  • BOOK IS NOW PUBLISHED!!!! / She Sells Sea Cards by the Sea Shore / A short story by iAN Derrick with illustrations by Karin Taylor (me)!! Karin’s storefront iAN’s storefront This has been an amazing experience to be a part of….an enormous thank you to Matt Mawson who has tirelessly and generously worked over the past 2 days to bring this little book into being….. I could never have done it without you Matt! And of course a huge thank you to the amazing writer and friend of mine, one of those great Aussie characters that just keeps on keeping on, keeps on getting better with age…. that is iAN Derrick I first met iAN through a journal Matt wrote about one of iAN’s books, and since that day, we sorta hit it off….. I talked to iAN about my father and he also was inspired to write another short story called Understanding Harry and correct me if i’m wrong, but i think he may have been inspired to write a story that reflected some of the goings on with Matt’s four legged friend also. One day I got an email from the amazing iAN, saying although he thought my father should be the one to tell and publish his own stories, he’d had a little idea and brought it to life in Understanding Harry and not long after this i received a second email saying that he’d done it again, but i would have to wait til the morning when he loaded the story to red bubble, and he and I and hubby all savoured the moment….....waiting with baited breath, until upon waking in the morning two days ago, I was thrilled to discover this wonderful story had been written. A story about my characters…involved a certain Mrs T….but i will tell you no more, as it’s a must read…and you can read it over here She Sells Sea Cards by the Sea Shore Thank you iAN and Thank you Matt i am eternally grateful / for all my friends :) and those who are new to red bubble or haven’t crossed paths with me before ….. a hearty welcome to my part of this big bubbly place! I have some news to share with you!!! It is both brilliant wonderful enchanting and delightful all at the same time!!! Friend and writer iAN Derrick who, to quote his own words has been Socialistic humanist, designated friend of Fishes of Sahul, survivor of numerous occupations including commercial referee, motel management, professional aquaria and wildlife collector, book & record shoppe proprietor, Asian food business. Personal cancer creator, wheatgrass and sprout producer, brewer of green tea with fresh ginger, and sometimes as she is writ sorta bloke and who’s favourite food is yumcha, has just written a wonderful SHORT STORY and dare i say it, it’s all about MWA, me, and my girls (my creations)!! You must read it….it’s sooo good…..tooo good to miss out on…. / the story is called She Sells Sea Cards by the Sea Shore Of course, it’s only an imaginery story, but it has so many elements of truth in it, that i was gobsmacked and honoured…. i think i can die happy now :D Being honoured in this way, is a biggie for me :) iAN for being the great character and writer you are, for somehow being at the helm of my dreams and spreading the word about the magic of ‘seeing’ , truly ‘seeing’....... there is a message in this story…. _*Mrs. T gathered them all around in a circle and whispered, ‘The magical land is close enough for you to visit, but way too far if you do not see.’ something to make you think, something to help with pondering….... something to cheer your day and take you back to your childhood, and the carefree-ness of that time!! Please VISIT iAN’S BOOKS on Lulu.com here Here are the stars of the story!! Meet some of the the characters/stars of the story - / Beach Betty / Mi & Yuu / Miss Teapot / Linda Longface / Party Girl / Dippy Love / Stargazer

