  • This is my version of the famous Andy Warhol shot. But I put borders on mine.

  • 2008 Copyright. All Rights Reserved to Mariam Muradian. This Outdoor Series was created during the time that my Feral Child and Feral Woman were emerging. I had a claustrophobic time being inside anywhere…even my own house. I could only BREATHE outside. So I spent many days and nights outside. I moved my studio outside. I painted outside only. This series of paintings, I am convinced, cannot live indoors because it will choke the life out of them and they will die; so this series is prepared with heavy heavy sealants to live outdoors forever. I place each one very carefully in their “chosen” place. Each must be a compliment in the truest sense of the word to nature. You can never out-create nature. The series can be vibrant and subdued at the same time, depending on its environment. So once each has found their interconnected, noncompetitive place in the landscape, I watch. I enjoy watching these outdoor paintings live their life! How they communicate and play and change with the light, the blooms, the seasons! It is wondrous to witness! Their subtle variations and transformations are always perfectly, proportionately in sync with nature’s doings. Truly awesome! My ART has reached a Nirvana of sort in this context. It feels so right in my soul. Now you know why I must LIVE outdoors and garden and paint! I have never before felt such passion, such joy, and such inspiration! I continue to paint for this series. I will continue to take photographs of these art pieces as they change, as different colored blooms come to surround them. You must see! Thank you for looking and reading about this ongoing process of healing in my life. Please do comment, as I would love to hear how this effects the Beholder. Thank you. Outdoor Art Series 1L Gate (description for context): to the immediate right of this piece is the trellis gate leading to the backyard gardens. And immediately right of that is the companion gate art piece flanking the other side. Growing and climbing up this art piece is ivy and a wisteria with silvery white/lavender flowers. To the left of the piece is a huge true red rhododendron bush/tree. And to the left of that, a twin royal purple rhododendron bush/tree. More toward the ground in this same area is green grass with assorted colorful wildflowers, and running perpendicular to the fence is a bed of large white daisies/yellow centers and yellow tulips. I am just so grateful that I can SEE! That my vision returned from blindness, along with my color vision. That I am alive at all! A miracle and a blessing! See the others in the series /

  • WITHOUT PEACE, THERE IS NOTHING the story on this one: I was tweaking the basics of this for about 2hrs.; couldn’t get quite what I wanted…was making final adjustments on the main triangle doing most of the transform on this, while thinking of the title; hit a certain point and poof !, all the other ‘decorative fluff’ (other spiral echos, etc.) disappeared and this resulted (basically similar but a major change in appearance)...that main transform triangle no longer allowed me to change the basic essence (this) at all any longer; only the basics could be enhanced, not changed…for those that know Apophysis software, that can’t happen…guess it was supposed to be sorta like this(!)....so here it is.. Please listen, watch, and be Peace-full… The Balance – Moody Blues / (good sound & vid) After he had journeyed, / And his feet were sore, / And he was tired, / He came upon an orange grove / And he rested / And he lay in the cool, / And while he rested, he took to himself an orange and tasted it, / And it was good. / And he felt the earth to his spine, / And he asked, and he saw the tree above him, and the stars, / And the veins in the leaf, / And the light, and the balance. / And he saw magnificent perfection, / Whereon he thought of himself in balance, / And he knew he was. Just open your eyes, / And realize, the way its always been. / Just open your mind / And you will find / The way its always been. / Just open your heart / And that’s a start. And he thought of those he angered, / For he was not a violent man, / And he thought of those he hurt / For he was not a cruel man / And he thought of those he frightened / For he was not an evil man, / And he understood. / He understood himself. Upon this he saw that when he was of anger or knew hurt or felt fear, / It was because he was not understanding, / And he learned, compassion. And with his eye of compassion. / He saw his enemies like unto himself, / And he learned love. / Then, he was answered. Just open your eyes, / And realize, the way its always been. / Just open your mind / And you will find / The way its always been. / Just open your heart / And thats a start. ~ PEACE TO ALL ~ Apo3Dhack ~ 10000×5000px @300ppi / use large view, please Thanks for the look and listen, my friends

