  • A few days ago Shelly Hiebert asked for us to post a self-portrait, so that we can emerge from behind the camera and others can learn a little more about the shooter. Well, I learnt how incredibly difficult it is to take a decent self-portrait. I think I finally got one I don’t mind sharing, it depicts a day in my life that will haunt me forever. Taken with Nikon D300, Sigma 28mm f/2.8 MF lens and SB800. If you would like to participate in this challenge, please follow this link

  • I was shooting pleasure craft in dry dock for repairs. I spotted this repeating pattern along the side of one boat – it appeared to be the effect of salt spray permanently marking the side. I used a 60mm macro to get this super closeup of a very small area. NIkon D80 Nikon 60mm macro on tripod 1/200s f/10 /

  • Photomanipulation See it in full-size on my portfolio here This creation is in no way meant to offend anyone. I’m not religious at all, but I was toying with this idea in my head and this is the final outcome. This art consists of over ten different photos merged together. All photos, except for the old man, belongs to me and have been photographed with a Nikon D100. On top of that alot of editing has been made such as the rays, the sea, clouds, waves, the hand with the flower. With that said, the stock-image of the old man can be found here. All credit for that goes to “skydancer-stock” at deviantArt. It’s quite modified though. Comments or critics are appreciated!

  • Life goes on, down by the river. Folks are peacefully mingling about the World Trade Center complex. I imagine this must have been just like this on Sept. 10th, 2001. Oddly enough, if you look really close at the left side of this image, (at the second set of palm tree trunks inside the building), does it not appear as if one of the towers is kicking out a white cloud and above the cloud it appears to be crumbling? Crap, not sure that I can leave this posted now, I just can’t bear watching images of the towers pancaking and coming down …. Taken with Nikon D200 and Nikkor 24-120mm lens. HDR image created from single RAW image using ReDynaMix. / Best viewed in Large for sure! This image is currently on display at the Walls Fine Art gallery in Downtown Norfolk, VA. Price here closely matches gallery price.

  • Dumpster – Best viewed LARGER. I love the hidden colors that only emerge when you get in close with a macro. I was shooting this on a Saturday afternoon, trying to be inconspicuous about hanging around a mall dumpster but no such luck. A homeless man wanted to know what I was doing, got intrigued, and finally asked me for money. Then a middle aged guy walking home with his groceries looked at me in stunned amazement – “what the heck are you doing?” – Oh, just taking some photos I said nonchalantly … with a look of pity he shook his head and walked off saying “to each his own”... /
