  • One of the most frequent topics of conversation in outback regions – after a much needed fall of rain has occurred – is how many inches (or millimetres) did you get ? This composition illustrates the checking of a rain gauge on an outback property. Mud that sticks to your boots, plus an abundance of green frogs are also depicted in this original splatter texture pen and ink with wash drawing.

  • this was shot in Grytviken, South Georgia. The building has now probably been bulldozed as it was part of the dangerous ruins of the once whaling town. It is the town where Shackleton turned up looking for help to rescue the rest of his crew who were still stuck on Elephant Island after their ship, the “Endurance”, was crushed by ice.

  • When i took this one i was like… “Man, this is MY PHOTO?”. I’ve always think i suck at landscapes, and this photograph made me think otherwise. Anyway, this lovely sky (for me is truly perfect, directly from God’s Kitchen) is from “Pucón”, a beautiful city in the south of Chile. In winter, the south of Chile is awsome (it has been compared with the landscapes of New Zeland!)

  • Kids will go in no matter what, and a few ‘brave” adults too /

  • Once “Elements of Burberry” (as named on this site!), it has made a miraculous transformation into “Weaving Light”. I like it better now. Though I love to paint layers and layers…so we’ll see! Again!

  • in red close up

  • This 24×36 original oil painting is a depiction of one of the ferry boats commonly seen making its way through the San Juan Islands in Washington State’s Puget Sound. My husband and I have ridden many of these during our years of residence in this area. As you can see, we did a little playing with this in photo shop in order to achieve a nostalgic effect, since we miss those days of cold damp weather with the aroma combination of salt water and a steaming cup of Starbucks coffee!

  • That magic moment between stormy skies and sunshine breacking through.

  • Model wishes to remain anonymous. Enough manipulation of photo image to make it impossible to identify. Graphic manipulation of photographic image along with elements added through use of Corel PhotoPaint, Corel Draw, and Corel Trace. Actual techiniques applied were not track and I doubt I could duplicate the results. Image took approximately 20 hours to create, not counting time to produce original photograph.

  • Scroll down for another image of this beautiful Cow Moose and her darling calf From my collection: / Emerquinox ~ The Spirit of Alaska ~ Alaska North Star Winter Scenics Emerquinox is a word I coined when I combined the words Emerge and Equinox. This magnificent Cow Moose and her young calf were photographed near North Pole Alaska, which is about a twenty minute drive from Fairbanks Alaska on Badger Road. Did you know more than one Moose is still Moose? Many Moose, or two Moose, or one Moose, it is always Moose. Just thought you would want to know that. :) I have many more images of this beautiful Cow Moose and her yearling calf as they permitted me to watch and photograph them for over an hour. Many of my viewers seem to perceive I am standing on the ground within arms length of this 1200+ lb Moose!! I wish for everyone to know and understand that I remained in my truck watching her with her adorable calf for well over an hour. And while she did approach me as I remained in my truck watching her, (with my engine idling and heater blowing as the temps were subzero!) once she decided I was no threat to her, she seemed as curious about me as I was about her and her darling calf! The Cows are very protective of their young, and the Bulls are aggressive and unpredictable as well. And I would advise everyone to never approach a Moose. She is a ‘resident’ Moose, and she and her calf live in the deep forest surrounding my home in the wilderness when I lived in Alaska near North Pole. She is wild, and certainly not tame, as someone asked. A Cow Moose will kill you if you come between her and her calves. Cows are generally not hunted, and she is simply accustomed to being around humans since she is one of several generations of Moose born in this area. With an abundance of Diamond Willow (their favourite) and other tender shoots along the roadways, and the remnants of summer gardens, they simply brush off the snow with their noses and browse. She has no need to migrate. There are many many more in this area. They are elusive however, and nocturnal for the most part, so it is always a thrill to see one! It is only in winter when one sees them struggling to survive the deep winter browsing during the “daylight” hours. And then too, in winter it is dark for so many hours so the night is extended! Most people think of Alaska as The Land of the Midnight Sun. That is true only for a short time in a very brief summer. In winter Alaska is The Land of Perpetual Darkness. The calf’s first winter is the most precarious. This calf is experiencing her first winter. I can see that she is a female calf by her fine feminine sex characteristics. The male calves are larger and masculine. During summer it is generally late evening, dusk, during the night and early morning when one sees the beautiful Moose browsing and foraging in the forests and along the rivers and roadways. ~ Sharon Mau The moose (Alces alces) is the world’s largest member of the deer family. The Alaska race (Alces alces gigas) is the largest of all the moose.
