Taken as part of a collaboration with Daniel Rarela. He has written a beautiful piece about sexuality and the church, called If Forever Is Denied Daniel explains: / Even if God won’t ever allow to give my heart to any man other than Jesus… I consider it one of His greatest mercies that there will always be music, and there will always be dance. And when the beat is right, all prejudices, hatred, and all around negativity just seem to melt away once you get on the floor. Let’s keep dancing! This image is one of many buildings lit up as part of the 2008 Adelaide Festival. After 9pm the lights come on transforming the building into a personality! The facade reminds me of how individual we can be.

I was in New York recently on business and managed to find a little time to wander around. I walked up to Rockefeller Center and took some shots. Unfortunately I didn’t have a tripod so the night shots were a little difficult, but I did manage to get this one of Radio City Music Hall. I really like the Deco feeling of this shot. I wish there had been just a bit more steam or fog. The shot was originally in color, and while the signage looked nice I think the black & white makes a better image. I did some minor dodging and burning to darken some of the darker areas a little more and lighten some of the lighter areas. I added a platinum tint and some film grain. Imagine being born again. Only this time your mother is the earth and you come fully equipped with memories, knowledge and a belief system. What raw emotions are evoked when the first thing you are confronted with is an environment completely foreign to what you were expecting? / Fear, confusion, doubt and loneliness. / Or because of the new environment one may lose their inhibitions, feel joy or perhaps discover inner strength and courage. Maybe the nine images are a true metaphorical reflection of the artists soul? / His background and love for the stage and theatre. / His longing to find true love and a wanting audience. / The ongoing battle of time and money between industry and creative / fulfilment. / Born from this earth, the series, everyone deserves a new beginning, a chance to start over. / / All amongst us who have had the chance to liase, work or just chat with John Robb are always left with the impression that you have met a unique, warm and generous human being. / More so, a master of his craft, check out his own portfolio. / Thank you John for your patience and willingness to get this shot right! / / The Aradale weekend was a huge success and I thouroughly enjoyed spending time with like-minded souls. / Massive thanks to the following for your muse, inspiration and collaboration… / Kara Rasmanis / Jenny Hall / John Robb / Matt Allan from Disenchanted / Melissa Kirkham / Jo O’Brien / James Price / Michael Alesich / Lucky Vegetable / khelltic / Bronwen Hyde / Karen / / / / / Art Folders… / / Entire Portfolio / Born From This Earth – Series / Hearts At War / Vehicular works / Architecture / Travel / B&W Photography / Transitional Industrial Utopian Series / Abstract / Models and Fashion Photography
This was taken at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. It is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. This is probably the most different photo I have submitted in a long time. I spend most of my photographing time in the mountains 300 miles from my home. I live less than an hour from L.A. but I rarely venture there. There was an art festival going on and it sounded fun so I went.
/ . / The State Theatre is without doubt a truly magnificent and unique building. / Its importance has been recognised by The National Trust of Australia that has classified it as “a building of great historical significance and high architectural quality, the preservation of which is regarded as essential to our heritage”. / Alongside other Sydney icons, the State Theatre occupies a magical place in the hearts and minds of generations of its patrons. For over 70 years it has enchanted and captivated all those who have used and continue to use its surroundings and facilities.

Hamer Hall, part of the Victorian Arts Centre complex in Melbourne, Australia, is best known for its soaring spire, which features in so many of the city’s classic skyscape shots. But I shot this at ground level in 2007. I was actually walking to Southbank from Flinders Street Station and the contrasting colours caught my eye. Because I was in a hurry, I shot only one frame. The giant ``windows’’ show pools of colour which are actually caused by the soft lighting in the walkway. Shot without a tripod. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F4.5, 1/8 sec, ISO 800, focal length 50mm. Featured in POST CARD STYLE, May 2009. Featured in ABSTRACT REALISM group, June 2009.
