Sydney is not only blessed by a beautiful coastline providing us with countless beaches, but also some of these beaches have a “rock pool” at the headland. These rock pools provide a great place for the locals to take a dip in the ocean without the waves. This image was taken @ Port Willunga at the remains of the old jetty. On a recent journey back to Port Willunga recently, I’d noticed that many of these posts had been burnt. Last Sunday I wend down to Sculpture By The Sea at Bondi Beach. The sky was amazing. It rained all the way down in the car (at 5am) then stopped as I parked. The clouds threatened rain for the 90 min I was taking photos, but then just as I was getting ready to go, a window opened up in the clouds and beautiful golden light streamed over the sculptures. The dark threatening clouds made the perfect backdrop. This image is a 3 shot HDR image. I printed this image up and it looks great in my hall… It has become one of my favorites.

The SS Dicky was washed ashore onto Dicky Beach in 1893 during a cyclone. It was re-floated, but again, heavy seas turned the ship about and back onto the sand where it remains to this day. / / The suburb and beach was named after the ship. The beach is an unspoilt stretch of sun-drenched sand, on Queensland’s magnificent Sunshine Coast. Taken with my 5D and 16-35mm lens and I was so lucky to have a nature spectacle as the fog rolled in from West creating a mystic ambience I have also written a photographers guide if you are interested in knowing more about this site

Surfing just before dawn. The water color comes from the dawn light reflecting off high clouds in the sky. Canon 1Ds Mark II / 600 mm focal length / 1/15 second / f/4 / ISO 50 Panning and trying to keep the surfer in one spot in the frame produces the fluidity and quality to the water.

Summer Breeze a beautiful poem by the same title by a dear friend of mine Anne Van Alkemade / Inspired by the song Summer Breeze / by Seals and Croft Also inspired by myself and my experience of having bugs and insects come to try and take up residence in my ears… scrabbling around in there, getting all comfy…while I’m going crazy…click beetles, houseflies and spiders so far have all tried this… lol This is a girl who has an affinity with nature, and as the summer breezes begin to blow here in Australia…....the animals are drawn to live in her hair thinking that it must be branches of a tree… yes, my hair’s that dry… :) I thought it a fitting one for summer, hope you like her… Pencil drawing took me about 3 hours / Digital colouring – 10 hours / Total time 13 hours
