  _My studio was in an uproar as I was redecorating…everything was in boxes packed away…I had to paint, I had to do something to take m…

  My studio was in an uproar as I was redecorating…everything was in boxes packed away…I had to paint, I had to do something to take my mind of the horrors that were being shown day and night and yet I could not turn the television off. / Then I found my large journal with some blank pages in it…o.k. I thought I’ll do some flowers….I could find only some tubes of paint but no brushes…I was desperate…looking around I found something and started to paint with it…I could not really see what I was doing…the images just flowed out of my brain on to the paper…several weeks later I looked at them more closely and then I realized what they were…these are the images that I painted and I gave them titles that I thought expressed the emotion that was felt in the city at the time... / / September City.. still with no idea of what was in store…colours are bright, but on an even keel.. / / September City 2...the days before the horror..no one could imagine how things can change in a day…colours begin to darken… / / September City 3..Chaos...when the horrors started..no where to turn…no where to run…the city is covered in clouds of white dust…colours are dark and obscured…. / / September City..Disbelief...this could not be happening…we should be safe…why is this happening to us? shades of darkness hover over everything now… / / September City..Fear...where next..what is to happen to us…all around us are the shadows of fear…no place to go… / / September City..Lost...we’ll never recover from this…there is no going back…this is the end…. / / September City..Missing...where are they…our loved ones…have you seen this man? / / September City..Redemption...it will take time, but we will recover….we are proud to be Americans… I used acrylic paint and an old plastic membership card, to do these paintings…nothing else...they are dated the week of September 11 2001….

  Now I know for sure I will never use Photoshop…. I was at Apple today buying a back-up hard drive as I have so much art stored on my computer… / The young guy there persuaded me to stop, and said he would give me a personal photoshop demo….in vain did I try to tell him that I’m a painter, not a photographer or digital artist..but he said I might want do photos one day and create all sorts of wonderful images with them… So I sat down and he joyfully started to show me what I could do with a photo in the unlikely event I became a photographer….he was so young and full of enthusiasm, I did not want to disappoint him…besides I thought I would finally get to see what the hoo-ha was all about… The gizmo to cut out…the gizmo to paint…it all looked exciting…then he started to talk about layers…I felt a strange weariness creeping over my soul and I began to see double…my shoulders started to ache and I developed a strange mist before my eyes…his voice began to retreat, as I continued to smile fixedly at him…just as I began to think water torture would be easier, it was over…. I thanked him profusely and told him I would think about it… I now have renewed respect and awe for all you digital artists out there, and all those who are either using or attempting to learn photoshop….take my word for it, you are all very talented and creative, but you must also have incredible patience to work with this far reaching software…..this kind of patience is necessary to acquire the skills with which to master current technology….... At this stage of my life, it takes all the patience I have just to finish a painting..

  I am proud to unveil my newest creation titled Coy Kiss / I have been working on this over the last several months and have finally birthed it as of last night. There are many layers and texture. This painting literally changes and comes alive in different lighting. I used acrylic and some other mediums to slow the drying process. After it was done I finished the water in my painting with gloss varnish in certain areas to achieve water highlights…so it actually appears like the water is real…and perhaps that there is even movement in it. This is a special piece to me, there is a lot of symbolism and beauty in Koi fish to me. Also I am drawn to fish in general and life in water. / The bright contrasting colors and dead space of this work is what attracted me to it in the first place. I want to say a special “Thank You” to Rebecca Cruz who let me paint her photo titled Koi As I was creating the name for it, the play on words for “Coy” just kept coming to my heart. Thus “Coy Kiss”! / There is a written work from Venus and Adonis by William Shakespeare, that I chose to describe my work. I feel it perfectly captures my heart for this piece and the moment… ...”Never did passenger in summer’s heat / More thirst for drink than she for this good turn. / Her help she sees, but help she cannot get; / She bathes in water, yet her fire must burn: / ‘O! pity,’ ‘gan she cry, ‘flint-hearted boy: / ‘Tis but a kiss I beg; why art thou coy?”...   weeeheeee I can now add, sold from gallery26! lucky lady, Talia is the new proud owner! rainbow stripes / merge to Rob ‘the guy’ clements / and also “emerge” ( a variation) to Theresa, Rob’s lady and now in 2008 summer flow dots / as well as recent painting (image to come) / from the last exhibition at North Sydney / More sold than I’d ever imagined, so I thought I share what did sell with all and sundry! fish / / (it was a different version, on two canvases, but did I take a photo of it? nope-forgot!...another small yellow landscape also sold which I don’t have a photo of…) / and commissioned paintings sold(for someone on a tight budget!) all three together / yoga star (also a t-shirt) / and earlier this year, dandelion / the irony is, I always think people like light coloured work, because they’re easy to live with-but I love the bright stuff…and everyone who’s bought my art also seems to! update, update! from north sydney-3more to add! the red / the blue / and the brown, which is the same as the blue. There you go! 10 from the north sydney show. How wonderful. It really made my day! ( I heard yesterday!) Life gets better everyday!

  I am honored to have my newest design The Journey and the Battle featured on the Home Page today. It’s a piece I am very excited about or rather that I’m passionate about. There is a battle for all of us and this design is a reminder to me to keep going, keep fighting and keep standing up for what is right. Also in this work the knight may be surrounded by fire but he is not harmed by it. Sometimes things seam more overwhelming than they really are at first glance but it is never worth giving up the fight for what is right…Truth, Justice and Freedom.
