‘Asia Series’ card by Karin Taylor A more serious piece this time. A painting inspired by the art form of the Geisha. Her discipline and strength I admire. I have used ink, acrylic, charcoal and pastels to create Geisha Girl. The original painting is no longer available, but so glad she can come to you in the form of a greeting card. Baby Bull Production is something I created not that long ago. It’s a mixed media piece on canvas textured paper…...i did it in response to the chilled out cows at Mullumbimby, northern New South Wales, who seem to be very laid back, i suspect they are indulging in the ‘other’ kind of grass also….... they have this real chilled look about them, and I’ve never seen cows anywhere else that have this way about them. I put it in the Casino Art Exhibition and it was the only painting that sold, every year a male school teacher goes to that show, or so the legend goes…....and purchases a piece…...it was my lucky year. Tonight I was asked if I’d ever sold a painting in a gallery…well, yes, and at exhibitions and privately. To date I believe I have sold between 30 and 40 original paintings, which I am very proud of…..in the early days 2002 I was very prolific, things have slowed down a bit with my painting now, because i am much more deliberate and take a lot of time to imbue my paintings with layers and love and depth…..it is just how i have grown as an artist, it is nice to report that there is growth along the journey…(and sales lol)!!! Somebody also has a print of these cows and loves them very much from what I understand lol

A self-portrait with another self-portrait and my last painting as a background. Nude pastel drawing on watercolor paper, private collection Europe / YouMe, 135×105 cm, oil on canvas, private collection Australia I reluctantly did this self-portrait, it was one of the compulsory themes for my final exam in Portraiture Photography. My teacher told us to come with something interesting, and gave us examples from last years, when the students came up with amazing ideas. I thought for a long time what to do but I didn’t have any good idea, so I postponed this till the last moment. In the end I took my last drawing for Life Drawing with Chris Orchard and my last painting which was done for a solo exhibition in SALA festival and did this. It took me a long time and numerous trials, because the problem was the focusing without having control of the camera. I used the natural light which was coming from the balcony from my right side. The image wasn’t “photoshoped”. / Finally when I got up there in front to talk about my work, I was surprised to see that everyone liked it. It was the least prepared of all my works. They selected it to put it on the school website, and not long after, The Advertiser news paper, called me to publish it. My agent printed it on a large canvas which was sold during SALA festival.
