Slowly you will ascend these stairs, / A bundle of sun-colored leaves on your skirts, / And once you will look, crying, at the skies… The waters blanch.. as your face pales curtain-like, / As evening comes—observe the reddened air… / Ahmet Haşim http://freaky665.deviantart.com/ / http://causticstock.deviantart.com/ / http://night-fate-stock.deviantart.com/ /

we were all so addicted to spectacle: / the drama of the media and celebrity lives, our / huge cineplexes and large-screen tvs, the / cacophony of arena concerts and the overblown importance / we gave our own silly little struggles. / we were like the romans with their bread and circuses / we were in the colosseum enjoying our pageants and staged conflicts / while all the signs around us were pointing one way: / to our own ruin. / there came a point, however, when we could no longer ignore / the fact that we were addicted to poisoning everything that was vital to us. / food stopped growing in the tainted soil, the air itself became toxic, waters rose and cities fell / you would have thought with our taste for the electrifying harmony of discord / that we would have revelled in it, but it was all so different / when the show finally began. / there was no audience to witness it for we were all playing a part. / we were the ones on the stage, and the / epic tragedies being played out / were now our own lives. / -—-—-—-—-—-—-— / photo taken in juanita de brogas magnet middle school / more of my work is on www.abandonedamerica.org

Taken inside the danish art-museum of ARoS. The name comes from the old word for the city, Aarhus, where it is located – ‘Aros’ – and the latin word for art – ‘ars’. It’s an amazing structure – and if you’re ever in Denmark, I would definitely recommend a visit!

In the New Urban Environment of large acreage high development, every centimetre is a controlled surface, with the objective of symmetry and perfection. The eye is not allowed to see the slightest hint of natural anarchy, but nevertheless detects a total absence of connection with what lies beneath and beyond. And we keep it clean. And guarded. While shooting the building where these steps and stairs reside, from the footpath, I was approached by 2 security guards employed by the Jacksons Landing Community Association and asked what I was doing. Rather pointless really, given the large number of cameras which have filmed me while shooting my Urban Lines Project. They only had to watch their screens: Shot in RAW using a Canon EOS 10D and 28-90mm zoom lens at 70mm, ISO 100, f8, 1/125th of a second. ____ ____

From an old Nursery Rhyme Goosey, goosey, gander, / Whither shall I wander? / Upstairs, and downstairs, / And in my lady’s chamber. There I met an old man / Who wouldn’t say his prayers! / I took him by the left leg / And threw him down the stairs.