Hey everyone!! The wonderfully creative Jo O’Brien has just begun a chain of interviews to bring all of us closer to some of our favorite artists!! The first ball was given to MuscularTeeth who interviewed the famous Karin Taylor and Butchart. Karin then proceed to interview me and Mui-Ling !! What an honor!! Yay!! So now presenting Midori Furze!!! ....................................................................................................................................................... How does being a creative person and pursuing your creativity affect other aspect of your life? I carry a timer set up as an alarm clock. / When I am in the mode of creativity I often forget the time, so I set the timer for whenever my next important time will be e.g. picking up children, start cooking dinner or phone call someone. / When the bell goes, I switch myself and remember where I am and do what I’m suppose to do so I can manage my days on this planet. / I also have a diary which tells me what I must do on that day. / If the diary has a blank space, I smile and go straight to my studio and stay there all day but these days I always have something on it. : ((( / I am lucky to have a husband who accepts me as I am. I hope he does. / He might believe that it’s normal because I am Japanese. Hehehe… / By the way I thought he was a bit different from others but I liked him as he is and I thought “Well… he is an unusual guy. I guess because he is an Australian!!” After we moved to Australia I realised he IS a unique, even from others in Australia. Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful I am a great fan of Karin Taylor and Frozenfa. I know many wonderful people on Red Bubble and I love them too, but Karin and fa are soooooooooooooo special to me. / They are special to many people on RB and I am proud I know them too. / Oh, it has to be one person? / OK then, that will be TIM ( the Twisted Inner Monster is a Frozenfa’s creation). / I know he isn’t really a person, but I think he is close enough. / He makes me smile. / He makes me laugh. / Hug~! Show & tell us about five works on redbubble that have moved or inspired you I have been on RB for 6 months, and I have met a lot of wonderful people and seen great artworks. It is very difficult to choose only 5 works. Can I put 50? No? Oh, it is soooooooooooooo tough!! OK, here it is… / The Band! by Ellen / Ron Carter 02 by Jean M. Laffita / Shoreline by kafka / Dead Friends 5 by John Douglas / Imaginary Life 2007 by Paul Ruiz If you see their works, you will understand why I choose them!! / I’m also inspired by these lovely people and their works, – hahpistuff, Ken Mucke, Tine Wiggens, yanmos, Matt Tworkowski, vladstudio, girlinthestars, Cailean, Ronald wigman and of course Karin Taylor and Frozenfa. Sorry I can’t mention all of you. : ((( / Thank you for reading. / Lots of loooooooove and a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig hug! ....................................................................................................................................................... Thank you SO SO much for your time and effort, Midori!!!! Thanks for letting me do this interview with you! Hugs!! XD / I think Midori is a wonderful artist who’s great in both painting and digital work! you should really check out her gallery here Have you seen her portfolio of the exhibitions she’s been involved in? I think she’s really great, not to mention so very kind and friendly!! Thank you so much for doing this interview with me, Midori!! =D And of course thank you everyone for reading!! do me and Midori a favor and help journal about this interview to let all your friends know, will ya? am quite a small fry with not many ppl watching me, so it’d be great if others can read this interview too! Hell, am so broadcasting this interview into my blog for everyone to see. Is it ok, Midori? =D PS: Tim is squealing like a lil school girl in my head, it’s so funny.. ahahahah.. XD / Tim: Am NOT SQUEALING!! squeal!!! oooh i’d so glomp Midori-sama!!! XD

