  There is a brand new initiative coming from the great creative brain of Red Bubble’s Jo O’Brien who has begun a chain of interviews, dedicated to spreading the love and creativity. The fire was first fanned into flame by one of our most dearest bubbly people and friend, the wondrously musically and arty farty Muscular Teeth Now, Mr Teethy and I had a little conflict of interest at first over who would ask Frozenfa to do her interview…..since we’re both big fans of hers…..but I won out of course….being superquick with the bmail clickety click…and got to her first….phew…!!! Not that it matters, coz I think that lots of you are going to get the opportunity to share your hearts and arts with us…..and we are looking forward to hearing from you each and everyone, getting to know more about you, what makes you tickety tock and what makes you rock!!!! Let’s Focus On….....FROZENFA interview with Karin / (Fa, tell us puleeze, what makes you tickety tock and what makes you rock?) / / aw, look…it’s baby fa….isn’t she adorable!! How does being a creative person and pursuing your creativity affect other aspects of your life? After i finally left the corporate world, i decide to venture into doing my tees and designs full time a.k.a. going jobless. Almost everyone says i’m being crazy and that i’ll end up being a free loader and won’t make it anywhere. i get people telling me left right center, about how tough it’s going to be.. or how shitty the world is out there and basically just assuming that i’d turn into a starving artist. my family too didn’t believe in me. but i did get a moral support from 1 friend then, Serena. and with just that 1 person believing in me, i just went ahead to live my life, my way. I no longer meet up with my friends unless they ask me out, which is always for a reason or another or they just feel obliged to. some thought am becoming a hermit. i’d say i’ve gotten to know so many more interesting people around the world in this 6mths.. From awesome photographers to cool writers to amazing painters.. i got introduced to PixelTerminator by Buddy Sears ... i get to do a collaboration design with Karin.. i got to meet Cvail73 when she’s here on holiday.. and just met a new bubbler, udonchow just now, who’s back to renew her visa.. and i think i’ll be meeting Krisso during his stopover to sg on his way to london.. hehe.. XD Since i’m “jobless”, i have more time to spend at home. i get to do the sweeping and moping the floor and making sure to dry the laundry and be ready to help my mum when she comes home. i am happy cos i get to spend more time with my family and be more helpful and useful to them. I am soo much more happier now. all the depression and being forced to do work i’m not interested in and having to deal with annoying people is over.. i can do my own work at my own pace.. i can draw what i want to draw, express what i want to express. and no, i am not a free loader! i live off my savings. no i am not from a rich family, everyone in my family just knows how to spend only when necessary, we don’t have air conditioner nor sofas at home! and no i am not rich, else i would have a physical shop by now. no i am not starving artist, i am still fat! errr.. dang.. ok fine, i need to exercise more.. (Tim: ROFL!!!) grrr… But you can call me struggling artist, yesh, i can accept that! =) am still struggling to find my own printers and working towards opening my own mini booth at a local market.. Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful Back during my early days at work, i was made to believe that i wasn’t creative enough and that all my designs are below standards. Back then, i believe that i’m not creative and am a lousy designer. with RSI and depression, honestly i thought i’d forever live in the shadow of other people.. But everything changes when i join RB!! i’d say the one person that i’m truly madly deeply hehehe thankful to i’ve met is Karin! Yesh, the big shining star in RB, Karin Taylor !! if you don’t know her, then you must be either new to RB or been really inactive here.. hehehe.. XD How special is she? as if you don’t know!! Oo” / Well you can check out our mushy tribute to each other here at her journal here... ehehe.. Basically, she’s been most encouraging and supportive of me and my crazy designs.. Heck, can you believe it, she’d even listen to me whining about silly non design related problems through bmail? i always feel so bad taking up her time sometimes with my whinings, but she’s always so encouraging and listening.. i am very thankful for that. Karin also turns out to be my VERY FIRST buyer (she kept it a secret until i started making other sales slowly but surely). hehe.. i received a birthday present all the way from overseas for the first time ever in my life from her too! and a bday card.. haven’t got a bday card in awhile.. Bday truly would have suck this year if it weren’t for her.. and this is what really moved me most. i will admit, that really made me cry!! A fabulous interview giving a ‘behind the scenes’ look at Fa’s life, her values, and i think it gives a little insight into just how special a person she is, someone who has a heart full of courage, depth of feeling, and I think she is what they call an old soul with a heart that’s so big and swelling with love….send some love her way peoples, and visit her bubble today…you won’t be disappointed i promise :D You may wanna buy some of her art, coz i think she’s gonna be real famous soon!!!! Two Latest Designs sold (with many thanx) to beautiful fellow bubblebees Firstly, last night some time Liesl Yvette Wilson an aussie