As long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the consept of the Samurai warrior. / Manga has also had some influence on this picture, even though I was hardly ever exposed to it through my childhood. / But the last ten years, as I have been working only with graphics, and with perfecting my drawing skills. / And it is through this work that I have been exposed to Manga a lot, and I think it has influenced me quit a bit, and it shines through especially in my character design. / If you like this picture, you might enjoy this one as well Ore maybe this one… Enjoy and have a good time :-)
This painterly photo has distinctive images. I see the profile of a horse’s head with a white and blue face on the left side and his nostril in the middle. Another striking eye with contrasting color is on the right. The pastel colors are quite striking with great lighting and vivid colors. The bark of trees offers us surprising imagery after focusing on the illustrations under the veneer of peeling bark. It is truly nature’s “secret canvas.” The blue horse looks like he might have a small tear in his beautiful blue eye considering the fate of his equine friends who have been abused, neglected and killed due to human consumption and greed. I am an active animal activist and donate any proceeds I receive from my photography to groups to preserve animals, both wildlife and domestic. I will upload an editorial I wrote on the crisis affecting Mustangs and have contributed to many organizations to stop the brutality and violence against these majestic creatures. I admire everyone who is active in fightening the cruelty that has victimized our precious wildlife with some species at great risk of extinction. Our planet’s ecosystem also is in great peril suffering the consequences of man’s destruction of the natural environment.

My Great-Grandfather Holly Vandyck served in France in World War I…he was also an exceptional artist. Recently my father entrusted me with his sketchbook to try and preserve the artworks as the book itself is starting to fall apart. All the images in the book were drawn during the war…some even depicting the actual battles. I have scanned all the images and am trying to think of the best way to present them. It seems that he had a sense of humour too, many of his images poke fun at war. A sense of humour would be essential I guess under such extreme circumstances. All the sketches are ink and watercolour on a heavy linen paper bound together in a cloth book. Best viewed large There is no retouching done apart from adding the border and drop shadow. I am loathe to put these up on the web as it would be devastating if they were stolen…but they are so incredible that I want to share them with you. PLEASE respect that these hold a special importance to my family. (c) Van Dyck Family 2009

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” ~Ephesians 6:12 A prayer warrior does not need an arrow because the bow is lit with the fire of God’s Word and Spirit which penetrates the hearts of those who are prayed for so they may be refined, healed, and delivered! London city riot. I wanted to try and capture the frantic, claustrophobic feeling for all involved. Its simple, stark pen and ink sketched image. I didnt want it too polished as I hoped the roughness of it would help capture that violent feel
