Arrggghhh….I’m going to miss you all so much! Leaving tomorrow for a second honeymoon in NZ….not going to be much time for the bub, so I’ll just have to say hooroo and will catch up with you all when I return. Gotta go pack – cameras, lenses, tripod, cable release, lee filters, batteries, battery chargers, power leads, extension cord, powerboard….these are all essential, of course. Clothing and toiletries are optional extras… Take care all you lovely people, I’ll log in if I can, but it’s not going to happen often, I suspect.

The Gyoto Monks of Tibet are an often seen sight at many cultural events in the Byron Bay region. Seen here laughing, this particular monk escaped Tibet into India 50 years ago with His Holiness, The Dali Lama. His trademark expression and enjoying tea and biscuit, the joke is enjoyed by all at the table.

  • / / Shoes available at zazzle ‘Matryoshka Series’ Card by Karin Taylor Matryoshka on Holiday Purple & Single, is a mixed media production on canvas textured paper using ink, pastel, charcoal and acrylic paint. I would describe it as having strong design aspects. Matryoshka on Hols was born from my passion for vintage wooden dolls…I thought how cute it would be to dress her in some holiday gear, especially since Russia is usually a very cold place from what I hear…it’s nice to give her a break in a nice warm sunny climate such as Australia :D and and I’ve taken the liberty of giving her a bit of gypsy flair! Maybe she’ll like Australia and decide to stay here? / Maybe she’ll like wearing this bikini and buy some more in different colours? / Maybe she’ll pop up again somewhere when you least expect it, in a vivid array of daring colours! / or…maybe she’ll go home to Russia and we’ll see her in some traditional dress sometime? We’ll just have to wait n see! She could pop up anywhere, any time hehe

  • This is a composite of my images of Ka’ikena O’Iao Valley, West Maui, Hawai’i. © 2007 Sharon A Coultrap ~ Mahalo! ~ EARTH VOICES by: Bliss Carman (1861-1929) / “I heard the spring wind whisper / Above the brushwood fire, / The world is made forever / Of transport and desire. / “I am the breath of being, / The primal urge of things; / I am the whirl of star dust, / I am the lift of wings. / I am the splendid impulse / That comes before the thought, / The joy and exaltation / Wherein the life is caught. / Across the sleeping furrows I call the buried seed, / And blade and bud and blossom / Awaken at my need. / Within the dying ashes I blow the sacred spark, / And make the hearts of lovers / To leap against the dark. / I heard the spring light whisper / Above the dancing stream, / The world is made forever / In likeness of a dream. / I am the law of planets, / I am the guide of man / The evening and the morning are fashioned to my plan. / I tint the dawn with crimson, / I tinge the sea with blue / My track is in the desert, / My trail is in the dew. / I paint the hills with colour, / And in my magic dome / I light the star of evening to steer the traveller home. / Within the house of being, / I feed the lamp of truth / With tales of ancient wisdom and prophecies of youth. / I heard the spring rain murmur / Above the roadside flower, / The world is made forever / In melody and power. / I keep the rhythmic measure that marks the steps of time, / And all my toil is fashioned / To symmetry and rhyme. / I plow the untilled upland, / I ripe the seeding grass, / And fill the leafy forest with music as I pass. / I hew the raw, rough granite / To loveliness of line, / And when my work is finished, / Behold, it is divine! / I am the master-builder In whom the ages trust. / I lift the lost perfection to blossom from the dust. / Then Earth to them made answer, / As with a slow refrain / Born of the blended voices / Of wind and sun and rain, / This is the law of being / That links the threefold chain: / The life we give to beauty / Returns to us again.”

  • “The good you find in others, is in you too. / The faults you find in others, are your faults as well. / After all, to recognize something you must know it. / The possibilities you see in others, are possible for you as well. / The beauty you see around you, is your beauty. The world around you is a reflection, a mirror / showing you the person you are. / To change your world, you must change yourself. / To blame and complain will only make matters worse. / Whatever you care about, is your responsibility. / What you see in others, shows you yourself. / See the best in others, / and you will be your best. / Give to others, / and you give to yourself. / Appreciate beauty, / and you will be beautiful. / Admire creativity, / and you will be creative. / Love, / and you will be loved. / Seek to understand, / and you will be understood. / Listen, / and your voice will be heard. / Teach, / and you will learn.” ~ Author Unknown

  • A composite of my images of Kanaloa, also known as Kaho’olawe Island and Molokini at sunset on the beautiful golden sands of Po’olenalena Beach, Maui, Hawai’i “The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are. / The goal of the hero trip down to the jewel point / is to find those levels in the psyche that open, open, open, open, / and finally open to the mystery that is your Self. / Being Buddha consciousness or the Christ / – that’s the journey.” by Joseph Campbell ~ Tell the story so the story lives on… ~ Ozzie Kotani – Ku’u Pua Paoakalani ~ / Ozzie Kotani Ku’u Pua Paoakalani Dancing Cat

  • Earth Island
    by Sharon Anne Coultrap

    US$7.13–US$190.00

This composite, a matrix panoramic image I created using four of my photographs taken on Makena Beach Maui Hawai’i. Gerald May writes in The Awakened Heart ~ “There is a secret set within each of our hearts. It often goes unnoticed, we rarely can put words to it, and yet it guides us throughout the days of our lives. This secret remains hidden for the most part in our deepest selves. It is the desire for life as it was meant to be. Isn’t there a life you have been searching for all your days? You may not always be aware of your search, and there are times when you seem to have abandoned looking altogether. But again and again it returns to us, this yearning that cries out for the life we prize. It is elusive, to be sure. It seems to come and go at will. Seasons may pass until it surfaces again. And though it seems to taunt us, and may at times cause us great pain, we know when it returns that it is priceless. For if we could recover this desire, unearth it from beneath all other distractions, and embrace it as our deepest treasure, we would discover the secret of our existence. You see, life comes to all of us as a mystery. We all share the same dilemma – we long for life and we’re not sure where to find it. We wonder if we ever do find it, can we make it last? The longing for life within us seems incongruent with the life we find around us. What is available seems at times close to what we want, but never quite a fit. Our days come to us as a riddle, and the answers aren’t handed out with our birth certificates. We must journey to find the life we prize. And the guide we have been given is the desire set deep within, the desire we often overlook or mistake for something else or even choose to ignore. The greatest human tragedy is to give up the search. Nothing is of greater importance than the life of our deep heart. To lose heart is to lose everything. And if we are to bring our hearts along in our life’s journey, we simply must not, we cannot, abandon this desire.”
