Even ‘though Incognita completely agreed with Inky that patriotism is the last refuge of scoundrels… she just COULDN’T make herself nationalistic. “Oh well” she decided, “I’ll probably find some other way to cause trouble…”

Weekend T-Shirt Challenge – Agent Provocateur / Theme: Your vision of the future Myopia is an eye condition also called near- or short-sightedness. Those with myopia see nearby objects clearly but distant objects appear blurred. Sorry to be all doom and gloom, but I see myopia as a metaphor for the way we human animals see with little future foresight. When we look to science and it becomes so big and powerful that we see it first over nature as our path forward, then we begin to badly play at being gods. Then our future becomes most uncertain. Even one of greatest scientists Einstein conceded that humans needed a whole radically new form of thinking if we are to move forward and survive. And I tend to agree. The heart holds the capacity for compassion, nurturing and love. And we always look outside of ourselves. Pack your bags…the end is neigh!

I still watch her video as it reminds me who I really am.. Here is a bit about this amazing Doctor/woman and her website below. / / Jill Bolte Taylor: Neuroanatomist Brain researcher Jill Bolte Taylor studied her own stroke as it happened—and has become a powerful voice for brain recovery. / Why you should listen to her: One morning, a blood vessel in Jill Bolte Taylor’s brain exploded. As a brain scientist, she realized she had a ringside seat to her own stroke. She watched as her brain functions shut down one by one: motion, speech, memory, self-awareness … Amazed to find herself alive, Taylor spent eight years recovering her ability to think, walk and talk. She has become a spokesperson for stroke recovery and for the possibility of coming back from brain injury stronger than before. In her case, although the stroke damaged the left side of her brain, her recovery unleashed a torrent of creative energy from her right. From her home base in Indiana, she now travels the country on behalf of the Harvard Brain Bank as the “Singin’ Scientist.” “How many brain scientists have been able to study the brain from the inside out? I’ve gotten as much out of this experience of losing my left mind as I have in my entire academic career.” Jill Bolte Taylor

I noticed a crystal beginning to form on a wick, so I put it under a U.V. spotlight and took some macros. The only manipulation of this shot is severe colour correction since U.V. shows as a reddish/purple hue on everything.

Based on the experiment in which a human ear was attached to a mouse’s back perfomed in the laboratory of Dr. Charles Vacanti at the University of Massachusetts in 1997. The study was done at the suggestion of a plastic surgeon who was interested in developing techniques for attaching ears in children who had external ear deformities or had lost ears in accidents. It was designed to serve as a model for tissue engineering. The mouse used for the study had a defective immune system so it was unable to reject the human tissue. The entire construct was then implanted onto the back of the nude mouse. The mouse nourished the ear as the cartilage cells grew to replace the fiber. The mouse remained healthy and alive throughout. / . / . / My focus here with this tee is where is all this going? I know there are positives that at first seem to appear to be great…but with great power comes great responsibility…and i ain’t sure we have got that bit yet in respect to genetic engeneering kinda stuff us human animals.
