FUSIONartPHOTOGRAPHY.com Feature artist for the GROUP:EXPERIMENTAL PHOTOGRAPHY and EDITING. This creation is about my return to Melbourne after eight exciting and event filled years living in Japan and China . Regular trips home to see family and friends had not really prepared me for that emotional roller coaster ride that many experience after the conclusion of an overseas assignment. / Initially, when living in countries where the language is foreign ,one delves deep inside oneself and adjusts by becoming more observant to compensate. The experience is beyond description. / Upon returning home ones’ city has become a mystery. Eye contact/ a smile meant so very much in the re-adjustment period as after such a long period away ,one really belongs nowhere and maybe the heart will always now remain in 3 places and so we have “Mysterious Melbourne” / “ A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” / Essence of Ancient Wisdom/ Asia

FUSIONartPHOTOGRAPHY.com “Adults Only” has a sexual connotation but the magazine is far from that…........ / it is a magazine read by both westerners and chinese…................full of interviews/articles/where to go/restaurants/bars/survival mechanisms/found in galleries/restaurants/........a must have magazine/can be bought in China and online Books published by “thats shanghai” maybe bought world wide. The staff /both chinese and western/ and particularly the editor Steven Crane and his co editor/Miriam Raymond were awesome and my life with them made so very easy. I would visit the office , check out the scene and then return home to work and send them any requests by courier. What I love best about the cover is the name/that famous name/Thomas Keneally and I shook with excitement when 1st viewed the magazine and at that very moment my work faded into insignificance . I hardly knew a soul in those days in Shanghai but strangely that added to the excitement…........... it was rather like a ‘Shanghai affair’.............an element of mystery and secrecy but no repercussions! ............ Oct/’09 Just a few more thoughts on this image. On the day I met the magazine team at “that’s shanghai” office, Steven Crane said, during the meeting, “Pretend Shanghai was once a young girl and now she is a sofisticated young woman”......so what would you create. I thought ….mmmm….I think I could do that…...so this was basically the 1st complex fusing of images. Seemed so appropriate that the Hyatt would be running up her leg….....Probably took about 8 hours as had no photographs of the Bund and had to do these in watercolour and then photograph them. This is one of the very very few times i have added another medium. The original was another color and they asked if I minded if they changed the colour. My response was….....do whatever you like/was very pleased and got the impression that it was immediately accepted .This was on the cover of the next months’ magazine. My Signature! /

His friend /Adrian Smith/my friend and neighbour/now 23 years old was with him on that night.They were celebrating James’s 20th birthday. A night which would change so many lives forever. James’s friends have formed STEP BACK THINK STEP BACK THINK ....an awareness campaign about the life changing consequences of alcohol -fuelled violence. so one could say..well what happens now / who is responsible for what happens after dark on the streets of MELBOURNE / STEP BACK THINK A representative from this group should be invited to speak in school assemblies/parent groups/businesses …................the possibilities are endless/this concerns us all and we MUST get the message. YES we are all responsible /as we are a society who are allowing drugs/alcohol to rule…......... ACTION IS NEEDED…..FAST /particularly around the KING STREET/nightclub area. *Just as an afterthought/no school age /under 18/should be admitted to any of these premises and if so….............

For those who live outside Australia you maybe interested to know that BRITT LAPTHORNE/ 21-year-old Melbourne woman went missing from a nightclub in the Croatian town of Dubrovnik on September 18. Her body was found many days later washed up near rocks not far from the city centre. A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to visit this wonderful city of DUBROVNIK…...........I felt I had found paradise and had been told this was a most magical place to take photographs. And yes/ I had found paradise and started to wonder about the war here in ‘91 /Death in Dubrovnik…...and then I started to think about this beautiful young woman taken tragically away from her family. I walked the streets of the Old City and surrounds for nearly a week.The more I thought about her the more I wanted to find out about her and so sat in a local internet cafe and tried to read as much as possible about her. So this only made me think more about this young woman and how her family must have felt at the time .So then as I walked the streets every crack in the old walls /every crack in the pavement I photographed /I asked myself did she walk this way….........did she see the beauty I was seeing….... / This image was taken in Dubrovnok and is of the Fuego Latino Club where BRITT LAPTHORNE visited the night she died……..........well some locals say she did visit the club and some say she didn’t! These images were taken from a 4th fl. balcony overlooking the nightclub. I watched for about 15 minutes. It would be impossible for this young woman’s exit from the nightclub to go undetected by the camera. I wonder why Britt’s parents could not see their daughter exit the club when they watched the film footage from that night…...... this image was taken at the small port in the OLD TOWN of Dubrovnik/this image is not meant to offend but something did happen to this young woman…...... ! The image below is of the camping ground above where Britt was found. .............sometimes we don’t know what we’re looking for….......this image was taken at a hotel on the outskirts of Dubrovnik.The puzzle and anguish of this mystery can be too much for a family to experience…......... I’m going to tell you what’s on my mind! looking for answers

