I need a big canvas print of this so I had to reprocess the whole thing. / Firstly, I merged the 6 shots 2 photos at a time, which resulted in flawless merging of the clouds and ‘better’ merging of the waves. After that I still spent about 20 minutes on the waves. You can only see merging traces at 100% zoom on the 70003600 resolution, on the previous one there was merging mistakes everywhere, visible at full view on the 1200700 resolution…so big improvement there. Huge improvement on shadows and highlights too. There’s barely a blown-out highlight or black shadow, where as the previous one had a lot of both. Colour and contrast: This version has much less contrast and it has true colour. All I did was increase the black of yellows and reds with selective colour. minor levels adjustments( too much blows out highlights and blackens the shadows). So overall, a much more natural look. And much more pleasing to look at. I think I’m probably gonna lose fav’s with this version because the colours are less interesting. But I’ll gain fav’s from the people who appreciate a properly exposed and processed nature photo? A beautiful poem written by my wonderful, talented friend Lina…you inspire us all! / / Tree Nature / She kept growing beyond her means / what I mean is, / she kept growing beyond what she desired yesterday, / she thought / if only, / If only I was … better at this…. Problem was she did become better at everything / she desired to become better at! / and still, more / would call her forth like a tree in the forest.. / she fell so many times / yet, none seem to hear her falling / her pain / her fears except maybe her own heart. That felt lonely. Until, / One day she looked deep within / And it was here / She saw and felt / Her tree nature appear / Like a totem / A solemn answer / To the questions she brought / forth She branched out within herself / And the expectations began to subside / What she discovered was / She was best at growing / Some would call it expanding. If she could learn to live in the moments / Between desire, expansion desire.. / She thought perhaps I could find a balance / Of sorts, / Contentment at best / Liberation from her limitless / Limits!! After all, she was like a tree / Happiest when she was in the process / Of Becoming!! / It was only in the thought that she needed to arrive Anywhere That pain seemed to preside / And fear would rear So she planted her feet squarely underneath her and / Allowed her tree nature to shine through. All manner of miracles happened then. / She discovered the art of / Allowing / And her Art, the very core of all that she was and is, / Flourished / Because she knew, She, / Like a tree, Just kept on growing, / Until growing became knowing Knowing, We are never finished and we are never done. These are actually not poplar trees but the nesting colonies of the sociable weavers in the Kalahari desert. The weaver birds build their nests in high trees or in this case man made poles. The nesting material is harvested by local farmers to be sold as an industrial fire retardant and gets it’s color from the nearby Red dunes This image shows a detail. oil on canvas / 120×80 cm / original sold
