  • Diana Goddess of the Hunt
    by CherrieB

    US$3.99–US$28.50

Diana is the goddess of the hunt, shes a warrior and a mother in some storys, To many she is a virgin goddess, Diana is her Roman name whilst to others she is better known as Artemis the twin sister of Appollo. To her woodlands are sacred and groves like those uses by the druids are hallowed places. Her main tempel of worship was at Ephesus where those of lower class held her in reverance as any slave would be granted asylum with in her temple. whilst mothers to be would pray to her for easy child birth, and this was celebrated at her festival on the 13th August / To day she is still worshiped by many including those who follow Dianic Wicca whilst to the freemasions, she is the symbol of imagination, sensability and the creative insanity of peots and artist. To me Diana has special meaning as i was given my first bow when i was eight after watching Robin of Sherwood on TV something that has lead on to so much i could not of realised at the time. Through the 90s i first lernt how to swing a sword and went on to teach others in both this and the use of a bow. i still remember spliting my first arrow at a show at Ivanhoe’s castle. / and then continueing this into TV programs and even a whelsh langwage film. about the princes of wales. / Then when my illness looked as thoe it would stop be being able to shoot a kind friend in Hungary made me the bow in this image and another gave me a pendent of Diana, which i never take of his designs are now every ware but i have the first one he ever made. And i still live in the vale of Sherwood just a few miles from the grove i still visit and use today.
