  Geez, lately …. i just can’t get rainbows out of my head…....so I’ve been doing lots of them, you’ve probably noticed….. there’s a message in that….. just HOPE / Hopefully, the rainbows bring more HOPE and more thinking about HOPE…. often I find I lose hope…so this influx of rainbows is as much for me as anything….i think i’m very focussed on them right now, because it’s so easy to lose sight of hope, and Christmas is a time to refocus on that which brings hope to ourselves, and gives hope and spreads a light to others i guess….. Anyways… enough rambling….did you make it this far.?? thank you if you did…..   There is a brand new initiative coming from the great creative brain of Red Bubble’s Jo O’Brien who has begun a chain of interviews, dedicated to spreading the love and creativity. The fire was first fanned into flame by one of our most dearest bubbly people and friend, the wondrously musically and arty farty Muscular Teeth Now, Mr Teethy and I had a little conflict of interest at first over who would ask Frozenfa to do her interview…..since we’re both big fans of hers…..but I won out of course….being superquick with the bmail clickety click…and got to her first….phew…!!! Not that it matters, coz I think that lots of you are going to get the opportunity to share your hearts and arts with us…..and we are looking forward to hearing from you each and everyone, getting to know more about you, what makes you tickety tock and what makes you rock!!!! My interview with Fa is one of two that I’ll be journalling, so stay tuned as you may be next in line!! enough chit-chat…...read on…......................... Let’s Focus On….....FROZENFA interview with Karin / (Fa, tell us puleeze, what makes you tickety tock and what makes you rock?) / / aw, look…it’s baby fa….isn’t she adorable!! How does being a creative person and pursuing your creativity affect other aspects of your life? After i finally left the corporate world, i decide to venture into doing my tees and designs full time a.k.a. going jobless. Almost everyone says i’m being crazy and that i’ll end up being a free loader and won’t make it anywhere. i get people telling me left right center, about how tough it’s going to be.. or how shitty the world is out there and basically just assuming that i’d turn into a starving artist. my family too didn’t believe in me. but i did get a moral support from 1 friend then, Serena. and with just that 1 person believing in me, i just went ahead to live my life, my way. I no longer meet up with my friends unless they ask me out, which is always for a reason or another or they just feel obliged to. some thought am becoming a hermit. i’d say i’ve gotten to know so many more interesting people around the world in this 6mths.. From awesome photographers to cool writers to amazing painters.. i got introduced to PixelTerminator by Buddy Sears ... i get to do a collaboration design with Karin.. i got to meet Cvail73 when she’s here on holiday.. and just met a new bubbler, udonchow just now, who’s back to renew her visa.. and i think i’ll be meeting Krisso during his stopover to sg on his way to london.. hehe.. XD Since i’m “jobless”, i have more time to spend at home. i get to do the sweeping and moping the floor and making sure to dry the laundry and be ready to help my mum when she comes home. i am happy cos i get to spend more time with my family and be more helpful and useful to them. I am soo much more happier now. all the depression and being forced to do work i’m not interested in and having to deal with annoying people is over.. i can do my own work at my own pace.. i can draw what i want to draw, express what i want to express. and no, i am not a free loader! i live off my savings. no i am not from a rich family, everyone in my family just knows how to spend only when necessary, we don’t have air conditioner nor sofas at home! and no i am not rich, else i would have a physical shop by now. no i am not starving artist, i am still fat! errr.. dang.. ok fine, i need to exercise more.. (Tim: ROFL!!!) grrr… But you can call me struggling artist, yesh, i can accept that! =) am still struggling to find my own printers and working towards opening my own mini booth at a local market.. Tell us about one person or moment that has made your time on redbubble particularly special or meaningful Back during my early days at work, i was made to believe that i wasn’t creative enough and that all my designs are below standards. Back then, i believe that i’m not creative and am a lousy designer. with RSI and depression, honestly i thought i’d forever live in the shadow of other people.. But everything changes when i join RB!! i’d say the one person that i’m truly madly deeply hehehe thankful to i’ve met is Karin! Yesh, the big shining star in RB, Karin Taylor !! if you don’t know her, then you must be either new to RB or been really inactive here.. hehehe.. XD How special is she? as if you don’t know!! Oo” / Well you can check out our mushy tribute to each other here at her journal here... ehehe.. Basically, she’s been most encouraging and supportive of me and my crazy designs.. Heck, can you believe it, she’d even listen to me whining about silly non design related problems through bmail? i always feel so bad taking up her time sometimes with my whinings, but she’s always so encouraging and listening.. i am very thankful for that. Karin also turns out to be my VERY FIRST buyer (she kept