  • / Sumac Walk is part of the Landscape Collection Watercolour on Arches Paper…no brushes were used in completing this painting… A Walk Along the Old Tracks / by Robert Kinsley When I was young they had already been / abandoned for years / overgrown with sumac and sour apple, / the iron scrapped, the wood long / gone for other things. / In summer my father would send us along them / to fetch the cows from the back pasture, / a long walk to a far off place it seemed / for boys so young. Lost again for a moment / in that simple place, / I fling apples from a stick and look for snakes / in the gullies. There is / a music to the past, the sweet tones / of perfect octaves / even though we know it was never so. / My father had to sell the farm in that near perfect time / and once old Al Shott killed a six foot rattler on the tracks. / “And when the trolly was running” he said, “you could jump / her as she went by and ride all the way to Cleveland, / and oh,” he said, “what a time you could have there.”

  • Acrylic on canvas 1m x 1m The angel carrying the soul preciously cupped in his hands as he strides forward. • Beauty is Eternally Free / Hamoa Beach Maui Hawai’i I picked some fresh Plumeria blossoms and a branch of blooming Bougainvillea and tossed them onto the luxurious black sand of Hamoa Beach and was only able to get a couple of shots when a wave came in and carried them out to sea. Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009 / All Rights Reserved “Hidden behind the veil of mystery, / Beauty is eternally free from the slightest stain of imperfection. From the atoms of the world, / He created a multitude of mirrors; / into each one of them / He cast the image of His Face; / To the awakened eye, / anything that appears beautiful is only a reflection of that Face. / Now that you have seen the reflection, hurry to its Source; / In that primordial Light the reflection vanishes completely. Do not linger far from that primal Source; / When the reflection fades, you will be lost in darkness. / The reflection is as transient as the smile of a rose; / If you want permanence, / turn towards the Source; / If you want fidelity, / look to the Mine of faithfulness. / Why tear your soul apart over something here one moment / and gone the next?” ~ by Jami ~ Translation by Andrew Harvey and Eryk Hanut Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi

  • an earhart chappel photograph You keep saying you’ve got something for me. / Something you call love, but confess. / You’ve been messin’ where you shouldn’t have been messin’ / And now someone else is gettin’ all your best. These boots are made for walking, and that’s just what they’ll do / One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you. You keep lying when you oughta be truthin’ / And you keep losin’ when you oughta not bet. / You keep samin’ when you oughta be changin’. / Now what’s right is right, but you ain’t been right yet. These boots are made for walking, and that’s just what they’ll do / One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you. nancy sinatra (for my penelope who loves to dance to this song thanks to “dancing with the stars”) You keep playin’ where you shouldn’t be playin / And you keep thinkin’ that you’ll never get burnt. / Ha! / I just found me a brand new box of matches yeah / And what he knows you ain’t had time to learn.
