Who can resist these eyes? This image is a reproduction of my original color pencil painting on drafting paper of ’”Blink” a beautiful cat owned by a fellow artist. “Blink” was placed Second in the Painting – Drawing Any Subject category at the 2008 Canning Show (First Place was awarded to my colour pencil painting “We Three Kings II – Lion” and Third to “Noble” my German Shepherd Dog in charcoal (yes I was very pleased with this Hat Trick!).
Red Bubble’s First Book /// In the Moment /// Overall Winner / I found myself in Geneva for a week for work last year. The only other time I had been to Switzerland was Zurich for 2 nights in the middle of winter, so I was kind of surprised by the beautiful (and hot!) summer weather I experienced on this visit. / The Lake at Geneva is where everyone goes to cool off and I was mesmerised watching all these crazy dudes doing amazing things off a high-dive on the edge of the lake. I took a few shots and managed to capture this moment among them. / I entered this work into the 2007 Linden Gallery Post Card Show in St.Kilda, and was absolutely stoked to have been awarded one of the six entries to be reproduced as postcards and sold through the gallery.
This guy was pretty cool, sitting there minding his own business, and I just had to get the shot. But as I lifted the camera and looked through the lens he just broke into this mean stare into the lens like he was gonna hurt me. I saw it and quickly pressed the shutter. Later I complimented him on his tattoos and showed him the shot and it was then that his frown turned into a broad grin…phew!

/ My ‘First Tree’ is officially published in the coffee table book Artists of the West / For information on purchasing a signed copy of the book, go to Carrie Glenn Studios Thanks! First Tree was Featured in Lifestyles Magazine as part of an article about the Artists of the West coffee table book I am also honored to announce my painting First Tree was a part of the Rialto Towers two week art exhibit in Melbourne, Australia in of July 2007 Acrylic and pastel on illustration paper. (1995) This is truly the first tree I ever painted, the need to paint and create was something brewing so strongly inside I had to do something about it. Yet my resources were very limited, I grabbed the only paint I had any access to, a can of my father’s black spray paint, I sprayed it into the lid of the can and used the only paintbrush I owned a cheep nylon brush from a water color kit and created. I then finished my work with the only two pastels I owned brown and black. / Necessity is the mother of invention, or maybe it’s that there is more than one way to skin a cat. (Sorry cat lovers) At any rate I grew up in a home with very few luxuries but I did have a passion to create, always, I had to feed the creativity. So this is a very special piece to me and I hope to you as well. Down through the dark trees, you came and saved me... Airbrushed and mixed media My Work Was Featured In Fantasy Art / (Thanks Everyone) Read the Collaboration of Written Work by Tony Hedger Part 2 of 2 / The way to get there is many in choice, / But a good first step is the inner voice. / By air, or water, by earth or fire, / Fairyland is your hearts desire. There you are free, all you can be, / And everything is real. / You could sit for a while, / Upon a sundial, / And chase the rays of the light, / You could float on the air, / Without any care, / Or fly with butterfly wings. / Buzz with the bees, and fly through the trees, / Float down with the falling leaves. You could go on a boat, / Through sparkling waters, / Made out of the shell of a tortoise. / Sit in the ring where the fairies all sing, / Drink, dance, fairy fling. / Diddle on the fiddle, play fairy in the middle, / Sparkle, shine, drink buttercup wine. / T’is close, you must believe, / Just follow the voice from within. I saw it in a vision. I suppose you could also say it’s my subconscious viewpoint on on life, mankind, nature and our current economic situation. Fate later connected me with Peter Oszmann and his succinct poem, it was like our work was destined for eachother’s” – Carrie Glenn “A Fish Out Of Water” / Poem by Peter. J. Oszmann Nature is wise, but Mankind… just bumbling fools. Learn from the living, watch water in motion, Don’t waste your time staring at small stagnant pools. Fish are content to live their life in water, Water is after all their life’s element. There’s no need for them to be an “achiever,” Living, staying alive… that’s accomplishment. But there was one fish wanting something “better”, He wanted “achievement,” he wanted a “first.” He leapt out of water, fins in quick flutter, Taking fast to the sky… but soon died of thirst… / / Peter. *My work was featured in the group Video Montage / ( Thanks Muscular Teeth and Butchart ) Excerpt from “Abigail’s Friends” written by Anthony Hedger illustrated by Carrie Glenn. ...