Please visit Wikipedia’s definition of Psychedelic Arts to understand/learn more / http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychedelic_art definition of psychedelic arts: (from Wikipedia) / Psychedelic art is art inspired by the psychedelic experience induced by drugs such as LSD, Mescaline, and Psilocybin. The word “psychedelic” (coined by British psychologist Humphrey Osmond) means “mind manifesting”. By that definition all artistic efforts to depict the inner world of the psyche may be considered “psychedelic”. However, in common parlance “Psychedelic Art” refers above all to the art movement of the 1960s counterculture. Psychedelic visual arts were a counterpart to psychedelic rock music. Concert posters, album covers, lightshows, murals, comic books, underground newspapers and more reflected not only the kaleidoscopically swirling patterns of LSD hallucinations, but also revolutionary political, social and spiritual sentiments inspired by insights derived from these psychedelic states of consciousness. PSYCHEDELIC INSPIRATIONS / The Art of Jeff Hopp / “I believe that true art is foremostly a form of communication. For me to be interested in a piece, it must tell me something. An artist can communicate many things…. ideas, emotions, events, beliefs, etc. As for my art, I am interested in illustrating events and experiences that I have witnessed on my spiritual journeys. It is a method of capturing moments that cannot be documented in any other way. / They are places that can’t be photographed, and I feel that is important to share them with others.” LINKS & RESOURCES PSYCHEDELIC ARTIST : JEFF HOPP RESOURCES : Psychedelic Arts @Squidoo PHOTOBLOG/IMAGES : Psychedelic Wallpapers & Posters

‘There is an art to mathematics and a mathematics to art.’ / (Hany Farid, computer scientist at Dartmouth University in Hanover, N.H.) Unfortunately this article is now only available to subscrbers of this news site / Fortunately, Archive archived the article. According to a february 2007 article from sciencenews.org, titled Fractal or Fake? / Novel art-authentication method is challenged, a debate about fractals in art and Jackson Pollock prompted a defense by the father of fractals, Benoît Mandelbrot, a professor emeritus at Yale University : “I have extraordinary experience of these structures. Drawing on that experience, I do believe that Pollocks are fractal.”

HAS ULTRA FRACTAL BECOME THE WALMART OF FRACTAL ART ? I haven’t finished reading this but couldn’t help mentionning it on redbubble, as I’d be very interested to find some FRACTAL threads around here ! It’s called Has Ultra Fractal become the Walmart of fractal art? I wonder if some people who have no clue about how fractal art is made could find interest in such reading ? / But I love that amazing discussion ! / How do we – fractalists and other people see fractal art as a genre / style / technique ? Please tell us what you think.! Anyone…

  • A Resource for Artists Who Sell Their Work Online

I subscribe to a wonderful Newsletter called Empty Easel / that provides a wealth of information that I consider valuable to any artist. Some of the topics include painting tips, articles on famous artists, articles on art movements and art styles, articles on how to market your art, and much more. I replied to an article titled Are Personal Art Websites the Best Way to Promote Art Online? / and the website owner, Dan, replied to my email quite quickly. My reply to the article stated that I had good success on Google by submitting my name and URL, and if you typed my name in, it would show up on the front page. What follows are Dan’s comments and suggestions which I think are very good ideas for those of you out there to increase the traffic to your Portfolio, and to RedBubble as well. Increasing the traffic provides benefit to all of us in the long run. Hi Terry - Yes, PayPal works well for artists. The only problem is integrating it nicely. Some artists do that better than others. As far as finding yourself with searches, RedBubble seems to be doing well with Google results. What you might try to do is target some key words for your artwork in addition to your name. I know RedBubble has a journal/blog feature that gets picked up by Google, as does the description of your artwork, so make sure to write detailed descriptions of your artwork wherever possible. Also, you might title your artwork like this: Cosmic Dust: Blue and Gold Fractal Art Because Google takes titles seriously, and if you’d like to be found for terms such as “fractal art” or “digital art” you should put those in the titles, right after the ACTUAL title of your artwork. Or. . . for every artwork you upload, write a blog post about it. That would allow you to give more detail, and put more keywords into the title of the blog post. Just to show you how your blog is already TRYING to work for you, type this into Google: Create Upload Phew Those are the “keywords” you’ve put into your latest blog title, and you’ll see that Google will bring up your profile on RedBubble first because of it. Now imagine if you wrote a new blog post and titled it: Gold and Blue Fractal Art: Digital Artwork by Terry Krysak You might start getting searches for those keywords instead. (And see how you can include both “art” and “artwork” in case people search for one or the other…) These were just some random thoughts as I looked at your RedBubble profile, Terry. Perhaps they’ll help a little bit. All the best, / -Dan Another excellent article on EmptyEasel is 7 Tips For Selling Your Art Online I hope that you find this information useful, and encourage you to sign up for Dan’s newsletter and start enjoying the benefits right away.

