We had the honor of going to the White Wolf Sanctuary last weekend. Located by the Oregon Coast (near Walport) it truly was a memorable experience. One of those big “wow” moments. / All proceeds of the wolf pictures will go to the White Wolf Sanctuary. 100% of the sale price will go to the sanctuary plus I will donate an equal amount (200 % to the wolves). / If you live in the Oregon/Washington area it is such a short drive for an awesome experience. • POLAR MOON
    by Skye Ryan-Evans

    US$3.79–US$101.08

A solitary Polar Bear contemplates portents in the Arctic sky. Will Summer bring a bountiful supply of food or will global warming melt too much of the Polar ice and bring starvation or drowning for his kind? We can make a difference by reducing the use of electricity and fossil fuels like gasoline. We bought an e-scooter last year, runs on battery and doesn’t polute. It’s fantastic! What will your contribution to the environment be for this year? 25% of profits from each poster sold will go directly to Defenders of Wildlife in their efforts to save the Polar Bears of the frozen (but rapidly melting) North Pole. Thanks for caring.

  • A Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) flies over the Johnson River at sunrise in the Alaska Range ~ Freedom’s Northern Wind “I. Franconia from the Pemigewasset ~ Once more, O Mountains of the North, / unveil Your brows, and lay your cloudy mantles by / And once more, ere the eyes that seek ye fail, / Uplift against the blue walls of the sky Your mighty shapes, and let the sunshine weave Its golden net-work in your belting woods, / Smile down in rainbows from your falling floods, And on your kingly brows at morn and eve Set crowns of fire! / So shall my soul receive Haply the secret of your calm and strength, / Your unforgotten beauty interfuse My common life, your glorious shapes and hues / And sun-dropped splendors at my bidding come, / Loom vast through dreams, and stretch in billowy length / From the sea-level of my lowland home! / They rise before me! / Last night’s thunder-gust / Roared not in vain: for where its lightnings thrust Their tongues of fire, the great peaks seem so near, / Burned clean of mist, so starkly bold and clear, / I almost pause the wind in the pines to hear, The loose rock’s fall, the steps of browsing deer. / The clouds that shattered on yon slide-worn walls / And splintered on the rocks their spears of rain / Have set in play a thousand waterfalls, / Making the dusk and silence of the woods / Glad with the laughter of the chasing floods, And luminous with blown spray and silver gleams, / While, in the vales below, / the dry-lipped streams Sing to the freshened meadow-lands again. / So, let me hope, / the battle-storm that beats The land with hail and fire may pass away / With its spent thunders at the break of day, / Like last night’s clouds, / and leave, as it retreats, A greener earth and fairer sky behind, / Blown crystal-clear by Freedom’s Northern wind!” Poetry by John Greenleaf Whittier 1862

  • These lovely wolves are protected in a preserve called the Lakota Wolf Wildlife Preserve, in Columbia NJ. They are beautiful creatures, and the perserve gives them a home If you live close to NJ or Penn. it’s worth a visit. They have regular tours and Photo tours, I took these shots on the regular tour, although the other tour is probably better for a if you want to have a one on one experience with wolves. Artic wolves are white so they blend in on the snow, their hair is hollow allowing them to act as an insulator in the winter, or a buffer from the heat in the summer. Part of the proceeds from the profits of the sales of these prints will be donated to the organization.

  • Kayaking in the Land of the Midnight Sun! This beautiful piece shows two Inuit hunters gliding through Summer ice-strewn waters. The pale yellow of the Arctic Sun slices through the kayak as light and shadow collide. The first in a new series of Arctic Circle Artworks, “Inuit Summer” is a stunning introduction to new works on the drawing-board. 25% from sales will benefit Defenders of Wildlife at www.defenders.org. / Thank you for helping Skye to help them.

  • Despite what we think, a polar bear’s fur is not white. Each hair is clear hollow tube. Polar bears look white because each hollow hair reflects the light. On sunny days, it traps the sun’s infrared heat and keeps the bear warm at 98 degrees F

  • Fram
    by Nicholas Averre

    US$3.56–US$95.00

Fram (“Forward”) is a ship that was used in expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctic regions by the Norwegian explorers Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup, Oscar Wisting, and Roald Amundsen between 1893 and 1912. Fram was probably the strongest wooden ship ever built. It was designed by the Norwegian shipwright Colin Archer for Fridtjof Nansen’s 1893 Arctic expedition in which Fram was supposed to freeze into the Arctic ice sheet and float with it over the North Pole. Fram is said to be the wooden ship to have sailed farthest north and farthest south. Fram is currently preserved in whole at the Fram Museum in Oslo, Norway.
