Dragon art. The old saying is true. Never judge a book by it’s cover. How many times during the course of life have you prejudged someone by their appearance without getting to know what makes them tick? Is it because they aren’t pleasing to your eyes or that they are different that they aren’t worth your time? / Here our friendly dragon is cooling off from the heat of the evening. This door detail was photographed in Avanos, a small town in the Cappadocia region of central Turkey. The bright colors and old wood of houses and doors in these small towns are often beautiful and always intriguing. The splintered wood, tooled brass lock and handle, and encroaching shadow give this piece a sense of mystery for me.

Oil painting on canvas / I love painting elephants, but on this one I thought I would make the b/g more dramatic, wich adds to the might of these giant animals

I happened upon this butterfly in the woods one day and knew it was different from the common ones I normally see. Audubon’s Field Guide to Insects and Spiders revealed it was a Question Mark Butterfly, so named because of a marking that looks similar to that punctuation mark on the backside of its wings. I removed the original background using PS and added this orange shimmer to accentuate the lovely color of this unusual butterfly.