Yay!! And so yesterday i’ve managed to interview Midori Furze!! am so so thankful that she’s willing to take the time to answer. Please do read her interview here!! =D Now presenting one of my favorite artist on RB, BarbBarcikKeith!!! / / ......................................................................................................................................................... My Creativity How does being a creative person and pursuing your creativity affect other aspects of your life? You know, the first thing that popped into my head with this question is “don’t clean the house very much”!! I do what I have to do only.. nothing extra. The house still manages to get clean (with only 2 of us here, it’s not that hard!) though. / Actually, I don’t get out much. I have deadlines and things that I have to get done so I’m at the drawing board as often as possible. I do take breaks because my hands won’t allow me to stay at it as long as I would like to. BUT.. I am married to a man that does the wash.. cooks the meals.. does the shopping and even runs the vacuum every once in a while and THAT really helps a lot. He does hate my headphones though… Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful One person??? You must be mad! I’ve been on RB for about 8 months now and I don’t think I’ve ever met a more caring, considerate or complimentary group of people in my life! The encouragement is wonderful and the camaraderie and extremely helpful. I’ve recommended the Bubble to other artists on other sites as well and the ones that have actually joined have found it a lot like home… Show & tell us about five works on redbubble that have moved or inspired you / In no particular order: / The Letter by Roz McQuillan touched me with the way the painting is done just enough to let you know that something important is happening. Love the way she did it.. and find it inspiring in many ways. / Temptress by Lindseyh blew my mind the first time I saw it! I thought the execution exceptional but the idea of it all was just too cool.. (you sure I can only have five?) / Then there is Falcon Studies by eric shepherd is simply PERFECT! I love the way he put all if it together.. the colors, the background.. everything about it is inspiring.. / I Drew Drew by alleycatsgarden which is really superb pencil work and has given me a lot of ideas for future works. / Ruffled Gold by John Houle shows what you can do with a simple pencil. The way he did the feathers.. mind-blowing!! Now, I would like to mention some others that have equally inspired and awed me: Brian Towers, Carlos Solorza, Terry Dunnett, Matthew Thornburg, L.K. Southward, Randy Jones, Bec Winnel and I could go on forever but there’s only so much space. / Numerous artists, photographers have made a difference either in me or in my art. This is a great place to be!! / ......................................................................................................................................................... Thank you so so much, Barb!! Thank you for the honor. i really love your works! i’m especially touched by how you’re helping the Noah’s Lost Ark Animal Sanctuary.. and i really find you an inspiration because of how you can create such magical piece even with all the pain in your hands. it’s really encouraging. i believe anyone who’ve had RSI or is having one will be amazed to see how strong you are. Everyone, please do check out her wonderful drawings!! And do check out her shots and drawings of some of the Big Cats saved by Noah Ark, they’ll sure to blow you away !! So sorry i can only interview 2 person.. i have so many fav artist here on RB and i can only interview 2?! waaaa… T_T i can’t wait to read the interviews of the rest of you!! I think Jo will be coming up with some forum to gather all the wonderful interviews together. that’d be awesome eh? Love you all!!! (= ^ . ^ =)

The hosts of Live, Love, Dream are just such wonderful people. Many artists submit their creations to them because they represent our Dreams! I have been honored once again by this wonderful group with a feature of my piece I Heard You Call BUT if you go look at the home page, you will not find my feature on the front page! There are so many amazing artists on Redbubble that my feature is on the second page! I think THAT is amazing … there are so many grand pieces of art that they span multiple pages! So please take a look and feast your eyes on the many, many talented people here at RB!! Enjoy!! —Judi

Sometimes the little bit of recognition helps when there is so much going against the creative process in our world. Thanks for helping me keep the flame lit! “Sunset on my street’ was featured in Mood & Ambience group, and I am fairly new to the group. I’m in the process of learning what the group is all about, so thanks for the help and direction, and showing me I got it right at least this once! And “Hiding” was featured in Tabby Time. I have a white cat, so Tabby Time has to wait for opportune moments that I get when we have feline visitors to our yard. Thank you, Tabby Time group moderators, for this feature!

Wow, I didn’t expect quite a response as this on my website. Thank you all so very much for such wonderful and encouraging comments for once in my life I am speechless. WOW! It does mean a lot to me that you guys are in my life. We share our creativeness with our art, writing and photography but even more than that we are now one big family sharing thoughts and ideas. It doesn’t matter what colour we are or where we are from or what wrongs we may have committed in our past the love bond is there between us and that is one which is very hard to sever. I am so very glad that I have met you all either in person or through your chosen creative genre and for those who think that I am going to leave the Red Bubble now that I have a website, THINK AGAIN. My site will just be running in the background and if I get any sales from it then that’s a wonderful bonus for me, if I don’t get any sales then there is always tomorrow eh? Hugs Tony

