I just can’t seem to get off of this whole lollipop theme. I think it embodies the whole “magic of childhood” theme I am always reaching for. The girls certainly enjoyed modeling when I handed them the lollipops. LOL!!! Anyways, I wanted to create an atique-ish looking image, but still have a sort of fantasy / surreal look to it. I changed the girls photos to black and white, then added the color back in to give it a muted, vintage feel. This, not only looks beautiful as a print, but it makes a lovely “motivational” sort of greeting card for someone who either needs lifted up, encouraged, or congratulated. Thanks for checking this one out.

The shoot was titled “Clash” as the model wore strips, spots and many other items of clothing that clashed with each other to create an interesting effect. To further add to this otherwise fairly standard modeling shot, i applied a texture layer to the photograph and made it all sepia to give it a strange overall finish.

Glimpses of grasses, shifting color in the wind. This work is a one of a kind woodcut monoprint on 16.5×25” paper. Marks were carved into wood pieces, which were then inked, arranged and run through a press. This piece has 4 layers. Here it is arranged with 4 additional vignettes, printed from sections of the same blocks.

Hello there! So a few people have asked me lately how my work is created and what processes i go through to create it. Here is a little insight into how I work… for those that are interested. If you’re not, here are some alpaca facts xx Tools: / Photoshop CS (yeah i’m a bit behind the times..!) / illustrator CS / nikon coolpix S560 / Wacom graphics tablet / Canon scanner Process: / An idea for a piece usually starts with spotting something in a magazine, book, or online that inspires me… sometimes it’s nothing like what i end up with but inspiration is a fascinating thing, the way it can spark up your brain in a completely un-related way. With this particular piece i was inspired by bat for lashes ‘what’s a girl to do’ film clip, as well as a picture in a magazine i saw of a girl with a box for a head..and being an extreme cat lover… the rest just kind of came together! Sometimes I sketch something out by hand and scan it in, but usually I sketch straight onto my wacom in either photoshop or illustrator. Then once I’ve got my sketched base, i begin adding textures; old paper, watercolour wisps, painted or ink splatters etc. Some are stock shots others I’ve created and scanned myself using watercolours, acrylics and different kinds of paper/canvas/fabric etc. I layer everything up in photoshop and constantly move things around, subtract and add for quite some time (being a virgo, perfectionist, this is often longer that i’d like to admit!) Then when I’m somewhat happy with the layout I walk away from it for a period of no less than 15 mins, then come back and look at it, trying to see it as an objective art piece rather than a creation close to my heart. This is often the stage when I take off that element I wasn’t sure about…..I’m trying to embrace less is more lately! I’m fascinated by art pieces where it’s all about what you DON’T see that paints the picture and conveys the story. Other little extras I don’t think my studio could do without: / Tea with generous milk splash / a good itunes playlist [including florence and the machine, imogen heap, death cab for cutie, the whitest boy alive, bat for lashes, feist, bertie blackman] / figure drawing reference books I hope this little blurb has been interesting for some of you! I personally love reading how other artists create their work so I hope there are some that can take something from this! Merry Christmas fellow bubblers xx ♫ ♥ xx tiffatron ps – how great are alpacas?!
I like the movie “Silk” (by Chao-Bin Su) very well. It deals with a similar cube. In my version, flooded with light, I let “him” go… Who knows the movie knows what I mean.. ALL my abstract works of art are mostley done intuitively; I am affected and inspired by music; no painting is done without music; music is inalienable. please see my profile/site… results with / done with Bryce 6.1/PS etc..
this work was inspired/result by this song: / Encaustic on encaustic paper.