  • Acrylic on Canvas 75×100cm. (Commission – Original Sold) A snippet from my blog 21 April 2009 / Painting Commission – Claudia’s Gift A couple of months ago I was asked to do a rather unusual commission. I say unusual because the buyer saw a painting of mine on the internet. They considered purchasing it, but after much deliberation decided instead to commission a work. The original inspiration for their commission being my painting ‘Between Takes’ as pictured below. / ! / http://images-1.redbubble.net/img/art/backingcolor:white/product:greeting-card/view:preview/2340565-4-between-takes.jpg! The young buyer (through her Mum’s wallet) had several requests and thankfully they put them all together in a brief for me which I worried about being able to stick to. / Here’s a snippet of that brief: / She likes the female in Between Takes because she is: / -Pretty, elegant and sassy with delicate features, yet she is fun, bold and out there / -She is wearing a very fashionable/designer/funky outfit (very youthful appearance with use of the striped legs) / -She loves the white fluff of the skirt, it is interesting and softens the outfit beautifully / -it is a full body painting and not just a head and torso / -it is simple and clean with not too much distraction, it is very much about the girl / -she’s not wearing any jewellery / -fun dramatic/theatrical feel / -bold yet delicate/beautiful detail / -she loves the colours and in particular the lime green/yellow background / Colours she likes: / -pink/purple/lime yellow/lime green/black/gray/silver/white / Other Preferences: / -Medium length layered hair/colour similar to By The Light Of The Silver Moon (no fringe/medium brown with purple/other coloured streaks) / -Eye colour being hazel/green / -Devon Rex Tigerlily Purple (larger female cat) / -Cat not to dominate painting / We did wonder if we could incorporate fashionable fairy wings in her designer outfit (fluff and silver leaf perhaps)?! Commissions can be difficult because they normally come after a painting that has been painted intuitively. I tend to just paint and enjoy the process and let my instincts lead me. With commissions there is much more work on a conscious level – and the challenge is in being able to please the buyer, stick to the brief, maintain a sense of spontanaity and most importantly not to compromise one’s own style and enjoyment. After all, a painting done without love and enjoyment is not a painting worth owning. One only needs to look at the thousands of cheap mass produced paintings being produced in Asia and then later easily discarded when the decor is changed. I strongly feel that work of this type diminishes the value of one off pieces painted with love and care, not to mention that these are potential artists with much to offer the world, churning our mass produced cheap pieces because of the need to support their families. / / So, with all this in mind, and me being well and truly a month over the patient client’s requested deadline, I present to you “Claudia’s Gift”. One thing must be said and that is that the photograph doesn’t do this painting justice. The small elements of silver leaf, pearlescent effect and subtle textures are lost and flattened out in the digital image. However, I think the photograph still enables the viewer to enjoy an overall sense of the completed artwork. Thank You as always for visiting… and stay safe. x Carmen. When we think of stencils artists, the first name that often springs to mind is Banksy. His works have become incredibly popular in recent years and he’s played a huge part in helping graffiti and street art make the move beyond walls and alleyways to galleries and auction houses. / / But about the time Banksy was getting to grips with spelling his own name, French street artist Blek le Rat was changing the face of street art and graffiti as one of the first artists to use stencils in his work back in the early 80s. Blek, who is now in his mid fifties, has inspired a whole generation of stencil artists. One of the coolest things about Blek le Rat is that he didn’t start dabbling in stencil art til his 30s and as he approaches 60, he’s still out on the streets at night leaving his mark on the cities. / / If you’re inspired by this style, check out these talented stencil artists: / Blek Le Rat / C215 / Miss Link / Logan Hicks If you’d like to give this style a go in your own works, here’s a few links to get you started: Design a stencil Photograph to Stencil The Beauty of Stencil Art Blek le Rat, the man who gave birth to Banksy And here’s some wonderful stencil art from talented bubblers: / Ushi I by wita / The Retun of Samus by PaperMonster / ...Until The End of The World by PONSHOP You can find more in the Street Art group. Encaustic painting is a technique where hot pigmented beeswax is used to create beautiful, unique art. Today’s inspiration post comes with a small disclaimer. I’ve been wanting to do a post on abstract art for a while but it’s one of those genres that can appear complex to those who aren’t well versed with the theory or history behind it. My technical knowledge is limited but I’m hoping a few more experienced abstract artists on RedBubble will jump in on the comments below and give us their take on why they love this style and what these works mean to them. Abstract art is generally understood to mean art that uses colour and form in a non-realistic way. Abstracts generally fall into one of two catagories, Abstract Expressionism and Representational or Abstract Realism. Abstract Expressionism describes art color and form in a non-representational way, where as Abstract Realism describe art that portrays recognisable subject matter in an abstract way. If you’re interested in learning more, the following links are a good place to start. • I ran across this quote by a former Australian Prime Minister, Gough Whitlam. “A healthy artistic climate does not depend solely on the work of a handful of supremely gifted individuals. It demands the cultivation of talent and ability at all levels. It demands that everyday work, run-of-the-mill work, esoteric and unpopular work should be given a chance; not so much in the hope that genius may one day spring from it, but because, for those who make the arts their life and work, even modest accomplishment is an end in itself and a value worth encouraging. The pursuit of excellence is a proper goal, but it is not the race itself.” RedBubble has people with all levels of experience and talent. For me this is part of its richness. And in my experience many who start the creative journey discover gifts they did not know they had. I would put myself in this category. But what do people think? is there room in the creative tent for all who would want to enter? And what about work that is unpopular or uncomfortable, where does this fit? Vector art is created using graphics software programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop and Inkscape. The pen tool is used to create points, lines and curves which make up the final image. Vector graphics files store the lines, shapes and colours that make up an image as mathematical formulae so that images can be increased in size without becoming pixelated. It takes some practice to master the art of using the pen tool but a little patience and persistence can result in some wonderful illustrations: As these examples demonstrate, vector graphics can be used to create all types of art, from basic logo designs to intricately illustrated scenes.
