After some weeks of devoloping this piece in my mind it finally just started to come together. As usual I went at the theme with something different in mind. What are we to say about how the divine eye sees our world or we may see the divine world in comparison to our own. This thought inspired a more surreal feel to the finished product. Here is a dream request I created for mlgkats / Mel sent me a bubble mail in the past and told me she loves to dream of the stars. Thank you Mel for the opportunity to create this for you and I hope I did your dream justice. And for the record, the background of the star trail is real…it is one of my very first night star trails I’ve done and I couldn’t imagine creating this dream without the real thing.

One of my first autobiographical pieces. My childhood seed / has finally bloomed / amid the tangled brambles of a forest / confused / by distorted shadows / and I struggle to push back / this oppressive canopy. / Here I stand on the banks / of a world that was once so beautiful. / In this frenzy of growing up / I had almost forgotten the untroubled sleep / of innocent dreams / and those moments laced with magic / only children are divine enough to recognize. / For a moment / I can only stand in the silence / and breathe the fragrant bliss / of absolute stillness. / For a moment / I know that the world I remember / was never really as magical / as wonderful / as I had once believed. / It was only the projection of naïveté / and make believe / but there / upon the horizon / I saw such a world / so far beyond my reach. / The burdens of age were forgotten / and fell away / and, for a moment / I was a child / again. Sea Star Sculpture, Wategos Beach, Byron Bay / by Karin Taylor from the Beach Series I made this sculpture / on Wategos Beach Byron Bay / not another soul around / to give you an idea of the scale of the sculpture / most of the stones were the size of your palm / some twice that size and some smaller I had noticed large piles of beautiful stones behind me / began to create something out of them / intuitively, one stone at a time The song that really speaks for this piece is Echo Beach by Martha and the Muffins – click to see lyrics this was our signature song….along with Livin’ on an Island by Status Quo and of course 10CC’s Sunburn
