  • Once functional gears, now seized and rusted in place, forgotten and neglected. The beauty and texture of industrial decay is all around us, if you know where to look. This was taken at the Glenwood Power Station, in Yonkers, NY. / http://www.hudsonvalleyruins.org/

  • The SS Dicky was washed ashore onto Dicky Beach in 1893 during a cyclone. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. / / The suburb and beach was named after the ship. The beach is an unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand, on Queensland’s magnificent Sunshine Coast. Taken with my 5D and 16-35mm lens and I was so lucky to have a nature spectacle as the fog rolled in from West creating a mystic ambience I have also written a photographers guide if you are interested in knowing more about this site

  • it’s easy to only focus on the sadness inherent in an old derelict building like teton. / when you know the misery in the history of a asylum, and you see / only the ruins of what it once was, you sometimes become blinded / by the macabre and morose, by thwarted hopes and unchecked corruption. / if this is all you see – in an abandoned building, in your own life, in the world around you / it’s easy to feel that perhaps it would be best to erase it all, to hide everything away / so deep that it can’t encroach upon your fleeting comforts and contentment. / but, in this place where such terrible, tragic things occurred / there is something else that resides there – sometimes in the brilliant green ivy / that works its way into cracks and crevasses the way lovers’ fingers entwine, / sometimes in the softness of the wind, or the stillness of untouched afternoon sunlight – or / the way gravity welcomes the falling rafters back to the earth and time / absolves its past in the oblivion of unmolested sleep. teton had such beauty – in / the sincerely charitable ambitions that built it, in the graceful forms of its architect’s true design, / in the naive hope of the many who genuinely believed it could bring a cure for the ill, / and in those confined who stole friendships and dignity from the greedy hands of / disgrace and neglect. if you can’t see these things, you’ll never understand why i do what i do. / photographs capture slivers of time. they preserve a point of view, a moment / that would otherwise be forever lost. if you seek truth through them, / maybe you can illuminate the soul of a thing, and maybe show someone else / the proud glory and splendor of the forgotten and forsaken. / the triumphs and frailties of human endeavor may now be heard only in echoes, / but i guarantee you if you are quiet and you listen / you will hear not screams of agony and anguish, but the sweet serenity of final release. / if you approach the past with humility and reverence in your heart you’ll realize that / immortality is not something anyone can ever capture – but if you are very lucky, / through a photograph perhaps you may capture a glimpse, / a fleeting moment of something that, in its own abstract and inexplicable way, / proves beyond a doubt that nothing ever dies. / —-—-—-—-—-—-- photo taken at teton state hospital / more of my work is on www.abandonedamerica.org / please check out my new book, filled with photos and text – the link is on my site’s main page!

  • Fictional 13×18 cm / Acrylics & Gouache on black canvas I did this painting because I actually saw in my dream last night a crow. I took it from some place that I don’t remember. I was holding it with my hands and I do remember perfectly that in a weird moment I turn my head back and the crow was sleeping. It was the most strange thing I ever saw in my life – I remember I was watching the crow sleeping and breathing exactly like it was a human or even closer, I was feeling like I was watching a little puppy breathing. / ROUBLE — / / — For Sold! group: Sold a laminated print of this painting in a anonymous buyer. © All images copyright ROUBLE RUST / Spyridoula Bleta / All the images in this gallery are copyrighted, are NOT part of public domain & may not be reproduced, copied, edited, transmitted, uploaded, downloaded, or published in any way without my permission. • This is a very close up photorgraph of an old, rusting, decaying, steel, metal fence. / Water Lane / Leeds City Centre

  • / Between the greater-soul & fleshed reality are particles, the final tangible reaches of our thought, seeming like something singing out beyond the rugged tabletops of testable existence, & if we had eyes to see this outlandish world, we might see a swirling of mysterious cloudy forms, a blending of ourselves & our surroundings in a mystical dancing light, in salty jewels, our cloudy arms & hands would try to reach our cloudy chairs & sink & blend into a mad phantasmagoria… / We should be afraid until we learned that we were part of it, our bodies swirling clouds of atoms; but what’s important is that we would be seeing at the gate just beyond which is the home of Mystery, source of Soul, which is our truest life, our centrum… / Now where would we be if we stepped forward, through the gate, through the mysterious clouds of unknowing? / This makeshift shadowy world is a metaphor which is our chariot of choice, our light-inducting dark-proof vehicle ready to ride the road & river of space & time, to deliver us from evil, which is all that isn’t, in the vision of the cloud-bodied hungry soul, when it goes through the gate to the mystery of unanswering love.. / We see from there how all things flow outward toward wisdom, & back upon themselves toward joy, & that love is always answering, is the cloud formed into self, which is others & all, at once. E.M. Shorb We stand always on this side of the gate looking through to what is on the other side…it is light sometimes, it is dark at others…dare we go through?...in his brilliant poem Shorb says it for us.. • Fictional digital painting made with Photoshop. / Full view please Dear little doll series… / POLLY / EUGENIA / MUFFIE / VALERIE / TIFFANY Since this is my first attemp to paint digitaly I thought to share with you that I’m feelng a little weird … huh… correction: I’m feeling very weird. For accuracy, I feel like one of my characters – my eyes are wide open (out of anticipation for what will happen next); my brows draw together and my mouth is stretch horizontally (laughs). It’s like the fist time I did upload my first painting, excactly one year back. It’s a very big suprise to me. I’d never thought that I will ever paint digitally – really, it just came suddenly before 2 … I don’t quite remember exact maybe 3 nights. Anyway, I felt that I need a “break” from my beloved brushes, paints and canvases. The most imporant, I want to clear my mind a bit from the Halloween series calendar cause I’d hated to make something that it won’t be inspired and absolute authentic from me. So it may be ready far long after Halloween… laughs… maybe it will be ready in Christmas time xxx Back to that night ➪ Of course I ended up to make my office like a bombed place with charcoals, pastels… Water and ink running below my keyboard and on the floor… just imagine. / / The good from all this destruction is a little face I did, a totally scarp face but I did love it from the first moment ♥ (and it looks like me too :) So much that I couldn’t leave it in the mess that was! Here you can see it: / ☯ So concluding, all the dollies of this series are based in this little one scrap face, always in the same position but each one of them has a different personality. All the names of the dollies are names from existing famous dolls. Ok I will stop talking now, / I’m leaving you view my work and I really hope you like it.
