooking up with local registered volunteers, recieving vouchers of all kinds especially food & cooked meals or someone to teach husbands to cook! Link people up with all available services financial advisors physio’s Garden services, Dieticians etc all in one basket delivered to their door by volunteer or nurse. These baskets would take so much pressure off families who’s lives are about to be turned upside down & inside out. l believe country towns can take care of themselves for the most part they just need to be linked up properly & respected in limitations or capabilities to give & the government need to come to the party & support those who want to support each other. / This Calander will go up for Auction at my Art Show on Dec 6th & l promise to let you know how well it goes. Over the past 3 weeks l am proud to say no one has knocked this Bold lady back & l have raised in way of raffles donations sponsorship & the Sales of my work almost $12,000 & l couldn’t do it without the beautiful warm & caring hearts just like those who have donated their masterpieces to this Calander. l just WISH l could hug everyone of you who have helped me along the way XXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOO / Oh l almost forgot l even had MP Mr Ben Hardmen visit me last week & he listened to everything l had to say & will approach the Minister for Grants to see how the Government can help the flipzfoundation ! A bit of a rework of an image that was originally created as part of a quadtych series – “Vanishing Point (#’s1-4)” – entered into the Nikon Summer Salon back in 2004 – (now called the Kodak Salon). Was beside myself – read; totally friggin stoked! when the series was awarded – “Best Digital Photomedia Work” The Kodak Salon is now Australia’s largest open entry photomedia exhibition held at The Centre for Contemporary Photography, Fitzroy, Melbourne.

The X’s: also vortex symbol, “As is above, so is below”, spirit/matter, heaven/earth realms, parallels, thoughts, manifestation, mesh, grid, lattice, interconnections, signifying realms of planes – a particular level of existence, mental activity, achievement. Channels, layers, stitching, butterfly wing, leaf – passage, transit, conduit, levels, parallels, planes, carriers. Vessels – embodiment of your ‘being’, container, inner alchemy processes, all is one; open, receive, filter, give and take, shelter, nurture, protect, shadow self, dualities. Colours/fabric, rice paper collage – Primal, energy/chakra levels, alchemies, signifying realms of existence, of various planes – worldly, spiritual.

I was visiting the studio of a bunch of cutting edge artists one time and out of the corner of my eye I spied this little teddy hiding behind the curtains of one of the lofts we where in…. it’s kind of poignant and refreshing to realize that no matter how ‘grown up’ we get or how important or meaninful our artworks become… in our heart of hearts we all some how retain just a little bit of the child…. and hang on to some of the crucial markers of that….like this little teddy bear…. kind of hiding but still important enough to be part of the life of this particular artist….. so cute and so very human
