Acrylic on canvas 1m x 1m / 2005 (original Sold) This painting is about women…being one myself…I found the inspiration to paint that feeling of hiding in plain sight. Where it can feel easier to sink into the background…keeping the inner self hidden…..from harm…from risks….from the world. / But ..really…wanting to bring that hidden woman out to the surface..not be afraid.. but just be.
acrylic painting
Kristy Lee wrote this… Mermaid - On water’s edge she pauses / Transcends all thought and form / In heavens arms she wavers / Before the brink of dawn This woman of the ocean / Who knows no thought but this / The cool, the clear, the sea foam / The rolling waves of bliss A moment in the moonlight / Spent gazing at the sky / Is cast away towards the deep / Where her sleeping sisters lie And in her wake / She leaves no trace / That you or I could find / A wave, a splash, a ripple / A silence in your mind go here to read more of her fabulous poetry.. http://www.redbubble.com/people/misskristy

A portrait of my daughter, Jessica, painted in Pastel. We dressed her in a gown that had been my Mother’s and tried to replicate the era with her hairstyle, makeup and jewelry. This was painted with soft pastels on Canson paper which was a brown color. Hard pastel and pastel pencils were used sparingly where fine lines and details werre needed. 24”x18”
One day, not that long ago, she appeared out of the raw canvas and she was very welcome!
Watercolor and pencil on illustration board, / 10×8 / 2009 Model: Adhara Batul One of the Greek myths I adore the most, for its incredible strength, poetry and significance, is the myth of Persephone. In Greek mythology, Persephone was the goddess of the underworld and of the Spring growth. Daughter of Demeter, goddess of the harvest, she was abducted by Hades and taken to the land of the dead. By a determination of the Fates, she was forced to stay for two seasons each year after eating pomegranates seeds, thus becoming consort of Hades and queen of the underworld. This time I opted by depicting her sorrow and solitude after having the seeds, although there’s quite an air of resignation with her destiny.

Painting by Dorina Costras / Acrylic on canvas / 54/58 cm / Original for sale __________ “The leaves grown dark / By the autumn wind fall / Cover the ground, / Cover your body, / The wrapping of your being / That hides your true ego. / The warm dew of your eyes flows, / Nothing is there to wait for her, / It gets lost in the void, / Nothing needs their torpor. / Glitter in the sun / That passes through your body / And immerses it in candid dazzle, / The night is coming, the Orient is dancing, / Whirling in his veils, voluptuous dance / Wraps the world. / .And the wood that contains you, / Oh my goddess. And all is mystery, / Possible enigma, incomprehensible fear.” Gothica – The Pure Nymph lyrics
