  • When I was preparing to shoot this nude series I knew I didn’t want to create images to stimulate the male libido. I was seeking a psychologically expressive female figure for myself. Some of the feminist literature that has influenced my thought in this area is a book by Linda Nochlin “Women, Art, And Power And Other Essays”. In this book she reaches an all time high in feminist rhetoric when she photographs a male nude holding a tray of banana’s held at knee height….!! So refreshing! / _______________ / This Image “Imprinted Woman”. Photo montage printed on Kinwashi. Three images montaged in Photoshop: Nude, Chinese calligraphy pattern, and cut radish (the vegetable) pattern. The final image was printed on an Inkaid prepped Kinwashi paper. 11’’ x 14”. The radish “paper” is very interesting; a small sheet about 6×8 inches of thinly sliced radish rounds pressed together into a translucent sheet. I found it at Hiromi Paper in Santa Monica http://www.hiromipaper.com/store/home.php.

  • The Master that is Bruce Lee

  • Mixed medium illustration. Photograph of the closed off opening posture of a gesturing anonymous woman with Asian motifs.

  • As a once psychology major, I was intrigued by Freud’s theory on the id and ego of the human psyche. It has been many years since those classes so my words may be somewhat off. But this piece is a self representation (aren’t they all?) of myself and how the “id” and “ego” play in our life decisions. We all seek pleasure and that constant feeling of euphoria, and our “id”’s only goal is to achieve those feelings without worry or care about the consequences of such actions. It is our “ego” that keeps the “id” in line, allowing us to think before we act, and to be able to foresee what may come of this pleasure seeking. It is a constant battle that wages on beneath our skin and sometimes the “id” overcomes. Some choose to live only by the “id”s bidding and never realize the destruction they leave behind when seeking their pleasures. I have been through that lifestyle once, and as much as I enjoyed such pleasures in bountiful amounts….the aftershock of those actions can still be felt today.

  • The traditional classic chinese word “ai” (love) consist of the word “xing” (heart) at its core. “Ai Xing” in mandarin means “loving heart”. I have simply highlighted the core word “xing” in red to show the meaning of loving heart. “While some simplified characters were adopted from conventional abbreviated forms that have existed for a long time, the vast majority of the changes made by PRC were “unnatural” such as the removal of the symbol for heart (心) from the word love (愛) into the new character (爱).” (Wikipedia) This word is hand-written by me (using a wacom pen & tablet). This t-shirt design is currently only available from RB. All profits from the sale of this t-shirt will go towards these 3 non-profit organisations which I have been supporting: I am currently sponsoring a little girl from India so the money collected from the sale of this tee will go towards this fund or other non-profit organisations which I support. • Acrylic On Canvas A piece that was inspired about watching Wong Kar Wai’s film In The Mood For Love, set in 60s Hong Kong. A story about forbidden love and in the story, the female and male leads shared some special moments in room 2046 – writing martial novels :D The chinese title of this movie is Hua Yang Nian Hua. The Chinese title, Huayang Nianhua (translated in the subtitles as “Full Bloom” but more accurately meaning “those wonderful varied years”), is more suggestive of period nostalgia and the Shanghai association, pointing to an iridescent, kaleidoscopic age of bygone elegance and diversity. / You can view and purchase my other “Hua Yang Nian Hua” creations from my Zazzle Gallery: / /

  • / Get the TShirt Tears from Heaven / / The Peacock Empress is a drawing created a couple of days ago, while at the surgery with my daughter, i had a vision of it which impressed strongly in my mind, and i was able to draw it once I got home. The idea was the Empress was rising up over the waters. There’s lots of symbolism in this, but it’s purely for my own benefit and the viewer may decide how the symbolism relates to them…the colour has been done in Photoshop. She has almost taken on the look of an oriental style “Luna Park” entrance at twilight, might be a nice design for those who celebrate “Chinese New Year” and/or collectors of asian inspired/related art
