  • The SS Dicky was washed ashore onto Dicky Beach in 1893 during a cyclone. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. / / The suburb and beach was named after the ship. The beach is an unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand, on Queensland’s magnificent Sunshine Coast. Taken with my 5D and 16-35mm lens and I was so lucky to have a nature spectacle as the fog rolled in from West creating a mystic ambience I have also written a photographers guide if you are interested in knowing more about this site

  • The Sea Venture was one of the first ships to arrive in Bermuda. It was thrown accidentally off course by a hurricane and landed on the reefs intact. Its original course was with a fleet from England headed towards / Jamestown, Virginia to aid in the colonization. From being shipwrecked, the crew and passengers of the Sea Venture settled in Bermuda and benefitted from its tropical paradise and set up a small colony. This painting is a Mixed Media piece, combining original digital photography taken in Bermuda by me SBC, with my painting, and drawings. It is intended to capture the natural and surreal beauty of Bermuda through my eyes. This art won an Honorable Mention Award in the Rowayton Art Show in 2006 and First Place in the Darien Art Show in 2007. It is presently being considered for exhibition at the Royal Navy Dockyard Museum in Bermuda. Thank you for your interest, comments and purchases!

  • This has all the things wrong with it…lens flare being the major problem, but it illustrates why I ended up so so wet….they sneak up when you’re looking through the viewfinder. scream up the beach at a hundred miles an hour and slap you across the back….. You can also see the way the sky changed….Dicky dawn was shot before the sun came up, and those dark clouds were behind us….they moved over quite quickly as the sun rose. • Impressionist, painterly / Two boys doing what they do best in the rain. Originally impressionism was that the colour should be dropped pure on the canvas rather than mixed on the palette. Today, now that we have so many new paints and mediums to work with, while the original concept of impressionism remains the same, styles and techniques have evolved. / My style of Impressionism embraces traditional painting. It is the evolution of impressionism that i am hoping to achieve, from the original traditional techniques of impressionist painting all the way to this modern impressionist digital art which can be stylized and painterly depending on my subject and mood. My work is hand painted digital painting and is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Digital painting differs from other forms of digital art, particularly computer-generated art, in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. The artist uses painting techniques to create the digital painting directly on the computer. / I create the painting, directly on my PC, by using a Wacom tablet, a stylus pen and ArtRage painting software. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is my paintbrush.

  • “And when the day arrives I’ll become the sky and I’ll become the sea and the sea will come to kiss me for I am going home. Nothing can stop me now.”’ Trent Reznor This image is a tribute to an old friend, Hilton Matthews, who so sadly died earlier this year. It is a gift for his wife, and my closest friend, Sarah. Hilton was a well known sailor on the Isle of Wight, and was one of the true characters of the Fishbourne Sailing Club. He weathered many storms during his life. He would have loved this one! The boat in the image is one which Hilton helped rescue when it ran aground on the rocks. The sky and the seas have been painted, using a variety of brushes in Photoshop CS4. 09/11/09 – 879 Viewings, 217 comments and 79 favourites. • This was inspired by the beautiful poem ‘By The Sea’ written by my wonderful friend Restlessd It immediately conjured up the music of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata On 25/11/2009 this image has had 881 views, / 189 comments and 66 favouritings Featured in / Art For The World / Digital Art Compilations / Jen and Erics Eyes* / MCN :: CBG75-QXBCY-WMQNY By The Sea The moon reflects its luminance / As I stand above the flowing waves. / The tide moves evenly in and out / White foam crashes into the caves. Sea oats whisper in the wind / A gull breaks the night with its cries. / I stand alone taking all this in / And a smile comes into my eyes. Darkness, darkness all around, / The sand so cool to my feet. / The music of the ocean near, / Yet, silence set in so deep. A motionless sky beacons to me / While streaming white stars say no. / So I will stay where I be, I’ll not disturb thee / For I really don’t want to go. Melting clouds drift all about / Just like ghosts beyond the sky. / Now and then there comes a call / As a sea bird soars on by. Away beyond the shoreline tide / A few lone ships fade and hide. / There they await the dawn / Knowing then their work is done. Ebbing, peaceful rhythms ever so near; / Quiet solitude engulfs me, / I am calm and I am happy here, / Walking in the night by the sea. _____ Several backgrounds were blended together in Photoshop CS4, and textures added. The beautiful girl was blended over several layers, some of them being blurred to give movement to her dress. The clouds and moonbeams were painted. I was pleased with the end result, so I really hope that you will like it. ______ Special thanks to the artists who so generously shared their stock… Girl / Gulls / Main background

  • I wanted to create a powerful and moody image, which told a dramatic story. In all my work, light plays an important part, and here it was essential for the drama inherent in the scene. On 25/11/09 this work has received 739 views. 232 comments and 68 favourites. I created this in Photoshop CS4 and it is a submission for a national photoshop contest. To create the scene, I merged together 5 images of seas from my own stock, and several skies . The figures in the image were created using models from unrestricted stock in the public domain. They were first copied, then traced over and painted in Photoshop, painting from dark to light. Areas of the sea and sky were also painted in this way. I have used two main textures which give a ‘painterly’ look, and the impression of age. Three colour fill layers were used to add depth and uniformity of colour to the image. The cliff, on the left hand side, is the start image for the contest. The image has been created totally in Photoshop, and all photos used (except the start image) were from my own photo stock. I hope that you like it. ! / MCN/C1URN_7XFKX_NGWVN Features / /