I am proud to say Nic and I have been sharing an amazing journey together and we are so much more than friends, she is a fantastic artist, and is now living in Hervery Bay with her family, and loving it.. / Her work is from the heart, multi textured, layered, colourful and beautiful just like the artist that creates it, she sold all three pieces she had at Grammar, and these were a combination of old and new styles, these were truly Nic…I hope she post’s them on her bubble site soon for you all to enjoy, till then take a look at her wonderful work…. Arriving in the evening, we were greeted by magestic gums, lit up in the darkness only seen in the country. A didgeredoo playing and complimentary glass of wine.An astounding 320 entries were displayed in the hall, along with some beautiful sculpture. A very generous finger food supper was on hand, very well delivered by some excellent young , very young, helpers. Official speeches were brief, before an interesting talk by Anton Hassell, a renowned sculptor. Peter Perry from the / Castlemaine Art gallery was the judge. Martin McInerney won the Best / recognisable local landscape. The were some very good art works entered by young artists, under 10 years, under 14 years. Many paintings were admired and discussed by local artists and art lovers. / Sunday, 4.00 saw many of us return to pick up unsold paintings, and discuss again the good, the better and the best. A good weekend. Regards, Heather

  • What makes your life wonderful?

I was on my way for a day trip to the beach. My car was full of lovely young High school ladies that I’ve had the privilege to come to know, love and mentor. They, and the others that were unable to come with us that day, allow me to be a part of their lives and we have laughed and sometimes cried together. More than just a mentor they have accepted me as friend. I thought, as we were traveling, that they are a large part of what makes my life wonderful. Something that I will look back on fondly when I’m old and grey, which can’t be measured by any wealth here on earth. Of course, this isn’t the only thing that makes my life wonderful. My Husband of 23 years and my beautiful 3 children, who are hardly children anymore. My faith in a God who is passionately in love with me and has blessed me with all these things. A passion so strong that it can’t be contained but only shared; for people, the youth, nature, music and art. The ability to not only see beauty but create it as well. And last but not least, the ability to love and be loved by so many. These are some of the things that make my life wonderful, funny how none of them include wealth, business success, achievement, possessions, or anything else that this world often promotes as what it takes to have a wonderful life. Is this a life without pain, suffering or hurt? Not at all, but with hope, faith and love, “wonderful” can still be found. What makes your life wonderful??

Having been an artist for well….ummm…..six months I must say its transformed my life. It’s a wonderful pastime and has taken me to places in my mind I’ve never explored before. I’ve never really felt compelled to share my work, nor have I thought I could make money out of it. Since starting my efforts six months ago I’ve covered every inch of my house with my work…......an I mean every inch. A few weeks ago I actually hung a canvas in the laundry! I uploaded my first piece to Red Bubble yesterday and I was amazed to find an email waiting for me this morning to say someone actually bought it. WOW what a feeling! Here’s the piece I sold – http://preview.redbubble.com.au/works/show/842 Anyhow i can’t wait to continue to share more of my work and see some of the fantastic things from other artists here. I think we can build a very powerful artistic community where everyone benefits.

I’m absolutely in LOVE with some of the art on this site. We just bought a new house and I’m looking to decorate it with some great pieces. I’d love to know if the larger framed or mounted pieces come out crisp and clear like I view them on my monitor? I’d love to support some fellow bubblers but I really want it to be amazing and breath taking! Anyone have any tips or advice on the quality? Thanks!

Just wondering where I will be in ten years. Here I am going to be 60 at the end of the month, and signing up with another art site. Two this week! I only hope at least one of the sites becomes fruitful. I love to create, I love to paint, and be with other creative people, but I only have so much room in my home to store all of my art! The first year I started back into my art, I created over 40 pieces! I average now about 20 pieces a year. My technique has matured. I know where I am going with my paintings and drawings. Before, when I was creating only on the computer, after putting away my paints and brushes for many years, I left my right side, the creative side of my brain to just wither. Before I really seemed to be searching, and trying anything I could to see if that might be the right avenue to take. Now I feel secure, but not bored, because with each new piece I create, I am able to tell myself, I am learning to be better.