“I think we better go back now.” She whispered to the butterfly. / “Why?” The butterfly asked. “It’s only my friends and they are having a special tea party just for you, come on and I’ll introduce you to them.” / “Er, ok, if you think I’ll be alright?” / “Of course you’ll be alright.” The red fox called to her. “Come on your tea is getting cold.” / So for the next two hours Abigail sat with Mr. Fox, Mr. Bear, Miss Rabbit, Ms. Blue bird and a hundred different butterflies and had tea and cake and chatted as though she had known them all her life. She gave each of them a big, big hug after and thanked them for making this the best birthday ever. / “Er, just before I do go home, how did you know it was my birthday anyway?” / “You could say a little bird told us.” The bear said gently and they all began to laugh…read more / CarrieGlennStudios.Com / My Zazzle Gallery

You can always tell a man by his hands…they can be rough, tough and dirty…but if they are gentle enough to grace a rose, than you know you found a winner! Pentax K10D A beautiful poem written by Dalton Sayre / Clasped in hands so strong / Petals bright and sweet / In contrast to the mines / So dark and full of heat This blessing Gaia gives / To those who take time out / To stop and smell the roses / And love instead of shout So hear the plea I offer up / To cloud and sky above / As I kneel on Mother Earth / As gentle as a dove I thank you for your bounty / And all that you provide / For roses blooming up above / And the ore you keep inside I know how much you care for us / Although you bear our scars / For unto us doth spill the light / Of sun and moon and stars
End of the road…or a new journey? / Porthill, Idaho
A beautiful poem written by my wonderful, talented friend Lina…you inspire us all! / / Tree Nature / She kept growing beyond her means / what I mean is, / she kept growing beyond what she desired yesterday, / she thought / if only, / If only I was … better at this…. Problem was she did become better at everything / she desired to become better at! / and still, more / would call her forth like a tree in the forest.. / she fell so many times / yet, none seem to hear her falling / her pain / her fears except maybe her own heart. That felt lonely. Until, / One day she looked deep within / And it was here / She saw and felt / Her tree nature appear / Like a totem / A solemn answer / To the questions she brought / forth She branched out within herself / And the expectations began to subside / What she discovered was / She was best at growing / Some would call it expanding. If she could learn to live in the moments / Between desire, expansion desire.. / She thought perhaps I could find a balance / Of sorts, / Contentment at best / Liberation from her limitless / Limits!! After all, she was like a tree / Happiest when she was in the process / Of Becoming!! / It was only in the thought that she needed to arrive Anywhere That pain seemed to preside / And fear would rear So she planted her feet squarely underneath her and / Allowed her tree nature to shine through. All manner of miracles happened then. / She discovered the art of / Allowing / And her Art, the very core of all that she was and is, / Flourished / Because she knew, She, / Like a tree, Just kept on growing, / Until growing became knowing Knowing, We are never finished and we are never done. Linaji 2009
Impressionist, painterly / Two boys doing what they do best in the rain. Originally impressionism was that the colour should be dropped pure on the canvas rather than mixed on the palette. Today, now that we have so many new paints and mediums to work with, while the original concept of impressionism remains the same, styles and techniques have evolved. / My style of Impressionism embraces traditional painting. It is the evolution of impressionism that i am hoping to achieve, from the original traditional techniques of impressionist painting all the way to this modern impressionist digital art which can be stylized and painterly depending on my subject and mood. My work is hand painted digital painting and is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Digital painting differs from other forms of digital art, particularly computer-generated art, in that it does not involve the computer rendering from a model. The artist uses painting techniques to create the digital painting directly on the computer. / I create the painting, directly on my PC, by using a Wacom tablet, a stylus pen and ArtRage painting software. The Wacom tablet can be compared to a canvas or watercolor paper surface. The stylus pen is my paintbrush.
