  • / / / Tree of LIfe TShirt TREE OF LIFE on sage / from my new “Collections”series using pencils and mainly dry media on paper Medium – pastels, pencils, marker pen / Substrate – paper / Photoshop – background altered from white to sage inspired by nature / and our connection with same / this is one of my latest pencil drawings / on a recent holiday i rediscovered a love for drawing and detail / i spent time observing nature and recording it Many of these artworks come from a time of reflection and meditation / I cannot say exactly where they’re coming from, but they are somewhat visionary, a bit self portraity and depict what’s going on in my heart and my life. I hope you like them and thank you for looking :)

  • / Media – pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolour pencils, photoshop / Substrate – paper The young lady is The Bird Whisperer, she holds a small injured bird in her gloved hands….. his wing is broken from a fall he suffered when attacked by a larger bird….as the little birds are considered prey…..but he will be okay now he is in the care of ‘The Bird Whisperer’......she is gentle and kind and knows how to heal the little bird’s wing so that he will fly again From the “Connections” Series of new pencil drawings that reveal the connection between ourselves, each other and nature, I hope you like, thank you for looking ;)

  • / Medium – pencil, black marker, pastel, watercolour pencils, coloured pencils, charcoal / Substrate – acid free professional tracing paper Living a balanced lifestyle isn’t easy….... / can be a little bit like balancing an egg on your head some days :)

  • / / nurture / The act of nourishing or nursing; tender care; education; training; That which nourishes; food; diet; The environmental influences that contribute to the development of an individual; see also nature; to nourish or nurse / en.wiktionary.org/wiki/nurture Media – pencil and photoshop / Substrate – paper I can’t explain this, ‘cept to say, it’s inspired by our connection with nature and the fragility of life itself sometimes, the message coming through is to nurture life by way of fostering goodwill toward one another and accepting we have a duty of care to our natural world also. Because Easter is approaching I thought it appropriate :) The child’s sustenance, or umbilical cord if you like is coming from a tree, symbolic of the healing that nature can bring….the new life and growth that comes with nurture both of spirit and of nature. Humility is understanding our rightful place in the scheme of all things, including nature, family structure and the wider community…... a world where there is tolerance for all, is the one i pray for

  • / / Island Dreams Media – pencil and photoshop / Substrate – paper Dedication – to Jack during my recent holiday I had time to relax and meditate, to connect with nature….this is an expression of my impression of Tangalooma. There are dolphins there, with whom i connected daily and a lot of sealife, including birds, seastars, rays, fish…. the original drawing is gifted to Jack, a fellow artist i met on Tangalooma and now friend, who really appreciated this drawing so much, that I felt greatly encouraged….

  • / Canvas Print / / Framed Print / / Greeting Card Moonlit Tide coloured pencil, pencil, charcoal, pastels on paper another in the “Connections” series of dry media on paper, I completed this today. / this young lady dressed in her patterned hawaiian hibiscus moo moo, is representational of how healing still water is, particularly on a moonlit night at eventide. Peace, tranquility, harmony….oneness with nature

  • / / Framed Print Sweet Rosie / made from paper, pencils, charcoal, marker pen and stuff like that :) Here is a new one from my “Connections” series, all done with lots of dry media. This one is about the connection we have with our loved ones, roses always speak volumes about beauty, love, romance…......and wanting to connect…...what happens we we give and receive roses, why do we give and receive them…..it’s really sentimental stuff…..ahh where would we be without all that roses say for us, through us, about us, to others :) I hope you like my “Sweet Rosie”.....these roses are for you :)

  • / Morning Light World English Bible / Yahweh make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. From the ‘Connection Series’, this is a pencil drawing, coloured with aquacolour crayons on paper… i have played around with this quite a bit in photoshop also, applying layers and more colour to enrich the overall look When i ponder this, it gives me a feeling of hope, like after the mourning, there is morning and the sun comes out again….. It’s all about our connection with nature and other lofty things :)

  • Earth Watch tonight 8.30 – 9.30 Australia, turn off your lights for 1 hour :) / before photoshop colouring it was just a pencil sketch as above / / / Mother Nature a pencil drawing on paper / i’ve coloured this in photoshop this drawing came about while I was holidaying on an island off the Qld coast recently, I was there when the oil spill happened, and a cyclone threatened to disturb our lovely rest….but as it happened, we were not disturbed by either of these events, and were lucky enough to connect with dolphins each and every day, this is from my latest “Connection” series, it’s about our connection with creation and every living thing, especially the beautiful dolphins of Tangalooma.. I hand fed the dolphins and Tinkerbell, a mother dolphin gave me what i like to call 5 dolphin kisses to the hand. I also encountered the other dolphins called Echo, the 2 baby dolphins, one named Phoenix and it was a really special time for me. Dolphin facts I learned at Tangalooma: . Baby dolphins have hair and whiskers…they have a hairy growth on their fluke/tail and they have whiskers on their face, so that their mother knows when they are going to suckle…it tickles her and she can get into the right position . The pack of dolphins at Tangalooma have given many gifts of fish and / things like eels to their feeders and the staff their, which are in a glass display case with the various stories . The baby dolphins ‘play’ with puffer fish…they annoy the puffers til they PUFF and then toss them to and fro on the surface like they are ping pong balls . Dolphins chase their prey upside down . Many dolphins get entangled in fishing line and makes them unable to feed properly, as it gets around their fluke and around their mouths….they eventually die if they don’t receive intervention . The males get into packs and they fight for dominance, the stress of this shortens their lifespan, so the females actually live longer . A baby dolphin suckles for the first 18 months and does not eat anything while suckling…during that time the juvenile dolphin learns to hunt, they are not born with these skills, they are learned. . A baby dolphin suckles approximately every 10 minutes . Other dolphins in the pack protect the baby dolphins while the mother dolphin feeds, etc . Dolphins are mammals and share many similarities with humans…. / they can see well above and below the water :) . At Monkey Mia in Western Australia where they also feed wild dolphins, only the male dolphins come in to feed now, they have bullied the female dolphins so that they don’t come in to shore anymore….

  • / A Pocket Full of Posies Ring a-ring o’ roses, / A pocketful of posies. / a-tissue!, a-tissue!. / We all fall down. I created this from a tissue box for the Mini Challenge: Recycled Art over in the forums here on RB. The tissue box shall now live on my kitchen bench and is the new dispenser for recyclable plastic bags :) this was painted using aquarelle watercolour crayons and black marker pen, over an undercoat of white gesso…fixative applied liberally after to protect the paint work I thought this poem was very appropriate and hence the title….as it was originally a box full of tissues :) there are many variations of this poem, the one i’ve quoted is the UK version.

  • / Journey of a Thousand Thoughts / the drawing prior to photoshopping I drew this last night in bed….with a sketch pad on my lap, by a lowlit lamp…..the eyes came first, as usual…....then the rest…...until i had but a head…..and no room for a body…... I thought what can I add to make this more about me, more interesting….then i remembered the beautiful hot air balloons I’d seen recently photographed by my friend Steven Agius and a while ago some other balloons taken by my friend Jeannette Sheehy and I thought it would make a great balloon….drifting away through the atmosphere, deep in thought….that’s how i often find myself…semi self portrait Drawn with pencil on A3 acid free cartridge paper. / Coloured in photoshop
