I have also used a variety of found objects, including lace and ribbons…and an especially beautiful gold paint for the wings which were underpainted first to created texture. On of my favourite paintings, my heart and soul went into this piece…two sweet little girls in darling dresses hanging out in the garden together….what could be nicer.

She wears a traditional chinese costume with her feet slightly turned in. Flowers in her crazy ‘updo’ hair secured with a couple of chopsticks! Chinese Red Fan Girl stands before a warm glowing screen, patiently waiting for her little friend from Japan, ‘Little Blue Kimono’ to arrive. Chinese Red Fan Girl wears a pair of geta on her tootsies, a gift from ‘Little Blue’ The kanji symbols in the background on the screen translate into ‘One’s Dearest Wish’

‘Iliki’ Spirit of Aloha is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper using ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. My darling ‘Illiki’ was inspired by James Michener’s novel ‘Hawaii’ and the beautiful young hawaiian girl who is one of the charming characters early on in the story. I was completely swept away during the reading of this incredible novel, highly recommended reading :D

/>Framed Print / / Mounted Print Pilgrimage / mixed media production on paper, ink, pastel, charcoal and acrylic Pilgrimage is about our passage through life, the boat represents the vehicle by which she travels, the wise animal represents the voice of wisdom, the bare tree represents a brand new slate on which to write each day, the crown speaks of how special each individual is. Pearls represent the tears of the moon and remind us that life may not be easy and we all struggle. The lotus represents strength through love. The daisies are for simplicity. The bindi is for spiritual insight. The red sky at night is a sailor’s delight…for a red sky at night indicates smooth seas on the morrow! As a fisherman’s daughter, I have witnessed the strange phenomena of a red sky numerous times….always turns out to be calm on the water next day – a great indicator.. red skies are a great indicator of smooth sailing ahead

‘Inspirational Series’ card by Karin Taylor Nancy, Patsy, Ellen and Red Dog is a mixed media production. I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal on canvas textured paper. The original painting was just auctioned for charity recently. This work was also inspired by the _‘Legend of Red Dog aka The Pilbara Wanderer’, as is ‘Where is Red Dog’. Red Dog was an adventurous dog who seemed to belong to an entire community. / When his soulmate John died, Red Dog searched for him for the rest of his days, that’s loyalty for you! This painting depicts the time Red Dog’s search for John took him all the way from the dusty outback to Cottesloe Beach, with the girls from his hometown hot on his tail…... If you look closely you can see the tips of Red Dog’s ears way out past the breakers!

‘Inspirational Series’ card by Karin Taylor Where is Red Dog is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper using ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal. The original painting was inspired by the legend of ‘Red Dog’, aka ‘The Pilbara Wanderer’ of Western Australia. Red Dog was a loyal friend and stout companion to all who knew him. In this painting, the girl on the skateboard represents us in our search for love and acceptance and ‘Red Dog’ symbolises that quintessential spirit of the friend, whose love and acceptance we all yearn for.

The original painting sold some time ago at a local art prize called the Southern Cross Art & Craft Exhibition in Ballina. It is one of my favourite pieces.
