We all have artists on our watchlist that we think are wonderful, but who may not get the recognition they deserve or their work just gets passed by in the influx of daily work here on Redbubble. I would like to form a journal entry here that serves the purpose of bringing awareness and traffic to these underappreciated artists, so my proposal is that anyone who wished to come into this journal and post 1 or 2 links to artists on their watchlists whom they absolutely adore. This idea was originally begun by JULIE LANGFORD so please be sure to visit her journal HERE too for more amazing work! Also feel free to link to their images as well, and try not to repeat the same artists as have already been mentioned and promoted. This way we can get the word out about so many of these tremendous hidden talents here at Redbubble. I have two artists I would now like to introduce to you that I have on my watchlist: David Linkenauger and Shelley Spillenaar David is one of my fellow home state photographers and takes really nice waterscape images, and Shelley in my mmind has a wonderful eye and a keen sense of capturing the right moment with animals. Please go take a look at the wonderful work of these two artists, and if you like what you see be sure to tell them so and maybe even add them to your watchlist! Also, be sure to scan your own watchlist for someone who you think deserves more attention than they are currently getting in the world of Redbubble! Let’s make this a huge success!

One of my piece of art. This is a snow carving that I made myself in February 2006. It was at the Yukon Sourdough Rendez-vous. She was about 7 feet high to give you an idea. / / It took me 26 hours of consecutive work (no sleep) with a few breaks along the way to warm my toes up… (it was pretty near -40 degrees Celscius below that night. But I was dressed pretty well.) I called her Into The Light because I finished sculpting her when the sun came and shined on her from above the building that was standing in front of her. It was 12(noon) at the time.. I had started to carve her the day before at 10 am. She has her hands open to the sky, for she is as ready to give herself, as ready to receive from the creator.

I took this shot in the ruins of Fort Amherst. The old fort that was once defended the city of St. John’s from German U-boats entering the harbor now boasts only 2 abandoned guns, crumbling walls & stairs encased in years of salt blowing in off the sea and this mysteriious lady. Was she a war heroes girl or just a portrait of a moderrn day graffiti artists sweetheart? / / A History of the Fort / / Fort Amherst is located at the entrance of St. John’s Harbor opposite Signal Hill across the Narrows’. The Fort was built in the 1770’s to defend the entrance of the Narrows’. Gun placements were used at The Fort during WWII to protect the harbor from German U-boats. In 1813 a lighthouse was built at Fort Amherst and was to be the first permanent lighthouse established in Newfoundland. It operated until 1835 but was then replaced by a new structure in 1852, which was demolished in the early 1950’s to make way for the new lighthouse which is seen today. / / More shots of the Fort and its Defenses / / / / / / / / / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography
