As a follower of Jesus Christ I look forward to the day when I will leave this earth and join my Lord in His Kingdom. When my burden seems more than I can bear it encourages me to know that my assignment here is only temporary. It’s to that day when I will join my Lord that I press towards. It seems that life is passing me by at the speed of light these days. Monday blurs into Friday and problems come and go. As I grow older I realize that the only constant thing that I have as I pass through time is the council and wisdom that I receive while reading my Bible and talking with God. His Word gives me peace, makes me strong and gives me eternal perspective. When I listen to God rather than the voices of men things also become much clearer. I give up my desire to run in a worldly race that cannot be won, in order to receive and cherish a gift that no one can ever take away from me- the free gift of eternal life. Lord Jesus, thank you for the joy and promise of eternal life that you have put before me. Thank you for knowing me, for understanding me, and for still loving me. How I long to be with you in paradise. Until that day comes Lord, please have your way with me and lead me patiently through this life as your child. He is mighty on our behalf. God never sleeps as He watches over us, and no trouble that comes our way can catch Him off guard. Once we accept Christ as our Savior, God is with us, ready to love and help us in our time of need. We have His promise on that! As an artist, I feel this is my best work. It is a self-portrait that leads off into the future, painted years ago in what I would now call my dark period. My life has changed a lot since then, and I have overcome many of the dark fears and subconscious memories, many of which are still hidden from my waking life. There is a lot of symbolism here. And, enough so that for once I will just shut my mouth and let you read it as you see it. I still enjoy seeing its design, attention to detail, and even if dark, it’s clear light. I don’t even want to guess how long I’ve spent on this piece. I’ve always loved doing black line drawing.. This one is hand drawn (with square rulers etc) from the centre to 4 layers out. I then scanned it and did the rest in photoshop (first time I’ve done this kind of work on photoshop and I loved it). I find this kind of highly detailed work very relaxing and almost meditative for me. I enjoy it very much. .