it a secret until i started making other sales slowly but surely). hehe.. i received a birthday present all the way from overseas for the first time ever in my life from her too! and a bday card.. haven’t got a bday card in awhile.. Bday truly would have suck this year if it weren’t for her.. and this is what really moved me most. i will admit, that really made me cry!! A fabulous interview giving a ‘behind the scenes’ look at Fa’s life, her values, and i think it gives a little insight into just how special a person she is, someone who has a heart full of courage, depth of feeling, and I think she is what they call an old soul with a heart that’s so big and swelling with love….send some love her way peoples, and visit her bubble today…you won’t be disappointed i promise :D You may wanna buy some of her art, coz i think she’s gonna be real famous soon!!!! Fa will pass on the love, by requesting two more bubblers whom she admires and respects to do interviews with her, and journalling it…..this way we all learn so much more about one another, as well as being introduced to other artists through the five….. Two Latest Designs sold (with many thanx) to beautiful fellow bubblebees Firstly, last night some time Liesl Yvette Wilson an aussie artist living in London who does gorgeous children’s illustrations (please pay her a visit !!) purchased my latest Kokeshi Doll Autumn TShirt: ...and NEXTLY, SalsBells69 a fellow bubblebee and wonderful photographer from Australia, purchased my other latest tee design Fantasy Island Retro TShirt: I have been really down lately, and these two sales have boosted my spirits enormously, a very big thank you to my two special buyers Leisl and Sal :) thanx guys! _________ NEX BIT OF NEWS * ( / i see you’re still here, thanx so much for hangin’ round for next bit) / ________ Hi fellow bubblebees, I joined red bubble community on or around about the 7th February 2008 (near on 10 weeks ago) i think :) i never know what today’s date is even tho it’s apparently right here on my computer screen…i am really a computer illiterate in many many ways (sh don’t tell anyone that lol) – my friend frozenfa knows this only too well :) Just me with a special update…for a while now I’ve ummed and ahhhed as to whether to share or not about sales and figures…when i first started bubbling i was so excited i couldn’t help but share good news…but as time’s gone by, I’ve noticed the ups and downs emotionally that we all go through over the good and bad times. I think all of us struggle terribly when no-one’s buying our work, and I’ve had an immense struggle with it myself. When no-one’s buying you think, okay, it’s all over bar the shout, i’m finished, i’m washed up, i wanna get out of this cruel game which is a roller coaster ride to say the least I’ve watched friends many times feel despairing, and I know that feeling so well. So sometimes sharing about sales and views can crush someone else’s spirit, or it can spur them on to become more and more determined to win the big prize :) I feel seeing someone else’s success does both these things to me. I’m not sure how the rest of you are going with your sales and progress, i’m told some even make close to a living from selling their work here…...I’m far from that goal ….. but we must continue to encourage one another all the more if some are feeling low and flailing, there are so many wonderful artists here, and i see they have no comments on their work, or just one and i wonder why is that? I have been so encouraged by this wonderful community and the warm sentiments fill my heart with joy and put a spring in my step, i can assure you all of that :) and I wanted to say thank you to everyone for being like, my extended family of brothers and sisters :) Anyway, I’ve been keeping quiet about sales and views for a while…..i wonder whether if you’re doing well..people will drop you off their watchlist….or if you’re doing not so well, people let you go anyway, i really don’t know…. But i try to be honest about who i am, so i’ve decided to lay it on the table today….and here are my stats :) Ten Weeks on Red Bubble art views 25,045 / clothing views 7,350 card sales 25 / tshirt sales 12 / _print sales _ 1 total sales* 38 translated $$$’s $163.48 ________ FINALE _ (if you’re still awake and stuck with me til this / point, i must applaud and congratulate and send you / big hugs and thanx :)_ ________ I’ve been very busy lately, as i was commissioned by some folks in United States to create some designs for a business proposal…don’t think i can say much more than that…but stay tuned as it could turn into something big….and that would be very cool :) thanks for listening to my guff everyone, love yas all :) big hugs from Karin xo

