This door handle was photographed in the Turkish town of Beypazari, settled in the hills of the Central Anatolian plateau. The town is full of centuries-old wooden Ottoman houses, some restored and some still in their original state. Many of them, such as this house, are still in use. This door obviously hasn’t seen any restoration work, but to me the faded paint and decaying wood only add to its fascination.

A boardwalk descending into the valley in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, July 2008. I spend a lot of time walking around this city. There are so mant beautiful things to see. This is one of my routes. The lighting was perfect that evening. This image was combined and adjusted with Photomatix from 5 exposers with one stop difference between shots.

On the streets of downtown Sao Paulo, Brazil in the early 80’s. In this busy business district business people and shoppers intermingle and go about their day. Many also stop to have their shoes shined while relaxing and reading the newspaper or to buy goods, like at this produce stand. Image of this downtown market made into an art piece via Photoshop CS2’s “watercolor” filter. Would make a fine wall art piece.

The river valley in edmonton, alberta, canada. Tried to create a hyper real effect by pushing the raw setting. It gives it a simulated HDR feel. I also applied an Orton type effect to it after converting to black and white, I think this is representative of winter in the capital city.

Taken near the town of Springfontein "Springfontein is an important railway junction. The lines from Port Elizabeth and East London to Gauteng converge here while another line runs west to the diamond-producing town of Koffiefontein via Jagersfontein and Fauresmith. The town derives its name from a strong artesian spring on the farm Springfontein. Hartleydale, part of this farm, was chosen as the site for the new village in 1904. Municipal status was granted in 1912. Springfontein is situated 150km south-west of Bloemfontein on the N1. This towns history relates directly to the struggle, and especially to the hardships, of the Anglo-Boer War. Concentration Camp / This concentration camp was situated east of the town. During 1901 it was hit by a heavy snowstorm and many of the tents were damaged. Due to the severe winter the death rate were high in the camp. A total of 704 people, mainly children, died in the concentration camp.