  • After looking all day in my archives to find a way to reconstruct a work from scratch for a big size print, I stumbled uppon those ones which were meant to be used in more complex compositions a year ago, when it suddenly stroke me that on a bright background, these two fractals had a meaning of their own. And these ones are big enough for larger sizes, especially on posters (or special editions of 78” wide limited prints – contact me if interested)

I am always on the lookout for more fun toys (software) to play with. Recently I’ve been seeing work done with Apophysis and I knew I had to add it to my toy chest (grin). However I always have a problem. I am a linux gurl and even though I have an old windows xp computer (read slow and little memory) I rarely use it except for some old fractal generating programs I still like to play with. I wasn’t sure if I could get Apophysis to work on the old box but decided to try anyway. So I began downloading it on my linux computer. Now there is a program for linux called Crossover that allows us to run windows programs but not all of them work quite like they should. Crossover is improving considerably and I do use it to run Paint Shop Pro v7 for some of my work. If I had Photoshop I could also run that under Crossover but I didn’t even think that Apophysis would. So as I started downloading I was given the option of installing Apophysis under Crossover. Now just because it gives the option is no guarantee the program will run correctly but I thought why not give it a try so I did …. and guess what! IT WORKS!!! I was so pleased I just had to tell everyone that it did! now if there are any other linux users here at RB and who are itching to try Apophysis check out Crossover perhaps then you’ll catch the Apophysis bug as I have (big smile) this image is my first of a likely many (grin) ... hope you enjoy it as much as I had in designing it (big smile) owlspook

I never knew I would get into creating so much stuff and having so much fun at it! I’m constantly learning something, but so much yet to learn. I like to start with an image, such as an apophysis or a sphere or whatever, and duplicate the layer and run a polarization or fractal trace, duplicate again and flip, and repeat the process until I see something I can make some sense out of to use in an artwork. Thank you all for putting up with some of my goofy stuff, and appreciating the ones with some merit. They can’t all be gems, but I enjoy creating them all! I also enjoy a good laugh on occasion. I haven’t been commenting enough lately due to my daily routine and spending so much time creating, or trying to create digital artwork that is worthy of publishing. A few not so worthys slip through, but what they lack in quality art I hope they make up for in humor. (I keep wanting to put a “u” in humor, I wonder why? lol) / Just felt like yapping and sharing that!

This is the 1st in what turned out to be a series of 5. I didn’t know it would be a series when I did this one, but one thing leads to another. Then, the 4th one came to me when I saw snoopy in an apophysis, which turned the series around. I hope you like it, or are at least amused. / / A Gigantic planet-like object has been traveling from a nearby solar system / headed for the earths orbit around the sun. This giant is in constant / communication with a moonbase that has been monitoring and interacting / with earths affairs for over 2000 years. “They” have been largely responsible for / disinformation about ufo’s and alien encounters. “They” also control the media / and influence governments and religions worldwide. When the attack and / takeover occurs we won’t even see it coming! / They are now in orbit and mustering their warships for the final takeover! It won’t be long now……. / The first blow to anesthetize our defenses. It looks like there may be some collateral damage to the moon base, however. Maybe we’ll have a chance.? The invaders bring in the big guns! This is where it got crazy when I spotted what looked like Snoopy in an Apophysis, that turned my mind in another direction. / / Under cover of apophysis fractals, a patriotic beagle in a sopwith camel confronts the invading force. Maybe we do have a chance! Victory! / / I see a Sopwith Camel parked on the big gunship, and it’s shooting holes in it’s own mother planet! The saucers have exploded and are disintegrating! The patriotic beagle has commandeered the gunship and has saved our planet!

Hi all. I know I’m only a newbie here but have not had much of a chance lately to do anything much in the way of artwork or uploads. Worse still – no time to visit others and some amazing work. Hopefully I will get a chance to check out one or two new friends here in the coming days and maybe make a few new ones into the bargain. Frankly my creativity has been focused on other projects….a couple of websites!!! I introduce one of them – my personal Portfolio site which still is by no means 100% but I hope to sort out some of the bugs in the flash (some images disappear altogether when you click the thumbs… and you need to navigate away to a different image and come back to the original for it to display…). I also have the features section to write up as well as fix the contact area so that I can enable communication. I have not fdone so before now due to PHP hacking concerns…. The site URL: http://www.zooreka-art.com I hope to have all to my liking by next week…. Meanwhile thank y’all for stopping by and commenting on my work….. - Zoo