  Hello to all….. I have been doing some thinking – dead silence fills the auditorium, and everyone rolls their eyes….uh oh….lol!!! oh no, she’s been thinking again!!! Yes!! I have, and my idea is this…I am gonna put forth a weekly journal called Karin’s Weekly instead of all the little journals….in it i will put any sales and any news…rather like a blog….. It will save a bit of time for myself, and hopefully for you, as you won’t have loads of journals to check out popping up in your activities list from me, just the one every now and then, with as much juicy stuff as i can squish out!! :D —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-— KARIN’S WEEKLY ISSUE ONE Sales Update Thnx so much to the following people for these purchases: 1.   Hello everyone in the Land of Bubbles I’m a little bit late this week with the news bloggy thingo, so it’s 9 days stuffed into 7 tadaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Anyways, your bubbly friend is now back, after a self-imposed absence, having at first lost her buoyancy, some more bubbles have now taken up residence and I am in floating mode once again… Thank you so much for your kindness and understanding while i was away, it was a tough time. I am reporting in on sales, features and other news. Feels a bit tacky doing this, but what the heck… The week started off slow and ended with a real bang, selling 19 cards in the last two days!! The first card buyer was iAN Derrick a wonderful writer and character from the Tweed…hailing from the area I grew up in…thank you so much mate!! Not only has iAN purchased some cards, but he has written a terrific story sparked by my father’s (Clarkie) antics… it’s a ‘must read’ short story called Understanding Harry Do have a read of it, it’s terrific! (iAN bought 4 cards of Stargazer in one hit! and he’s using them as Xmas cards!!!) / What a wonderful idea iAN! The second card buyer i would like to thank profusely is the lovely Karen Anderson who plans to frame some of the 15 cards she bought from me in one go her children’s rooms!! Karen is currently living in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia but her home base is Brisbane i believe. My art will be on display at the Chill Cafe opposite Manly Art Gallery for the month of September! Exhibition opens tomorrow!! Also, you may have noticed I am stamping your work left, right and centre with some new affirmations, rather than giving my usual comments…i hope you like them and don’t mind. They save me some time and energy, and put a bit of snazziness into my beat, which has been missing a little lately. As energy returns, i’ll probably add more words to accompany the stamps :D Thx for your understanding …... ...and finally a HUGE thanx to the very kind people that helped me out so much over the past week, i think you’ll know who you are….i give you my biggest STAR stamp of all, for your love and concern, advice and warm wishes has meant more to me than words could ever express. Inthe words of the song…. ‘life is short but you’re here to flower – not much point in being sour’... lol Today is really like Show and Tell at school for me, you know how you’d carefully pack your treasured goodies into your backpack (or in my day i had a daggy school port) lol ….you would have butterflies in your tummy about sharing your news…coz you knew you had something special to share with everyone, but at the same time, felt awkward and uneasy… well, i’ve been saving this news since yesterday, coz i didn’t know how to go about it really… Some amazing mystery person has bought 18 things from my shop in one go! I think that’s the total number….17 cards + 1 tshirt…..my eyes were literally popping when i found out….. It’s such a shame i can’t thank you personally as well, but i do hope you see this journal, and know how much i appreciate those sales! Thank you!!   Today i got two more surprises!!! Firstly my new dear sweet bubble friend udonchow purchased my Hidden Treasure card from my ! and I thank you so much udonchow, i hope you will really like it very much! Secondly a dear old friend i used to play with when i was a young girl has reappeared into my life again through Facebook, her name is Priscilla (or Pris for short) and we both had fathers in the Police….we used to dance ourselves silly to Abba….lol….well, today Pris purchased Little Green Teapot long sleeved tee from my ....and i am really tickled pink!!!!   Hi There, I’ve just had my two week anniversary on red bubble! / In case anyone is interested this is my case history so far: I’ve made heaps of mistakes! / I’ve learnt a helluvalot! / I’ve uploaded 66 of my best images! / I’ve sold 8 cards and 1 tshirt! / I’ve chocked up 5,000 views! / I’ve had my 3 paintings featured! / One on the Art Page! / Two on the Home Page! / I’ve met stacks of fantastic folks on RB! / I’ve become part of a community! / I’m totally knackered and need to get some sleep! / I’ve seen more amazing art from other RB’ers than I’ve ever seen in all the art galleries I’ve ever visited in person! / I’ve approached umpteen galleries and had 1 positive response, hundreds of nothings, and tens of rejections! / I’ve created a pamphlet to advertise myself in a pamphlet drop in my local area! / I’ve created a new business card to include Red Bubble’s addy. / I’ve created a three page order form to snail mail to potentials for wholesale / Yup, all in the last 2 weeks…..not to mention ….I’m a mum with 2 kids, a hubby and a busy lifestyle…....enough said…..haven’t done any painting in two whole weeks!!!!!!! Time to head into the cave….only have 16 more pieces to upload, then I’m back in the studio creating more art…..and you’ll only see me stick my head up from time to time as a new piece comes to life….. Meanwhile, I’ll take the opp to say a huge thanx to everyone here….especially those special few who have been angels to me when I needed help…..and those who’ve gone outa there way with special encouragements….down to those who are so cheerful and funny and just make my day with a big belly laugh…...good on yas all! / Keep up the fantastic art…..and / I’ll see yas all tomoz on RB..