FEATURED: EXCUSE ME! is anybody out there Is anybody out there…... FEATURED in the GROUP:The Woman Photographer PERTH to SYDNEY by bicycle in 58 days! I have just had a chance meeting with an amazing person! Whilst travelling along the Melbourne/Sydney highway I passed a lone cyclist and as luck would have it we both made the same detour off the main road before Yass and hence the chance meeting! Yasuke san is from Osaka. He bought a bike in Perth and was into the 55th day of his road trip from Perth to Sydney when we met . Also his first trip to Australia! It took him 10 days to cycle across the Nullabor Plain covering 130 kms a day. A few days ago he sent me a text to say..” I reached my goal sydney city at last”............ He did not say “is anyone out there” whilst riding but these were my thoughts as I was driving the highway. But he did say”my legs are aching” Upon completing his journey from PERTH to SYDNEY by bicycle Yasuke san had covered 4,000 kilometres ! Taking 58 days to complete this journey on his OWN. Have just heard that he will not have to sell the cycle in Sydney but by paying $40 it will accompany him on the Indian-Pacific over the next few days. Yasuke san has walked the temples of Shikoku Island. In the image above he is wearing the special stole worn whilst walking from temple to temple on Shikoku Island. It kept him safe in Japan and it will keep him safe in Australia during his travels. He has shown endurance and courage and his family must be very proud! On the island of Shikoku the pilgrim will visit the 88 temples. It is believed all 88 temples were visited by the famous Buddhist monk Kūkai, founder of the Shingon school, who was born in Zentsūji, Shikoku in 774. / In addition to the 88 temples of the pilgrimage, there are over 200 temples not considered part of the 88. The walking course is approximately 1,200km long and can take anywhere from 30 to 60 days to complete. check wikipedia for more information…...anyone with courage and determination is able to complete this walk! Good physical fitness and stamina is required to endure the stress of constant walking up and down the hills of Shikoku, in the burning sun and the pouring rain. check wikipedia for Nullabor Plain information….... Thought I should bring this back out of mothballs as will be published in AUSTRALIAN PHOTGRAPHIC SOCIETY’S IMAGE MAGAZINE…..........that is if I can FIND IT in my filing system and by then they may have changed their minds!! CHINA TODAY Today the newspaper triggers my creative thought process and the word is STUCK Yesterday ,as I travelled to Apollo Bay, the word was RAPE strange what you see in that complex network of powerpoles, kilometre after kilometre. HERE YOU and I are also reponsible for this disgraceful behaviour. split values in society! Men MUST be responsible and so MUST women. No use crying “WOLF” after the event. Both women and men MUST protect themselves. Lives changed by foolish decisions. behaviour in society/on the streets which is NOT acceptable. BRUMBY GOVT. allowing MORE party drinking venues in our CITY CENTRE of MELBOURNE. NOT enough police on our streets TELEVISION serving up a pile of RUBBISH ….I see suggested RAPE scenes/SEX on MELBOURNE TV. A warning to the viewer does NOT mean it is ok for US to be served out this RUBBISH/ CERTAIN types of REALITY TV have helped pave the way for this behaviour in our homes/schools/streets/etc…..... / MUSIC:I have listened to music which actually suggests sex/sleeping around….......DRUGS and ALCOHOL RADIO: YOU are also responsible NEWSPAPERS/MAGAZINES: YOU are also responsible.
