  • We were vacationing in Iran and there were these mausoleums and tombs in tribute to great poets, architecture reminiscent of old Islam and gorgeous tiles and organic paintings on the walls. This shot was almost unintentional, I noticed the light and the shadows and just took the shot, this one shot. I didn’t even look at it on the digital screen of my camera, there was so much beauty around me I didn’t want to waste time, I didn’t want to miss anything. I didn’t see this shot again till I uploaded the pictures onto my laptop. This picture is a reminder of the beauty of Iran.

  • While we were roadtripping through New England one of our first stops was in Essex, Connecticut. The season was fall and our intention was to take in the wonders of nature, enjoy the fall foilage. In Essex we bought tickets for the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat. When we got to the ticket counter it turned out that the train had been reserved for a private party and not open to the public on that day but since it was just the two of us ( my husband and I) they said they would give us a private car. If you still haven’t figured it out well the private car looked like what you see above. It had this antique feel about it, reminded me of a time when these trains were the means of tranportation, nothing like the trains we have today. And then every once in a while the steam train would let out a tut. It was enchanting. The blue of the chairs so cool, so lush, the sun streaming in. A perfect stop on what turned into a perfect trip. / Sitting the old Fashioned Way

  • The first impressionists took advantage of the introduction of premixed paints in tubes where paint is laid on an area of the surface very thickly, usually thickly enough that the brush or painting-knife strokes are visible. / Characteristics of impressionist paintings include visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on light in its changing qualities effecting colour, the inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception, and unusual visual angles. / Short, thick strokes of paint are used to quickly capture the essence of the subject, rather than its details. The paint is often applied impasto. / Colours are applied side-by-side with as little mixing as possible, creating a vibrant surface. The optical mixing of colours occurs in the eye of the viewer. / My form of impressionism starts with digital photography and I then develop this into my own art form and exploit the aspects of the digital painting medium embracing and showing the painterly aspect, rather than trying to hide the act of creation. My work is hand painted digital painting and is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Digital painting differs from other forms of digital art, particularly computer-generated art, in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. The artist uses painting techniques to create the digital painting directly on the computer. / I create the painting, directly on my PC, by using a Wacom tablet, a stylus pen and ArtRage painting software. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is my paintbrush.

  • I Am I am calling to you from afar; / Calling to you since the very beginning of days. / Calling to you across millennia, / For aeons of time- / Calling-calling. Since always. It is part of your being, my voice, / But it comes to you faintly and you only hear it sometimes; / “I don’t know,” you may say. / But somewhere you know. / “I can’t hear,” you say, “what is it and where?” / But somewhere you hear, and deep down you know. / For I am that in you which has been always; / I am that in you which will never end. Even if you say, “Who is calling?” / Even if you think, “Who is that?” / Where will you run? Just tell me. / Can you run away from yourself? For I am the Only One for you; / There is no other, / Your Promise, your Reward am I alone- / Your Punishment, your longing / And your Goal. / -Anonymous Image copyright © 2009 Shanina Conway. / Copying and displaying or redistribution of this image without permission from the artist is strictly prohibited

  • Acrylic on canvas. For anyone who is struggling today as I am…God, help us to persevere. This is my prayer today. Hebrews 10:35-39 So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, “He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.” But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved. Hebrews Chapter 10

  • Sales of this design so far = 3 sales / / / / original drawing / Two little japanese kokeshi’s contemplating life in the garden. Perhaps the older girl is the little one’s mother or sister, perhaps she is sensei passing down instructions on how to tend the flowers. The little one wears a floral kimono in keeping with the theme. A pencil drawing on paper coloured digitally.

  • / / / original pencil drawing ...stayed up very late drawing “Nature’s Child”... you know when it’s time for a baby to be born, i think it’s very similar with art… the inspiration just comes when it’s ready…and sometimes that means drawing til 3am like i did with this one. ...the drawing took about 3 hours, and the digital colouring took about 5 hours today. ...inspired by some fantastic eyes i’ve seen lately, (drawn by people on RB) and the dear little willy wagtails…they are so cheeky…they aren’t authentic in colour here, because they are always black and white with little markings above the eye…but i have put their essence into the work hopefully. I think this is my favourite so far :) /

  • / / “Beach Picnic” is a pencil drawing which I’ve coloured digitally, I hope you like this image with mother and daughter in similar sundresses. As a child we enjoyed beach picnics all the time, mum would make us special fried chicken (better than Kentucky Fried) and we would go out on the boat to a little island, where i would play with soldier crabs for hours on end, while dad fished and mum sunbaked… they were wonderful times. We also went on the annual Beach Picnic to Bonny Hills with the church and we were great friends with the priest back in those days who was a top water skier.. We would see so many things at Bonny Hills, sea snakes slithered past in the creek where we were swimming and there were amazing white clay deposits in the sand….hours of fun were had by all… not to mention we even had a little mass there… top fun :)

  • / Half coloured, thank you to gottheshot friend and fellow bubbler for the idea! / I have also a softer pink version, I would really appreciate some feedback as to which version you like the best, thank you :) / / / Original drawing, please note the actual rainbow that appeared on the drawing from light coming in through the trees outside the window of my studio, hence her name…. Bramble Rainbowtree…. she throws her arms skyward reaching to the heavens above… spots, stripes, flowers and streamers are added to convey the celebration and joyfulness in her spontaneous gesture…. ...Little Bramble Rainbowtree began as a little pencil drawing inspired by my beautiful niece Maya, who has the longest hair ever! This so reminds me of her, except that Maya’s hair is much more beautiful and much darker in colour. ...I have coloured Bramble Rainbowtree digitally, I hope you like this special fairy :) ...a great little vintage design for big and little girls, friends, birthdays, gifts, bedroom decor, nursery walls, etc.
