[Origin: 1200–50; ME dreem, OE dréam joy, mirth, gladness, c. OS dr?m mirth, dream, ON draumr, OHG troum dream; modern sense first recorded in ME but presumably also current in OE, as in OS] —Synonyms 1. Dream, nightmare, and vision refer to the kinds of mental images that form during sleep. Dream is the general term for any such succession of images. A nightmare is a dream that brings fear or anxiety: frightened by a nightmare. Vision refers to a series of images of unusual vividness, clarity, order, and significance, sometimes seen in a dream.
“When you have come to the edge of all light that you know and are about to drop off into darkness of the unknown. Faith is knowing one of two things will happen: There will be something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly.” Patrick Overton.

Acrylic on canvas. / A young Frida Kahlo flying free over her beloved homeland Mexico.
Belief, hope and imagination are perhaps the three most important ingredients in life (love is a given). It’s been said that a picture needs not be explaind, but I want to tell how I arrived to the version you see. I was looking at the picture as I took it and, from a certain bent of my imagination, I had the impression it looked a bit like a bird with the wings spread in flight. And that inspired me to give the original a “magic touch” and make it look more like a dream flight. The transition into blur and B&W would like to depict the undefined boundaries between the normal awareness state and the dream state, that particular place or state where anything and everything is possible and where all the miracles of creation happen: the land between the ordinary and the miraculous. I hope I have captured that essence. / / 08 December, 2007 —- / 90-46-988 - 09-11-26 / -—- /

1433 views as of Nov. 10, 2009 Challenge Winner – Birds in Flight, #12 Great Features Group There aren’t many things that bring me more joy than the companionship of the Black-Capped Chickadees that inhabit the woods behind our home. They visit us daily, and follow me along the trail whenever I go for a walk. I could be 3 property lines over and they will still follow me! It is not unusual for them to land on the end of my camera lens as I’m trying to frame a photo, or flutter around my legs, looking for their sunflower seeds. These little songbirds bring me more joy than I can ever truly express. What a gift they are! I would be filled with great sadness if they ever disappeared. They are a huge part of my passion for nature & wildlife photography and for capturing the beauty that surrounds us everywhere. This image was created by merging 2 of my chickadee in flight photos and then blending the sky together. Original images taken on my property in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. / / / More Chickadee Photos / View Renee Dawson’s Gallery / Image included in the CHICKADEE CALENDAR

Canon 350D / F/5.6 / 1/400seg / ISO-100 I was sitting day dreaming on my varanda and this most beautiful (and the biggest) butterfly that I had ever seen came to visit my Bougainvillea. When I realised I wasn’t still day dreaming (as I never get the honour of such beautiful visitors) I ran inside to get my camera half expecting she would have already gone! It was so hard as she kept fluttering around but I manage to get this shot. / This is very new to me as I have never been able to capture something as beautiful as this. 170 views at the time of entering the 100+ group Featured in Dimensions 14th November 2009 / Featured in Backyard Macros and Close ups 14th November 2009 / Featured in Portugal 15th November 2009
