  • Have a Heart For Henry

Have A Heart, for Henry 7 30 2008 Remember the Tin Man? Sure you do. He’s part of one of the best read, most watched stories ever. Ma…

This is a re-post, due to some seriously off topic comments. Now, if they had been written to the editorial staff of the newspaper this article was written for, they would have been on topic, but they did not address anything to do with why this article was posted on Red Bubble. So, let me be clear on this: This is an article written for a small town newspaper that is mostly only read by a small, tight-knit community. I wrote it, at the behest of my Editor, in a style that would suit such an atmosphere and which would acknowledge and encourage the family and volunteers, while more fully informing people who saw the fliers around town and already knew something was up. Since it was written for them, and not for you, I really don’t care how you would respond to the style of writing. Nor do I think it is appropriate for you to tell me that it should be rewritten in a style that would not suit the persons it was written for, but which would suit you. I posted it here, because it is a full, if short, article that was based on a couple of fliers and written by me, a person who does not know the community and who does not know the situation, and who does not enjoy this sort of writing .. and it was done very well and was very well received by the community. Therefore, it is proof of not only an ability to write, in the first place, but of diversity within that skill. If you must criticize, good or bad, then please do so on the merits of the writing itself and not on whether you personally approve of the message, which, let me remind you again, was written for the people of Mammoth, Oracle, and San Manuel, Arizona and not for you. Unless, of course, you are from there! Then go for your life!

  • From this to this (sigh)
    by Arletta

It was a dark and stormy night, with electricity crackling in the air in ways that made little boys and girls hair stand up and dance in …

The sigh, in the title, is because I love my job – really I do – but, I am morally opposed to many celebrations that the community must carry on with, so it is a bit of a conflict, wanting to do good work but not wanting to encourage activites to which I am morally opposed. And, here are some web-found illustrations I am throwing in, just so I can submit this to my favorite group. No offense to the other groups, which are also fabu! / Including an abstract found here

  • Gay Marriage – The Simpson’s Way (Same-Sex Marriage Part I)

This piece of creative prose was written in March of 2005 for the, now defunct, web journal “Pretty Witty”, where I used to write a monthly column entitled “Save a Cow, Kill a Chicken”. It is Part I of a two part series I did exploring the debate over gay marriage. (You can find Part II here.) I am not sure if the links in this piece are even still accessible, but the message of the piece is what I wanted to convey here. While it is dated, some of the information here is still relevant. And, it is hella’ funny (IMPO). So, enjoy and let me know what you think! Remember, this is merely an opinion piece and nothing more. I have also included supporting references. / CREATION INFORMATION Medium: Writing – Creative Prose, Editorial/Opinion, Activism Tools: Microsoft Word, My Brain/Imagination, Cited References Topic: Same-Sex Marriage / ALSO AVAILABLE Gay Marriage (Same-Sex Marriage Part II) Election ‘08 and the Gay Rights Movement

I am not sure if the links in this piece are even still accessible, but the message of the piece is what I wanted to convey here. While it is dated, some of the information here is still relevant. And, it is, in a way, humorous and enlightening (IMPO). So, enjoy and let me know what you think! Remember, this is merely an opinion piece and nothing more. • Election '08 and the Gay Rights Movement
    by bchrisdesigns

*So, where do the candidates stand on all the gay rights issues in the coming election? Here is a little re-cap to make your voting a li…

This piece was written in response to a question that was asked by blackjack in the comments section of my piece entitled Gay Marriage, Same-Sex Marriage Part II. The question asked was: “I was trying to find any clarifying statement from any of the candidates, and haven’t yet. Didn’t know if any of them have clearly stated (or through their past voting track record) that they are going to pro actively fight for gay rights legislation. I wish I could listen to all the debates, but they just got so repetitive… Anyways, it is one of the deciding factors in my vote, and I thought, per chance, you might have the answers I was looking for?“ It inspired me to write this piece in the hopes that more people will be able to make a more educated vote when concerning the issues of gay rights. Please note that this is only one of the issues facing the candidates and does not represent them as a whole. All the information presented here was found via online news sources and speeches/video clips of the candidates themselves as of the date this article was posted. If I have missed anything or if you have a correction, please Bubble Mail me and I will do further research. All references are included belows the pieces. And, as always, feedback is sought and appreciated! Cheers! / CREATION INFORMATION Medium: Writing – Creative Prose, Editorial/Opinion, Activism Tools: Microsoft Word, My Brain/Imagination, Cited References Topic: Gay Rights, Same-Sex Marriage / ALSO AVAILABLE Gay Marriage – The Simpson’s Way (Same-Sex Marriage Part I) Gay Marriage (Same-Sex Marriage Part II)