artist living in London who does gorgeous children’s illustrations (please pay her a visit !!) purchased my latest Kokeshi Doll Autumn TShirt: ...and NEXTLY, SalsBells69 a fellow bubblebee and wonderful photographer from Australia, purchased my other latest tee design Fantasy Island Retro TShirt: I have been really down lately, and these two sales have boosted my spirits enormously, a very big thank you to my two special buyers Leisl and Sal :) thanx guys! _________ NEX BIT OF NEWS * ( / i see you’re still here, thanx so much for hangin’ round for next bit) / ________ Hi fellow bubblebees, I joined red bubble community on or around about the 7th February 2008 (near on 10 weeks ago) i think :) i never know what today’s date is even tho it’s apparently right here on my computer screen…i am really a computer illiterate in many many ways (sh don’t tell anyone that lol) – my friend frozenfa knows this only too well :) Just me with a special update…for a while now I’ve ummed and ahhhed as to whether to share or not about sales and figures…when i first started bubbling i was so excited i couldn’t help but share good news…but as time’s gone by, I’ve noticed the ups and downs emotionally that we all go through over the good and bad times. I think all of us struggle terribly when no-one’s buying our work, and I’ve had an immense struggle with it myself. When no-one’s buying you think, okay, it’s all over bar the shout, i’m finished, i’m washed up, i wanna get out of this cruel game which is a roller coaster ride to say the least I’ve watched friends many times feel despairing, and I know that feeling so well. So sometimes sharing about sales and views can crush someone else’s spirit, or it can spur them on to become more and more determined to win the big prize :) I feel seeing someone else’s success does both these things to me. I’m not sure how the rest of you are going with your sales and progress, i’m told some even make close to a living from selling their work here…...I’m far from that goal ….. but we must continue to encourage one another all the more if some are feeling low and flailing, there are so many wonderful artists here, and i see they have no comments on their work, or just one and i wonder why is that? I have been so encouraged by this wonderful community and the warm sentiments fill my heart with joy and put a spring in my step, i can assure you all of that :) and I wanted to say thank you to everyone for being like, my extended family of brothers and sisters :) Anyway, I’ve been keeping quiet about sales and views for a while…..i wonder whether if you’re doing well..people will drop you off their watchlist….or if you’re doing not so well, people let you go anyway, i really don’t know…. But i try to be honest about who i am, so i’ve decided to lay it on the table today….and here are my stats :) Ten Weeks on Red Bubble art views 25,045 / clothing views 7,350 card sales 25 / tshirt sales 12 / _print sales _ 1 total sales* 38 translated $$$’s $163.48 ________ FINALE _ (if you’re still awake and stuck with me til this / point, i must applaud and congratulate and send you / big hugs and thanx :)_ ________ I’ve been very busy lately, as i was commissioned by some folks in United States to create some designs for a business proposal…don’t think i can say much more than that…but stay tuned as it could turn into something big….and that would be very cool :) thanks for listening to my guff everyone, love yas all :) big hugs from Karin xo

  Hello to all….. I have been doing some thinking – dead silence fills the auditorium, and everyone rolls their eyes….uh oh….lol!!! oh no, she’s been thinking again!!! Yes!! I have, and my idea is this…I am gonna put forth a weekly journal called Karin’s Weekly instead of all the little journals….in it i will put any sales and any news…rather like a blog….. It will save a bit of time for myself, and hopefully for you, as you won’t have loads of journals to check out popping up in your activities list from me, just the one every now and then, with as much juicy stuff as i can squish out!! :D —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— KARIN’S WEEKLY ISSUE ONE Sales Update Thnx so much to the following people for these purchases: 1.   I was lucky enough to be able to interview the incredibly talented Yanmos ( Yannis ) who has turned out some of the most amazing activism designs here on the Bubble , if you take a look at the Most Popular Clothing of all time tab , you’ll be sure to see many of his amazing designs ! Please check out this interview ,and if you haven’t already , take a look at this talented artist’s gallery , you won’t be disappointed . How does being a creative person and pursuing your creativity affect other aspects of your life? I think most other activities in my life affect my creativity really & not creativity affecting my real life. I used to be a restive spirit from my early youth, for almost 10 years now I’m involved in some activism organization like greenpeace & actionaid(god-parent) & I like to do things for the public benefit. These things usually affect my creativity & “burn” my mind. To tell the truth after finishing my design school in 1991 here in Greece & Copenhagen in Denmark, I started to work in the Greek ministry of culture as designer & most of my creativity going there, in milimeter blocs with a lot of ancient drawings until November of 2006. I always remember wearing nice t-shirts(my favorite garment) with very nice designs & a lot of cool slogans. I remember a white shirt that said : “Absent Without Life” this was my favorite(bought in 1989). So back in November of 2006 I started to work in illustration first & other similar programs later, knowing nothing of graphic design, I spent a long time collecting tutorials from the internet & working in front of my pc for hours & hours, I started to draw my first design and here i am now. Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful Well i can’t name only one person because i have a lot of friends here & it will be unfair for some of them, but i remember the day that I found redbubble and fell in love with it. I made a short tour of the site & started immediately uploading some of my work knowing nobody here. After 2 or 3 uploadings I realized that my “think green live green” design was featured on the clothing bracket(still not knowing what that was ) & starting to get a lot of beautiful & very encouraging comments. A big smile appeared on my face, it was the day that i started making friends here! Show & tell us about five works on redbubble that have moved or inspired you I ‘ll begin with a friend that I have had here for a long time. Her name is Kimberly Hoffard! / “Insomniac” / Hi Kimb :) The great Lyudmila! / “Snake woman” / No words for this man, Ronald Wigman! / “Burn Out” / Arteology is one of the greatest artists for me! / “Tree Be Me” And finally rubyred, last but not least! / “Winds Of Change” Love all his work !   I have finally got around to posting a journal entry here on RedBubble, you may already have seen my posts on my myspace page and also on the news page at my website. Been busy busy busy… I am really excited about RedBubble – it’s a fantastic opportunity for Australian artists etc, with great exposure and support. One thing I would dearly love feedback on is how people are promoting themselves in order to sell their work – as a poor struggling artist (one of many!) I could really use the sideline income. I have a few design projects underway at the moment, which has kept me away from my illustration work – but there I’m starting some new pieces soon – so keep an eye out. I’ve just completed a revised version of the OhOhChaos gig poster I did for a guy in Belgium – which I will post for sale, I love the typography…There will also be a small copy of my submission to Daydream magazine in the UK – with the theme Left or Right – I found a little pearler of a quote which I was inspired by. I’m hoping also to post some images of a CD design I am working on for a one-man-band in Scotland – it won’t be for sale obviously, but you’ll be able to buy the CD I’m sure. I’m hoping to get really underway with my illustration – so I can hear from everyone about their thoughts and reactions! I’ll be putting together a little promo with them to send around the studios and magazines in an attempt to bring in some work. / Has been tough lately, which I’m sure many people can relate to, no food, no rent, blah blah blah – but its slowly starting to come together now. Fingers crossed! I’d love to hear what everyone thinks of my work – I’ll be searching around checking out what I’ve missed since my last sojurn in the bubble.   I’m very proud and happy that I’ve managed to convince my friend Elli / to join RedBubble. She hasn’t uploaded anything yet so this is actually a tad premature and not putting her under any pressure at all, ;-) , but make sure you check out her work once you can. She’s a brilliant photographer AND artist AND the things she can do with Photoshop are just amazing. I think she’s going to be a great asset to the whole RedBubble community. She’s also very active online, in fact thats how we met; online. Almost our entire friendship has been conducted online and we have only ever met in the flesh on two occasions. This isn’t that unusual these days except that when we did meet it was ten-thousand or more kms away from where we were when we first met online. I ‘met’ Elli while I was living in Amsterdam and had a blog with comments that worked AND visitors. Elli is a Texan, living in Switzerland at the time. We used to email and blog and even considered meeting up in Germany one day to see a Bridget Jones movie. (You almost have to go to Germany to make a Bridget Jones movie bearable….) But then I had my son and my days of gadding off to ‘other countries’ just to see a two-hour film were over. I just couldn’t find flights to fit between feeds! It was sad when we left the Netherlands and returned to Australia to think that we probably never would meet after all. So I was more than a little surprised to recieve an SMS only a week or so after arriving back in Australia to the effect that Elli had just landed in Melbourne and did I want to meet up? As my husband put it, it’s either an amazing coincidence OR she’s one seriously scarey cyber-stalker. Anyway, Elli and her JM have now been traipsing around Australia for quite a while doing this-and-that-in-remote-places as required by our Immigration Department so we’ve decided she’s not a cyber-stalker and our friendship is still conducted mostly online. Which is why I’m really happy to see her here on RedBubble. I’m still in the RedBubble honeymoon phase (does it ever end?) and wanting to share the ‘lerv’. It’s like adding a new room to your house and wanting all your friends to come and stay in it! RedBubble’s going to suit Elli down to a T and we can spend hours and hours gas-bagging away (is RedBubble chat in the works down-the-track…............?) and maybe even doing some work together and I can even think of a couple of groups in particular for whom she’d be a fabulous member. Yippee! PS. Here is Elli’s FLICKR photostream to keep you amused while we’re waiting.
